Ive really been thinking about it, and PLD is (supposed to be) the "tank" in the game. Which kind of made me wonder... Why doesnt SE give them a native ability of provoke, but maybe a bit more potent. This could open up a couple more SJ possibilities for PLD, which is nearly the only job that doesnt really have SJ freedom.

It just doesnt make sense to me that this job can only function in parties because of its SJ, unlike a lot of other jobs.

PLD/NIN can and does tank big nasties quite nicely. Provoke isn't required to hold hate. You have Flash, Sentinel, Rampart, Shield Bash, Cures, Cover, etc all to help hold hate.

yeah we are doom to only /war because of provoke
and although i hear a few paladins have made /nin a viable option but from what Ive seen few can pull this off
Ive always wondered the same thing my self if a paladin is a tank and provoke is one of the most powerful tools a tank can have why isn't provoke a
part of paladins natural abilities instead of depending on /war like i mention it severely limits a paladins sub options

yeah, Ive seen this, but this requires more strategy (waiting). But in an exp party, a PLD/whatever could add a lot to the table. PLD/WAR would still most likely be the best combo, but different areas could make use of different combinations.

Also, when mentioning the native ability, I dont mean to get it at like, lv 5 like warrior. But later on, at like 50 so it will be exclusive.

And it's also possible for PLD/NIN to outperform PLD/WAR on certian fights provided they have the right setups in equipment as well. The closest way to explain is to just look at NIN/DRK with haste for Stun, PLD/NIN can haste setup for Flash and results are close.

I think SE had brainstorming those provoke ja before, and is all balance of power

if PLD itself can do provoke, it'll be too overated, like if NIN without sub war can able to provoke, who will need PLD anymore right? lol same goes to PLD

this isnt all that true, WAR is a DD these days, not a tank in any sort of way. (most of the time)

It wouldnt be the right idea to give NIN provoke, because that goes against it as a job. NIN was made by SE to be a RNG/BLM hybrid kind of thing, but people use it for tanking because of how expensive it is to be a NIN DD lol

i wonder does PLD/WHM work if PLD had provoke ja... :P

thats what I was wondering... PLD/WHM could be used. Or if you want to take less damage (occasionally) you can go pld/mnk. Get a bit more HP and counter, which overall will behave just like double attack if you are the tank.

Come on! PLD/BLU, Caccoon spam GOOO. There could be so many cool SJ applications with this. @_@

I was hoping SE would put in the JA provoke, I would so level Paladin then. Unfortunately not, I guess.

if more then like 1000 people request a JA provoke on PLD on their feedback, i'm sure SE will do it on the next major update... but the hard part is that how can we get 1000 people to do it? lol

How many people do we have on the server... 3,000 or so? Shouldn't be that hard. SE knows we want it. They just want to balance the game out, I suppose.

yeah... Balance. I want my DRK Last Resort ability to last 3 minutes, not 30 seconds. Seriously wtf lol. We get an ability that makes us hit harder for 30 seconds... And the majority of DRK's use GS or Scythe, thats like.. what. 4 hits? Maybe 5? But ohhh, wait. This has already been brought up... So SE instead gives us the ability to merit Desperate Blows. lol..........

Average is 2000, Peak time, 3000, weekday during like school day, is 1.5k

and remember 50% are usually active, 30% are RMT/BOT/AFKer 20% are bazaar afker

anyway, even if PLD have Provoke, i don't think it'll be outbalanced

Eh, then everybody would sub NIN, for EXP parties at least. Just what we need, more people subbing NIN.

or /Drg

for Jumps >.>

or

/cor lol

so many possiblitiy

PLD wasn't originally a tank when it came out, it was a support healer. as people played with it, they realized cures generated hate, and that they could tank this way. SE then increased their MP pool to reflect this, and PLD was born as a tank.....

it wasnt always that way..... ;)

doesnt matter, people bandwagon /nin like no tomorrow. There are several other better job combinations.

Their native defensive abilities and traits meant they were supposed to be tanks though. What use would they be otherwise? Because WHM will generate more hate from healing than a PLD would
