Next update on EXP

Not to brag or anything, but almost all of the DrgnAsh members did all three level 30 promyvions within 3-5 days of COP's release. Almost every pt we went through those with won their fights on the first try. The only one that gave my pt trouble was holla, but it only took three tries (two other pt's in alliance that went through holla with us won their first try, and we had no guide or anything telling us what to expect or what to do). We didn't use any animas or whatever, either.

You guys might've just gone with shoddy parties or party members. >_>

The problem with all this is... why should everyone be able to get to 75? If you only can level up once a week, it should take you a long long time to get there. If they made level 100, should it be easy to get there too? Yes there's lots of end game stuff, but it's supposed to be a reward for lots of hard work.

And I just have this question to ask... if they had changed the system so that it makes it easier to get to whatever level YOU are at, and then all the future levels are just as hard, how would you feel about the change? If you were for example level 50 and they decided that level 1-50 is too hard and it turns away new players... so they make that take half as much exp, but 50-75 is the same, how would you feel?

If level 75 is about accomplishment, by making it easier, they don't give you guys a thing. All they do is take away from the people already there or on their way.

hes right on the money, and explained it many ways now.

anyways, if you are a high level, you understand how this change sucks.

if you are a lower level, you dont understand how it feels for SE to do this.
i am in the same boat as firestreak, 3 lvl50 jobs im leveling currently.

note: there are a few exceptions to the above, but they are true generalizations from 9 pages.

maybe this will help the analogy.... lets say you clothcraft. lets say you are level 80. so it took you 80 full points of skilling up to get there and lots and lots of money....

so lets say.. SE says no more .1 skillups, all .1 skillups will be replaced by .2.. so now, you get leveled alot quicker for alot cheaper if ya remember all of your .1's, going as .2's instead.

how would you feel?

I simply can't agree with this. First off, it can only be true if level 75 is the end, which it isnt. If this was an update for a single player RPG, then yes I see your point - your time spent as a high level player is down the drain and everyone who starts now gets to do what you did in a lot less time... and for the newer player they are maybe being cheeted out of a lot of game experience that they now wont be able to enoy.

But that isn't the case. This is an MMO - a persistant world. Leveling a job from 1-75 is NOT a be all end all goal, it is only a beginning. The game does NOT end at level 75. If you think it does then you've either never played another MMO to end game level, or you are looking at it purely from a selfish point of view (i.e. "this sucks, look at all the time I waisted leveling and now others can do it quicker)

Speeding progression to the highest level is a natural evolution of all MMO's. As they expand the top level gaming areas (which get the lions share of attention in the patches, updates and expansions), it becomes only natural to have the progression for players to reach that level speeded up. Your 75 levels of exping is preparation for the massive challenges that await you beyond - nothing more. \

Further on my "selfish" statement, tell me this:
How many dragons do you solo once you hit 75?
How many times do you enter into Dynamis alone?
How many more top level encounters do you think will be added where people face them alone?

Seriously, it's all about team effort at the top game. By reducing the time involved in getting a player to that level, you are expanding your talent pool and available base of quality players to select from when organizing and taking on these challenges, which are the real escense of a MMO.

Lastly, trying to compare leveling a job to leveling a craft is fruitless. You're talking different worlds there. More high level crafters = competition. More high level players = opportunity.

The night I went to do holla with that big group slacker took (I think you were there actually) we beat the holla boss 1st try :p..everyone did... cept slack's PT who wiped the first time but won 2nd. The other two we all beat in one try also. It took a really really competent group to beat those BCs. I'm somewhere around 10/13 on holla.

I have to say that I'm with Fire on this. I stand to benefit from the new exp system on my monk and any other job I feel like leveling, but at the same time I feel like my whm is being bent over the exp table. While I have a 75 job, I don't feel that I'm elitist, since I don't mind helping some newbs when I'm free or answering questions, but I still feel like this change is a bad thing. It took me just over a year to get to 75, what with breaks and other jobs and such; and with this system, it would have cut off a significant chunk off of that time.

It's true that the endgame is already packed with people, and making it faster to get to those levels is just going to make it a lot worse. Unless they're going to add a ton of endgame stuff to do, which I HIGHLY doubt without an expansion being released, there will be way too many people to have fun at higher levels. There's already tons of people doing dynamis, with several new shells being created just to deal with the people reaching 65+ every day.

Another thing to consider is that the leveling sites are usually packed now anyways. At 70+ there's not many places people can go for anything apporaching decent exp. We've got Kuftal Tunnel (2 parties, stop at ~72), KRT (2 parties), Sky (2 parties, 1 stops at 75), Moon (2 parties, stop at 73/74), Bibiki Bay (1 party, stop at 73) and Uleguerand Range (1 parties). All of those not including a cannon/speed party of some sort, which would lower those numbers even more.

This means at the maximum, 10 parties at any time can be getting anything approaching mediocre exp, and by mediocre exp I mean more than 3k/hr. Considering that the best places for exp are usually the first ones taken, most of the time you have to go to one of the other spots and take less exp. There's even less places to exp at 74-75 to get decent exp, so flooding this area with more people is only going to make it take a lot longer to get to 75. They need to make more areas for exp, but that would require another expansion or a major update.

They should also provide some sort of compensation for players who have already hit 75 and moved onto other jobs. Since they are tossing out some of the exp we have earned, it would only be fair if we get some compensation. After all, if the new exp tables were in place when we leveled those jobs to 75, we would have gotten a bunch of merits with that exp.

No, you people who don't have level 75 jobs aren't getting 75 handed too you, but you cannot say that you will have earned it as much as those who already have it. But the people with 75 jobs have every right to be upset about the time they essentially wasted getting to 75 with this new system.

Again, I'm not trying to be elitist, but I'm not going to respect someone who gets from 1-75 using an easier track as much as someone that used the one that I had to take. That doesn't mean they'll suck at their job or that I won't party with them or anything, it's just that I wont feel that they've worked as hard as I have had to. In fact, I probably won't even care about it unless someone gets to 75 under the new system and says that they've done just as much work as I had to, and only then would I start to sound elitist about it.

As long as it's a minor change in the exp it won't be that big a deal. Someone on my LS said 13k a level(not sure where they heard that), which if it is that much, that's a SHITLOAD of a change. That's something to bitch about, but not a couple k exp a level.

Lol Bajarett....this is getting hilarious.

You say you all "Worked harder" than some of us?

I have more gil, BY FAR better equipment, and way more craft levels than 95% if not more than the NA level 75's. I have earned all of it every step of the way to ensure I have DAMN good equipment when I level if not the best.

So I don't think you level 75's who did it in the beginning worked as hard as me, hell most of you are fucking gimps let's be honest. THANK GOD for gods gear and rare/ex shit or we would all see how gimped most of you "End gamers" that "worked SO hard" really are. I look at most of the 75 Ninjas who were level 60 like a month ago with shit gear still wearing the same shit.

I don't agree with this new patch but trust me, you find me a Na who has made more than people like Phraust or Tiya, or an NA who has made, lost, and then comeback to make even more than me at level 75 and I might take into consideration that you "worked" harder.

Gimmie a fucking break.

I could have 2 level 75 jobs right now, but I chose to "WORK" for the best, not level. If you think Xping here and there is work you don't know what work is in this game my friend.

Any further fucking comments about "Work"?

THAT IS WEEEEEEEEAAAAAAK!!!

OMG.... sitting at 65 forever while lvling other jobs.... my PLD should pop to 70 instantly... instead all the n00bs get to lvl faster... and the gil sellers get to jump in on Dynamis drops faster...... grrrrr....

For those of us playing 1+ years.. i think it's a shame. I guess Vana'diel has gone socialist... giving handouts for free.

I'm not liking how I'm going to be considered a noob if I level to 75. It seems like everyone is going to be labelled one now anyways. Well, anyone that speaks english. True, more bad players are going to make it higher, but whose fault is that? Not like they're solo-ing their way to 75. Those bad players are going to reach 75 sooner or later. Has S-E even decided what the levelling tnl is going to look like yet?

Thank you for the most useless contribution to this thread thus far.

I've been playing for a year now too, but I've chosen to take the 'amazing gear + slow leveling' path instead of the 'gimp and drag myself to 75' because it would mean nothing to me otherwise.

Yeah, the people behind me had it so much easier. Every single thing in the game from equipment, to food, to expected items was less. There were less dumbshits out there mucking up the xp. There weren't as many parties in one xp zone.

Now though, there is better food, people understand SATA with greater majority, and apparently the xp amount has gone down. As well as new zones.

Will it be harder for me then for you? I couldn't say, as it could be either way, most people who have made it to seventy-five put a lot more focus on it then I did. That's why they are there and I am at the level I am.

Not to mention the fact that getting to seventy-five doesn't mean a whole shitting lot. Plenty of retards are at that level for no better reason then they got Refresh in their pocket.

I could probably have my Thief to sixty in about two months, but that may not be the case six months from now. I like playing my other jobs too, and if I don't let them fall behind my Thief, that gives me more options to party with friends.

Some of you focus too much on levels simply by giving a damn in the first place.

While this is nice for people who dont have tons of time to play, I dont see the reason for it. The exp costs aren't all that bad. You get that nice slap in the face at 55 with 20k tnl, then when you get to 70 you get 40k tnl. I think the most it hits is about 44kexp tnl. Which ins't that hard to get. I have to agree with Svina, that this game is taking a WoW turn with easier exp.
This is a mixed bag much like all of SE's updates. I hope you all stop bitching at each other cause, honestly, it wont change it, SE's plan is already in action. Time to sit back and watch the show.

err..wow Phraust. My party died to holla once because we didn't use any two hours pre-nerf but had no problems otherwise. heh

Kinda sucks that people can't fight Ouryu, Ultima and Omega, Snoll Tzar prenerf, that shit was insanity. The CoP missions were too hard though before. They were needed changes.

So I guess you are either FOR IT or AGAINST IT or YOU DON'T CARE.

I think I am mostly in the DON'T CARE category. I can't say I am for it or against it.

I am not against it, because I feel that personally I put in the effort and I won't suck as a 75...Amognst other things previously mentioned.

I am not for it mostly because, whether there is an admission of elitism or not, there are strong undertones of it going on. I don't like that I am the guy who puts in the effort and then suddenly, not by my choice, my 75 isn't good enough or not considered a full fledged 75. That's bullshit.

I can see it now, when I get to 75 and seek a party, a seek comment that reads: Old School 75ers only / New School <too weak>...
That's just as dumb as any search comment I have ever seen.

Seriously though I don't think that will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised. I'm definitely more concerned with different things in game besides just getting my first job to 75. And RL calls...I am married, will be 30 soon, moving from townhome to single family home this year, working 2 jobs, working on a promotion, planning for the future (kids), etc...How you act in game is an extension of how you are in RL (unless you somehow supress yourself in RL...God knows we do see some people's "true colors" show only in Vana'diel).
That's why I don't appreciate the connotations that I have somehow been given 75. It's doubtful that SE will make this a free ride or anything. They'll shave a bit off the top...Big deal. Like I said before, if you don't "get it" by the time you are 75, you never will.

As has been mentioned, people bitch about every change that SE makes. I'm not surprised that people bitch about this one. I'm not surprised that it's almost exclusively 75ers. As I said, I can understand where you guys come from. I doubt it'll change much. If it does, we have have the equal write to draft a formal letter to SE with our thoughts. The game will be what you make of it. Some idiot newbs won't have the desire to stick around as long as the people that really want to achieve their goals anyway.

1 year into this thing and I can see what is most important to me is still my friends. Friends got me into this game, and I have made some new friends along the way.

The majority of QCDN is fairly like-minded and active on our server. We are the good eggs (most of us)...We won't let this go to hell.

Yeah, I forgot about the people like you, no offense. I never said that I worked the hardest, or that I had the best gear. But that I will have spent more time getting more exp is what I'm talking about. Yes, people have worked harder than I have, but I said that I didn't really care about it unless they start acting like their better than I am or something. You've worked hard, you deserve some respect, that's all. Someone who hasn't worked as hard as I have to get the same thing, I'm not going to respect as much, but it's not a big deal.

Leveling isn't the only factor in respect in a game like this, but it's a major one. Someone like yourself (Vang, Cubswoo) who has spent a lot of time getting the best gear they can rather than level is also deserving of respect. But, you are in the vast minority, so obviously you're are the exception to most blanket statements. The amount of time it takes to get to 75 doesn't matter, but that someone didn't have to get as much exp as I did, who also didn't farm/camp their ass off, I won't respect as much by a tiny amount.

I've met some awesome lower level people, and some great high levels, so level isn't the only thing that I care about. I still farm, trying to better my gear, and I do other things besides level. The game isn't about leveling, true, but you need to level to do a lot of it.

Oh, and there's no E in my name.

I'm going to say I don't mind the change that much yet as I don't want to make early assumptions. I'm not here to flame into that sorta specific, just rather continue the discussion. I myself am trying to realize how I feel myself about the term "Worked Harder" that seems to belittle everyone.

In the end 75 IS 75, whether you get there gimped or with the best equips, and whether you did get there before OR after the change. Personally i think this thread should be solely on the topic of how the update effects HOW levelling changes. Simply put you can probably level faster under the new system. That is great, but imo, this can lead to more people skimping out on "needed" equips just because they can bypass it that much easier/faster without having to shell out a load of money and time trying to earn it. Even with that said, I know many people pride themselves on their equips and want to be the best, and that is great, so maybe that won't happen, I don't know.... there is good and bad.

Another point is also that getting to that level is hard (75), and always will be because it does take work and effort, the funds for food/equips/transport/AH fees/whatever. The difference of opinion (imo) comes from that one side of a coin is getting shafted in time because they are already there and will have things taken away from them (RL time & money, INGAME time/money) for what they've already done and accomplished. In time will that even matter? Both sides have equal arguments I think, but just have to wait to see what the SPECIFICS of the update will be.

And finally, the point about SE's business also holds very true. Either way this is a game, and no matter what they do to your/our/their XP you've already paid for it so you've got to sadly suck it up and remember that it was fun!!!

Now for my own personal example, I know I've spent time post 70 getting goofy chain 3's for 87 experience points, because 200+ chains just arent that common. In the general outlook XP'ing like that IS alot more work on the current 75 level to make it to 75.... so where does all that effort and time go? It will just probably thrown away, but at the same time, the updates makes will the tnl closer. That is great because it just means seeing less of those stupid low chains for maybe a few thousand XP, which in no way bothers me because its fun to level other jobs, and like was mentioned, be versatile in the game and HAVE FUN LEVELLING! :D

So if this update were to subtract say, 20k total from an entire 75's job under the new update... and calculate an avq. 3+k XP party per hour mostly (if youre lucky and not many pt's xp'ing in the same zone 70+) This can be only a loss of maybe 10 hours of your RL time... no big deal right? :o

In the end, I would like to make a little joke/jab and say that maybe this will bring back alot more RDM's/WHM'S so I can hear "Once i level i gotta leave." for alot more levels since those TNL's will come much quicker ;)

The way I feel about this part of the update:

Really don't know, cause I have no clue how much tnl is going too be. I really do not care about reaching level 75 because I do not plan too do any end game content. I just look forward too leveling another job after I have gotten my white mage pass level 70. Changing the TNL too a lower rate does not change how I feel about the game. I have tried too quit here and there but always came back usually after a number of days. I even tried WOW once even after I said I would not play another MMorpg game. All I can say FFXI has my attention cause thats the game I have the most fun with.

Voltorb said:
neophytal if you're quoting at least quote my post correctly. I probably have played this game long before you have but that doesn't make much difference. Honestly if I really cared about doing God's and whatever I would hit 75 long ago with all the lvl 75's currently in God shells or Dynamis, whatever. I have my own reasons for leveling at my own pace.

Voltorb wrote:
{World} {peace} {Can I have it?}

People who are currently doing God's, Dynamis, whatever are worried about the new flood of players hitting 70+. Sounds to me like you're crying because the place is packed already. content.
as i said in my last post, typical lvl60 and below response...

i guess this is america, people always want an easy way out.

uh, i quoted part of your post, that is perfectly fine, i dont need to quote the whole post.

secondly, level at your own pace, i dont care. im just saying your comment is insulting to the people that are 75. and you know what? i care less how long you have played if you have accomplished less.

Its all these people bitching about how WoW is so great, and they got their way. Total bullshit. They had no reason to change it, but not anything I can do about it. If they drop it too much though, I think a lot of people will be on the way out.

Fae

I can see it now, when I get to 75 and seek a party, a seek comment that reads: Old School 75ers only / New School <too weak>... Rolling Eyes
That's just as dumb as any search comment I have ever seen.

No one is gonna do that, there isn't going to be any negative consequences at the new 75s that will come in... what's going to happen is simply, level 75 will mean less. Like getting to level 70 now. It's max level but it's easier. If it's easier it means less. So simply all the people who are prepatch 75 will feel that loss.

This was NEVER a moe I thought Square would make.
