Fire, it seems to me (and to others) that you've been contradicting yourself. So tell me, exactly, why is lowering the tnl for 51-75 a bad thing?
Depends on who's post he's replying to at the time.
Well folks, considering the fact that I've been arguing against several people over the span of several pages, and that I've been continously came at with arguments that try to change the meaning of what I've said... I'd like you to actual find some of my own quotes showing once that I have contradicted myself. I am
NOT going to tell you again right here why it's a bad thing. I've said it once. I've said it twice. I've said it at least 5 times and this is getting really really stupid.
I said any not all. But my 54 ninja got to 54(About half-way to 75 in pure EXP) in less than one month. My 72 drk is still 72 after a year and a half. My brd went from 0-42 in less than 2 weeks. If investing the same hours, certain jobs are easier than others to level. This is unarguable. I don't want to sound cocky like drk is the hardest job to level (I'll let the DRG's talk to you about that.) but if time invested in leveling is all your basing it on, then the healing tanking and support classes are the easiest jobs in the game. (Not talking about player skill, just exp-hour) And it shows because of the unusually high number of total retards especially in the healing/support classes at 75. I'm not trying to call anyone names because none of you reading this are those people from my experience but there ARE a lot of horrible RDM/WHM/BLM/NIN/PLD at 75. You don't see horrible meelee at 75 because they just dont get invited past 65 or so. (I've also never seen a horrible BRD personally. I don't know why.)
Genkai may be a joke now but it wasn't when I did it. Bringing 18 lvl 48ish to beat the shizz out of exoreys, and dying more often than not due to total lack of player skill, and staying till ALL 18 got the mold... Thats how I did my genkai one. Running around Eldieme looking for lichs since we didnt know where they were! Getting wtfpwned by undead in garlaige cuz sneak wore and only half the whm's even bought it... We had no high level help back in january. You could say my genaki one is worth more since I did it the hard way without cheating and calling in high lvl help. You could say my alliance of 18 lvl 30's (our highest was 35) beating the rank5 missions was worth more than a run through by the local 70+. But i dont think any of the people who do it the easy way now are worth less. I don't think anyones accomplishmensts are worth less even if it was easier. You know why? I was one of the first rank5 on the server. I was damn proud and still am. No matter how many rank 5's there are and no matter how easy it gets to be rank 5 I know I did it the hard way. Don't grudge the people who are up-and-coming. Everything in this game has gotten easier over time. /shrug
(If i can find it I might post a couple pics of doing rank4 in the tower. We didn't know dolls dont aggro anything but magic. We were just killing every mob on the way. Got to experience Meltdown for the first time as a lvl 25. There were 18 dead bodies. Lucklily a JP taru farming lightning crystals came by and raised us XD Thank you syrup wherever you are!)
That's a nice rant, really. You've argued a point I already agreed with while filling pages with your useless talkin' about the old days that you always do. Guess what? Demonstrating your experience for no reason at all is pretty stupid for a game you haven't even played for months. I've got a question for you. Have you even actually been in a god shell? Have you experienced an awful lot of the end game content? But no, stay true to the smug idea that you are more knowledgeable than me from all your great time spent looking for group in your mog house.
I'd have to agree with Tyrath on this one, there are a ton of end-game players that haven't even touched some of the expansion areas, and if they complain about lack of content and things to do, then they do it out of their own ignorance. Just because the CoP missions are mid level caps does not mean they are meant to be taken on my people with their first level 40 job or new players. They take immense organization, talent, and preparation. Things that come naturally in the end-game.
To comment on another point brought up in this thread, the level-cap. People go back and forth on this all the time, but the level cap is already pushing the limits as far as "uber combos" go. 80/40 would cause too many jobs to become obsolete, and that's the last thing that anyone wants, especially SE.
Most of the recent CoP stuff is capped level 30-50. How exactly is this end game stuff? We haven't had an expansion that's for the end game since the freaking NA PC release years ago! So I'll ask the question to you... how much of the CoP have you done? How many ENMs have you done? How many quessts you're perfectly capable of doing have you ignored?
You're the ones who still have gear to buy. You're the ones who have leveling to do. Our jobs are finished. NMs and Dynamis is pretty much all we can do. We pick up another job and level it because there's nothing to do on our first one anymore.
And lastly to Konartist, who's still making arguments that have no logic behind them.
We don't know how much of a change it's going to be because they have given NO HINT towards it. We're all just speculating. The point we're trying to make is no matter how much of a difference it is, the change is 100% unneeded. If it's a bad idea at 10% reduction, it's a bad idea at 50% reduction.
I'll say it one last time. I don't want the game to be easier. Yes, we all have different amounts of time to play, but acting like easier to level 75 = more spare real life time doesn't make any sense to me really. People play as much as life permits them to play, regardles of how long it takes to achieve certain goals. By which I say this game is driven by jealousy, I mean all of you like Panda who sit around pouting you're not higher level and who obviously hate level 75s and say they have no lives.
The point being max level is at this point a measure of a certain amount of exp. this is a measure of skill and effort. To get there requires effort, skill lessons how much effort is needed... or in some cases, it will increase the amount of effort needed... but regardless...
And so I'll ask the question, yet again. If this update, let's say for the sake of argument, takes the time out exp as there is between level 70 and 75, is there actually, in any reality, a difference between what this is, and if they simply erased level 70-75, lowered all the end game monsters 5 levels and turned all the level 75s into level 70s. Would you feel as positive about this update?
I'm asking you this question because this is what they're doing. They are just renaming level 70, level 75. The reason so many high levels are against this is... all of you are looking ahead to level 75, seeing the exp requirements and it seems pretty inconsquential to you if it's a million exp or a million and a half exp because either way it's still gonna be a bitch for you. We're looking this from a perspective of people who've gotten that million exp and still had to push ourselves for that last half. There's a very real difference between level 70 and 75 in terms of effort. Just because you call it still level 75 doesn't mean it will always imply the same amount of effort. (and let's not get sidetracked by the job argument again please, because it says 75 bard, or 75 dragoon... you don't just change jobs...) By this update they're just turning level 75 into 70, but you guys aren't quite realizing it because they're still calling it 75... you are under the impression it will still be as meaningful... but this is from the perspective of someone who hasn't gone through the real grind to understand why every earned point of exp matters.
