ugh, whos the bitch in the robe?!?
anyone got their hand on the leaked copy yet ?
if so ,no spoiler !
If anyone actually got the leaked version instead of doing the smart thing and actually BUYING the game then shame on them >=(
Supportin' the further degradation of a once awesome series, I'll pass.
So what's so bad about it now? RE4 and RE5 still play like 0-3, mechanic wise. The only difference is the over the shoulder cam instead of a static camera that usually results in frustration. It's only natural to evolve your style as more freedom opens up to you. You can't have an over the shoulder camera in a game with prerendered backgrounds. So the moment you get true 3D, you use that to your advantage. Also seeing as how they aren't the only big Survival Horror game like they originally were, rather than being interchangeable with Silent Hill gameplay, it's good they did their own thing.
Is it the lack of zombies? The games story never really centered around the Zombies, but around the Viruses and Wesker. The Zombies just happened to be an effect of the Viruses. I'd say the games are more about the mutants than the Zombies. Lickers, Hunters, etc, and the Tyrants. After all, you don't play Mario games for the Goomba squashing, so why harp about the change in cannon fodder in the Resident Evil series?
Is it because they aren't scary? Well, I dunno about you, but getting older, not as much scares me as it used to. I prefer the tense fighting off giant swarms than the old dog jumping through a window to get my adrenaline going. There really isn't much Capcom could do to make Resident Evil scary after 3 games unless they completely changed their art direction and story in my opinion. It really became too routine, that I can't see how anyone playing the previous games wouldn't enter a room and realize somethings going to come crashing through glass.
Theres "Degradation" and then theres realizing you need to make your product stand out, while also making it something other than "more of the same."
