someone else said n. body. I just followed
Either way, the person is a known hacker once you discover it. So if you don't throw it away, then that means you keep an item that you KNOW a hacker got for you. Which means, if you don't throw it away, that you're not entirely clean. By your definition, just because the item was obtained before you knew he was a hacker, its suddenly clean.
Funny how that works. For yourself, its obviously OK. But for me, even though I obtained my items before they started hacking, my items are suddenly stained. Why is that?
So basically, everything Blabj have done in the past on the forums, is suddenly stained because he got caught hacking? Even though he himself said he'd stop using it now since it wasn't worth getting banned over it?
So just because he used a hack in the past, and he now says he regrets it, his mod powers would be stripped from him?
Hillarious. I remember Godpoing being invited back to Perseverance or whatever shell it was, even though he hacked not only once, but twice. Once to earn him a suspension, and once to earn him a banning. So he earns a third chance, but you wont even give Blabj a second? That, if anything, is double standard.
I may or may not toss the item months after the fact. Months after the fact you find out that so and so from your shell hacked. Well they were probably around for countless events, not just the one where you obtained something one time. You've probably obtained a number of things over time. Is everyone in the shell going to suddenly throw out half their gear? That's gray area for sure, and quite irrelevant to Blabj continuing to be a mod here. Most people would not toss the gear out months later, and I can understand the legitimate efforts of all others involved show up to camps time and time again.
It's gray area with no real answer. If I was in a shell that claimed 50% of the Fafnirs, it's pretty obvious what's up. If we claim 1 out of 10 or 20, and it just so happens that months down the road one of the members of the LS is banned for using a flee tool...Was he the one responsible for the claim where I obtained said piece of equipment? I think that plays a big role in how I'd feel about that equipment. Also, was the piece of gear and abjuration that I had spent over a million of my hard earned gil uncursing? I think that plays a role in how I'd feel months later.
Is there an exact time frame at which point I will solidly keep an item? I dunno, but as I said before, it's honestly not worth it for me to get gear through cheating. I would not be around for the treasure to fall, if I knew someone hacked a claim. I would also discuss with the leader of the shell immediately. If the leader was essentially fine with the hacking (turning their head, so as to let it happen or allowing the member to stay in the LS) then I would toss my pearl. I'm not sure what's difficult to understand about how I feel about this.
There's a distinct difference between how I feel about a theoretical abjuration that would have to have been obtained from a hacked claim, where the hacker was found out months down the road, and how I would go about handling that situation....VERSUS....Blabj literally getting caught for flee and pos hacking.
That's far from a double standard. That's black and white.
If we can say everyone has benefitted at one time or another from a hacker, and leave that out there as a constant, then I guess we all need to toss out our equipment and start over. That's obviously crazy and makes no sense given the amount of time each individual puts into the game. If YOU are legit (includes awareness of the hackers around you (don't just play dumb for your own benefit)) then YOU are legit. You can't control the actions of others around you. You can only control your own.
Blabj controlled his own actions and hacked. As such, he has no place as a representative of the community.
You are trying to slap a double standard on me because I have a different view of a now known hacker modding qcdn versus how Pers or whatever shell let Godpoing repeatedly back into their shell. That's just dumb as hell.
Care to give reasons why you think a hacker should be allowed to mod the community? I've explained myself enough, and shed the double standard bullshit tossed at me. I'd like to hear what kind of a good reason you might have to keep a hacker as a mod for the community.
Blab is lucky his character was not deleted as it should have been. Beyond that, a mod is a pillar of the community. Do you think it's ok for pillars of the community to flee and pos hack?
Again, what of his LS? Will they turn their heads and allow him back in? How they handle the situation speaks volumes for the shell. Especially when you consider that there are plenty of good players out there that don't cheat. Invite them to your shell. ...Unless you are the type of shell that's ok with having known hackers amongst you. GG.
PC+1?
Edit: Mara says Element. I wouldn't know...
