Princess Bards

Heads may explode at this one, but I agree with Dejavu. It's not a rude response. If their flag's not up, they're not seeking a party. You may certainly ask, but you can't be too buttsore if they're not eager to join your group.

/asplode.

I can agree that it's annoying to get random invites when you're not seeking, but there is a nice way to say "no", as opposed to continuing conversation after the inviter(Palides) has actually terminated the convo with a "kk ty" - it effectively means "ok, I get it, moving on".

Yes. Palides can't necessarily be too hurt or irritated that someone else was irritated when they received a blind tell for a meripo.

Apparently, Arlet is Diabllos' 2nd char. Which makes it "okay" to be dickish.

Guess what people i have both BRD and COR leveled. I understand the fact of getting multiple tells to merit. All that you have to say is "No." "No thanks" "Busy" "Any fucking number of responses that aren't rude as fuck" or just don't respond at all.

About 5 of the bards I asked to merit out of the 20, were in Nashmau, Sky, or Dragon's Aery. Only one was seeking. I asked them all, "if you are busy with HNM or an event don't respond, but would you like to merit?" 2 said no, 3 didn't respond. GOOD FOR THEM THEY WEREN'T DICKS.

Fuck you Dia. Thanks for being an asshole.

For the rest of you nice bards. Thanks for just saying "nah i don't want to."

I believe my response on COR is typically

T H A tab tab Enter.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.

/anon is too much to ask in those instances, isn't it?

Stine used to get loads of blind invites and requests for party (years ago) on her WHM when she was in a level static with friends and family, along with the random "RAISE PRZ OVER HERE <POS> VALKURM DUNES". It got annoying, so she was /anon nearly all the time.

Me as BLM? Not so much :D

I usually had anon on if I didn't want to be bothered. Now when we had dynamis or some event planned I took it off to help out the party leaders. I generally had some sort of /seacom at most times if I was busy or didn't feel like partying. Even during events and parties I'd still get tells asking for parties or raises but usually I'd just politely say no.

I can understand why some people would be rude with their response. Sometimes when I was polite the person would say something like, "But I only need one more person for the party!" and I'd have to reiterate that I was busy and it was their problem. Honestly I'd rather get a rude response than none at all.

You say >> nope

I say >> kk ty

a bit later you say >> some bs about being rude

Nah. That's your bad. Not mine.

Huh? Them only needing 1 more person doesn't make you any less busy?! I call shenanigans!

during an event /anon puts too much stress on the leader of the event because if everyone had to go /anon then they would have to ask to confirm what jobs everyone is on. Truthfully in my shell i ask everyone to take anon off because some people don't like to come on their most useful jobs and having their character information shown i can see what jobs they are on.

Its really simple... flag up... i would like a party!!!
flag down... i probably don't want a party, if you would like to ask go for it but realize i may not be happy about it.
Yeah, /anon off during events takes a lot of stress off leaders.

It is a lot easier if you just don't ask them if they don't have their flag up. When I'm making parties, I do /sea all (level range) inv. If there isn't what I need seeking then I don't make a party.
If you're just standing around a city, not in a party, with no /seacom up... I don't see why you'd get all bent out of shape over an invite. Its not like there are 25,874,169,814 people seeking at any given time. As a party leader, its much better to ask people with no flag, no seacom than to wait for an hour and a half in the hopes that a healer/buffer will set their flag.
Well not everyone thinks about putting a /seacom up during an event (I sure as hell don't unless it's Dynamis) and I've even gotten invites when I had a /seacom up because they "thought it was old and I was done with the event by now." They're always the idiot who ignore /seacom completely. I don't really think it's necessary to give a assholeish reply, but /seacom doesn't always work.

definitly true, and, if you lvl brd, shouldn't you be used to this at least a bit? even anyone with raise/tele/retrace/warp gets tells when they dont want to do it lol

You dont really understand the point. You arent going to ask this guy for a party without his flag up, are you? Chances are no, youre not that retarted. And if you do, youre obviously the asshole. So this guy accomplished exactly what he wanted. Not to be bothered by you anymore.

Yep.

Basically I don't think it's rude to ask, however, if the person you're asking isn't seeking don't be surprised to get snarky response or a down right insulting one. Each person will respond their way, period.

Also, I don't think it's cool to flame someone for responding in a bad manner if you instigated by interrupting.

It's not cool, but them's the breaks when taking the risk of asking a non-seeker.

No it's not rude, but some people probably get annoyed from being asked for many merit parties when they don't want one. An easy way to get around this is the /anon function. ^.^

You shouldn't need to hide to not get bombarded with tells. There's a specific game function indicating you would like to party. If he isn't using it, there's probably a reason.

diabblos is a d bag so no surprise there....

anyone who actually gets mad when people send them a tell on a video game to ask to join an event has anger issues. get over it.

also, just because your flag isnt up doesnt mean you dont wanna xp. people cant read your minds. ive asked people to xp plenty of times and they arent seeking and they said sure. some people may just be bored and if they get a tell about xping they probably think, ok cool something to do...

if you dont want to... say no. and move on, shit... if ur getting spamm telled then ok get mad... if people simply ask you a question dont get all butthurt like 'omg my flagx not up!one how dare u ask me to party' please... that's such a pathetic excuse to get mad about somthing.

get mad about stuff that actually matters >.>

More win.

If you dont need to hide, then you also dont need to get snarky and give attitude, pure and simple. You're right, theres a function for when youre ACTIVELY seeking a party, then theres people who seek PASSIVELY as well. Again, if youre A) in a city, B) no seacom up, C) not /anon, and D) on a job thats in high demand, youre GONNA get an invite more than likely. Why? Because the job is in high demand, and chances are, the person who just asked you has probably asked every other BRD/COR/RDM that ISNT anon. Funny, it takes less key strokes to type {Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass} than it does to type "Arlet>>> If I wanted to seek I would" so that obviously shows the retard wanted to be an ass, to a person who is simply asking you if you want to PT. Arlet, Diabllos, whoever the fuck you are, would it have hurt to JUST type that? No, you had to go out of your way to be a jack ass.

I have to side with Dejavu on this one. I don't think its horrible to test your luck and ask a non seeker, sometimes it works. However you approached then while they weren't seeking so if they're annoyed and reply accordingly its totally fair game.

I would've just said well I'm sorry I just thought I'd try my luck, sorry to bother and I think that would simmer down any tension. if this flame is valid, then someone can easily flame people for inviting people who are not seeking.
