But you can control him instead of Leonard.

But you can control him instead of Leonard.

No I know that, but I'm trying to effectively use them together as a party. Who ever i'm not control sucks as a NPC even with auto attack, all out, or whatever.

Maybe I need to double check my command bar.

Alright, after playing in the field I'm a little frustrated by the control of my partner. I want him to be an auto tank. I have provoke set to number 1 but don't know how to get him to use it. I put him on auto but that didn't work. I tried making a combo out of provoke but it can't be put in combo's.

Any idea how to better control your companion?

Characters not under your control seem to not stick to abilities you put on the command bar, in other words, they can use their entire arsenal. The best way to handle it is to multitask. So far I have had no problems out of getting my healer to heal (curin' status ailments is another story) , so that is one role you'll not have to worry so much about. My avatar is a tank build, and I control as him mainly, but when I fight large enemies Leonard can't combo unless I do it. I'll sick my guy on the mob first, get some hate, do my combos and then when I run my guy out of juice I'll swap to Leonard. To be honest though, I haven't ran into a situation yet where a tank was needed with the exception of boss fights in which case you bring out the knight.

Their use of abilities is fine, but their pathing is fuckin' awful. You'll attack a mob and ten years later one of your "battlemates" may join you if there isn't a tiny pebble under their feet, if they aren't ranged that is.

So far the only thing the game lacks is a FFXII-style system for controlling your party. Other than that, its golden, best RPG to come out in a damned long time.

Got the game last night. Played it for about 30 minutes. So far I love it.

I am up for some online stuff if anyone wants to add me. PSN name is Sirza.

I wish they would have given us all of the online quest from the get go, or after you unlock the mode... I'd much rather skip the story and at chapter 3 I have a measly 4 quest open to me. Gonna bust my ass today and tomorrow to beat this horribly comical story.

If this game had the party AI control options that Dragon Age did it'd be one of the better games on the ps3.

So you hit select and then switch to your other character all the time? I find that a pain in the ass to do.

Other then this battle comfort issue I have, it's a beautiful game.

Hey Xal, my store now sells Fire giant anklets and much much more. Check it out and see if there is anything you need.

Btw, since you need the game name to add friends. I'm Mouse.

Man, those are expensive, but when I get some more money I'll pick'em up.
I upgraded my Georama to Level 3, but I'm still waiting until I make some buildings before I upload it.

Hey Xal, do you know if you get money or something when someone buys something from your farm?

I want to say you can. But I'm not even sure.

Alright, I'm in love with this game. All you have to do is decide what role you want your character to be and then set them to the command you want them to play. For example, I have my main avatar set to be a pld (defense and evasion priority) or heal first (healing priority). He still attacks with whatever is at his arsenal. Yulie is going to be like my BLM. I have her set to go all out.

I'm still playing around with provoke. I want my companion to use it right away as soon as I engage to a mob.

Yes, I do. I'm a lazy person, but when it comes to games I don't mess around.

That and I'm tryin' to bust ass through this shitty, shitty single-player to get to the meat. Level 5 really dropped their standards for this game. The voice acting is fuckin' awful (not near as poor as the dialog though), and the reason why they didn't leave the JP voice track in ("we reworked this version hard to sync the lips and the... yadda yadda") is horrendous. The story is garbage, the character/armor/weapon design is awful, but it is so much fun to play that all the bad kinda just gets laughed off, well, at my house. Take away the online experience though and it would be hands down one of the worst games I have ever played.

I got the game today, so maybe I'll see you all online tomorrow :3 gonna spend today progressing through the story.

Okay, the event when you turn in the Firestone was pretty funny.
