Sange: Seems like a piece of shit bells and whistles gimmick. The damage you do at Lv1 barely makes up for the extra hits you would of done in the 2-3 seconds it takes to use Sange and throw your Shurikens. Not only that but you need capped Throwing, Expensive Shurikens and probably more RAcc gear to swap in which with 60 Inventory slots is impossible for most NIN's as it is, maybe SE should of just given NIN's the ability to merit their Inventory Space, that would of been the best thing out of what they ended up doing.

Ninja Tool Expertise: Great, so now cheap NIN's can have a signature to go with their bandwagon.

SAN Spells: Maybe worth it, probably not... it has to be able to do more damage then I can do in the same time with Katana's, and from the numbers I have heard so far it just doesn't suffice. Not only that but if you want the entire wheel you will use all available Group 2 merits and not be able to improve any of them or get either of the above two abilities.

Would it really of made NIN's so powerful if they just gave Jubaku: Ni finally so we don't have to wait 4 seconds to cast Ichi and have it wear off 50% faster then our Slow and Blind making it incredibly inconvienent.

Anyways I'm pretty happy with the update other then SE giving a bunch of useless merits to jobs (Protect V = 5 more DEF wtf?). It seem's SE is just trying to make it look like they are giving us opportunities to improve ourselves but really its just a minor upgrade to make people think they are improving so that SE doesn't have to tackle the real problem of mobs being too easy and AI being too stupid.

Yeah I meritted sange to see what it was about.

Haven't been able to see what it does yet.

So any numbers on the :san spells? I had wanted to be a nin/blm quite early on, is that feasible now? I cant imagine them hitting for more than 200-300, or it would make nin even more godly. Unfortunately, it would really need to be higher than that to match just the meleeing Wed put up during the cast time.

Like I said in another post, if the SAN ninjitsu doesn't hit for 400+ on Bursts then there is really no point in me sacrificing the time to cast it for the TP and extra Melee hits I would lose. In 3-4 seconds I can do 150-300 dmg on a VT-IT mob and have 9-20 TP... I wouldn't sacrifice that for less then 400 dmg burst.

Maybe it's just that this patch was really targetted towards the bandwagon NIN's that can't outparse most people and are willing to sacrifice Melee hits for these bunk merits.

Jesus Christ, I can't believe you're actually crying over this.

You make no sense sir.

Its a pointless ability? Even fully Merited its 30% chance to not use a tool... tool's are not expensive. I spend like 500k and make enough tools to last me 2-3 months.

Edit: Sadly it's probably the best of the selections NIN's have to go with for these new merits.

San spells seem to be about 1.5 of :ni. Im sorely dissapointed.

They aren't expensive for you uber rich players. I can't make gil like the rest of you. Expensive tools are the reason I haven't gotten nin past 15.

From what I hear, the SMN merit bloodpacts do like 400 damage and around 700 on MBs to XP mobs. If this is confirmed over the next few days you're probably better off capping Spirit Perp Cost over these piles of shit.

from what I hear Cubs the bps are like neither blast for other avatars

meh

It's all starting to feel a little dissapointing.

Devotion looks to bee decently worth while especially if it can be used on yourself, i can't find a decent merit party since i didnt get off work till 10pm and not able to start looking till 11:15pm to find every place imaginable already at limits or above on the parts...

Martyr look pretty sweet if your out of MP and you need a fast heal on someone.

From what I hear ShellraV and ProV are basically worthless if you can merit those other two completely which is my plan they should be at 12:30 recast on both Martyr and Devotion.. and I may only unlock Martyr and keep devotion as low as possible if it can be used on myself.. WHM + convert = {Yes please.}

I <3 SE... they fuck all you other jobs over and make the desired jobs even more desired lawl!! (j/k... really I don't care either way XD)

Not to hijack the topic but...

1) Protectra V gives 5 more defense than Protectra IV.
2) Devotion cannot be used on yourself.

New whm merits = teh sux

If they are Ranged Magic Attack like Diablos I wouldn't be "too" disappointed. If they're just a magic attack without any form of bonus enfeeble or ranged attack than it's going to be worthless if those numbers are true. With it being based on TP tho, you'd most likely be better of picking one fully meriting it and seeing just how benificial it is out on the field. That may make a difference. Outside of the BPs for Summoner that were added.. did they do any other changes to them? It was "rumored" about skill being worth while and new advantages to keeping avatars out longer... am I to guess that in translation these new BPs are the advantage of avatars staying out longer?

Being a "bandwagon" ninja... I still side with you on this Deci although I am just assuming that SE has just always wanted nin to rely on Ratt. The Ninja Tool merit would do me more good now while leveling the job than it ever will at level 75, but that's just my opinion. I'd consume more tools gaining those merits than I'd ever save from getting it considering the %. Nice for the solo/farmer type ninja but just not seeing the warrent for it in other places.

Going to go out on a limb and assume it won't help on a subjob? Not as though you would go through a lot of tools with it as a sub.. but overtime?

The issue with San that had me curious is.. would it be worth while to merit it to lower magic resistance or is it not going to work that way? I.e. Spam it on a god to lower the resistance for... the sake of your mages' attacks to be higher and more damage over time? Of course it seems doubtful that it would be all that useful in a merit party but perhaps in end game in places where your weapons are not going to be as useful to melee resistant mobs?

WHM merits don't seem "that" bad. Pro & Shell V seem sorta.. meh. Not too sure what the def formula would be on a fully merited Pro V-- but it doesn't seem to be nearly as worth while as Devotion in a mage party when everyone is out of MP as that sounds like a party based convert. Two white mages doing that back and forth to each other could be pretty sweet.

Hyoton: San did about 130 dmg, in melee gear at first lvl. Unsure what
the total extra dmg for +20 magic atk would add up to. Forgot to test if
the effect for earth dmg spells was increased, but unless there is a significant
boost on that area, the San-spells are a real dissapointment.

On another note, no-MB, no weather effected Burst II for 1650 dmg.

I don't know what you're smoking, but anything that saves 30% of anything isn't pointless. It basically gives you 30% more tools. And you were complaining about Ninja and inventory before. Dude, seriously, what have you gotten in to? That means for every full stack of tool bag, you have a phantom bonus 4. Pretty silly thing to nitpick and downplay.
