Firestreak said:60 half frames is not the same as 60 full frames. This is basic math, a 5 year old can tell you different. You're really stretching logic to hate on the PS3 to say that half the screen changing is no different than the whole screen changing, it's just a trick on your eyes that the screen appears to be changing every 1/60th of a second if you look at the screen as a whole. Doesn't mean that with the whole screen changing you're running progressive doesn't show twice as much as interlace.
Except that we're already at the limits of immersion in terms of graphics and sounds; the PS3 and 360 are already at the uncanny valley, the only place to go for more immersion is the controls; which is where the Wii is strongest.Firestreak said:Well, I don't know what they could do to make this possible, short of wiring directly into your brain, which maybe will be the natural progression for computing. Current technology cannot replicate a sense of reality because it can only control two senses for you, sight and hearing. From this standpoint, if we're trying to immerse ourselves into the game more, we can...
a) Upgrade graphics and sounds.
b) Upgrade controls.
Now I'm of the opinion that I'd rather just have more lifelike visuals and stick with a regular remote, which I'm not the least bit sick of. Gameplay can go either way... with a more powerful system you can create games that you can't with a less powerful system. With a interactive remote you can create games you can't with a regular controller.
Once the technology is out there that we can feel like we're in the game... like we're holding a sword and when our enemy blocks, the sword stops... then I'm going to support 100% whoever is bringing that out. Until that comes, and it'll probably be at least 15 years away, I don't think the traditional controller is getting phased out. If nothing else, my personal disappointment with the Wii has cemented that for me personally.
As far as your long lines of people who have been able to intuitively use your wii and never had any glitching with the controls, I can't comment on that. I can only comment that I don't think I have a defected Wii, I'm home on break now, with a large family room to test it out on and I notice problems with the Wii's controls. I'm not saying the wii sucks, just saying it's not as great as you're all hyping it. Not sure if it's the launch games, since they're overall low quality, that have failed to make Wii controls correctly implimented, or if it's the system itself. I hope it's the games, and good games will come out allowing me to compliment the wii to people and recommend it. If it's the system, I'm not going to be alone in Wii bashing.
Just to throw out, I don't know why on the internet the wii seems so popular, but when talking with friends and the folks in gamestores, they all pretty much say the xbox 360 makes wii look like a kid's toy. Haven't met one person face to face who said they think the wii is awesome.
Khali said:how the heck do you have a 'half-frame' ??? I usually compare frames as to pages in a flipbook... if you use that analogy.. how do you have a 'half-page' ?
The refresh rate can be any of 24, 30 or 60 pictures per second.
Kelyon said:Every system has its pros and cons. The Wii has a controller, that is the ONLY reason it is selling.
PS3 has blu-ray, ONLY reason that its selling.

Your news flash must have been wrong. They are not the same thing. Motion sensing vs. Tilt function are two totally different animals. The Sixaxis basically describes how crappy it really is. It has 6 directions of tilt function. The Wii remote has 360 degrees motion sensing. Same thing? Hardly.Firestreak said:And by the way, what could show more bias... ever, than blasting Sixaxis as shitty and gimmicky and calling the Wiimote a triumph of modern science?
News flash, they're the same damn thing, PS3 games just don't use it as much.
As for the rating thing. I work a EB Games and if we dont ask for ID for a M rated game we get fired on the spot. You can be wrinkled and i still wanna see day ID.Bajaratt said:Unfortunately, most parents don't seem to understand or care that there is a rating system in place for games, they just buy whatever their kids want. That's mainly why you see 12-15 year-old kids playing GTA or manhunt; because their parents didn't give a shit and just bought whatever the kids wanted. It's annoying how afterwards the parent will then attack the video game company's for making such games rather than accept that they fail at parenting.
There also isn't going to be an E3 this year like there was last year. It will still be there, but maybe 10% of the size, instead there are going to be more smaller conventions for companies to hype their games.
I've never been asked for ID buying a game, ever. I think i got asked for renting MGS once when it first came out, but i said i didn't have it and rented anyways.Kelyon said:As for the rating thing.
