Multi-Plat Resident Evil 5

That looked soooo fricken awesome. Oh man, I can't wait!

God, what a cock-block at the end...

That was an awesome trailer.

Edit: I'm calling Claire! And who's Jill again? I suck at names <.<;
Edit2: Oh, right, now I remember who she is xD Yeah, suppose that makes more sense. Vid with Jill Valentine on Valentine's day...

There's this trailer too in case you've missed it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvjgsCeXxr0

That trailer makes me think its Jill even more, considering the whole "Jill Valentine" tombstone at the end.

Supportin' the further degradation of a once awesome series, I'll pass.

K-Mart's in MN broke street date on them. I bought 2 of them and sold them on ebay for like $90 already, lol.

So what's so bad about it now? RE4 and RE5 still play like 0-3, mechanic wise. The only difference is the over the shoulder cam instead of a static camera that usually results in frustration. It's only natural to evolve your style as more freedom opens up to you. You can't have an over the shoulder camera in a game with prerendered backgrounds. So the moment you get true 3D, you use that to your advantage. Also seeing as how they aren't the only big Survival Horror game like they originally were, rather than being interchangeable with Silent Hill gameplay, it's good they did their own thing.

Is it the lack of zombies? The games story never really centered around the Zombies, but around the Viruses and Wesker. The Zombies just happened to be an effect of the Viruses. I'd say the games are more about the mutants than the Zombies. Lickers, Hunters, etc, and the Tyrants. After all, you don't play Mario games for the Goomba squashing, so why harp about the change in cannon fodder in the Resident Evil series?

Is it because they aren't scary? Well, I dunno about you, but getting older, not as much scares me as it used to. I prefer the tense fighting off giant swarms than the old dog jumping through a window to get my adrenaline going. There really isn't much Capcom could do to make Resident Evil scary after 3 games unless they completely changed their art direction and story in my opinion. It really became too routine, that I can't see how anyone playing the previous games wouldn't enter a room and realize somethings going to come crashing through glass.

Theres "Degradation" and then theres realizing you need to make your product stand out, while also making it something other than "more of the same."

Refer to my earliest posts in the thread to answer your questions, I'm pretty sure I listed everything I hate about the series as it is now. 4 isn't so bad, but compared to the others (3 aside), it's nothin', the only thing makin' it above 3 is the story. Then you have the issue with 5 bein' EXTREMELY short, when reviewers are beatin' it in 7 hours, that's just pathetic. In the case you don't want to read my earlier post to answer your questions, the only thing keepin' this from bein' just another action game, which it has degraded to at this point, action game (with no Vs. multiplayer mind you), is the story will probably be good. Somethin' I don't remember ever touchin' on though, my basis on any of this has nothin' to do with the scare factor, the other games didn't scare me, and honestly, I hate bein' jumpy durin' entertainment, so that has no weight in my opinion at all. Anyway, lookin' at 1, 2, Code veronica, 0, the remakes, definitely degradation, definitely.

I have to disagree. 4 and 5 play exactly like their predecessors, just with a different camera angle, and a change from cheap predictable scares between droves of worthless cannon fodder and puzzles, to long and tense skirmishes between droves of worthless cannon fodder and puzzles. And the co-op in 5 is just expanding on how the other games before had you switch between characters at one point or another. Hell, 0 was basically a single player co-op game the whole time. Theres really no reason to call it "just another action game" without it applying to the others as well.

Genre doesn't hinge on camera angles. Metroid Prime is still as much of an Adventure series as the original games, all being in first person did was increase immersion and allowed Retro to add in different puzzle and platforming elements.

Camera angles has nothin' to do with it either. Seems to me like you'd rather be shootin' and blowin' things up than figure out where this goes, how that works, where do I go now, where is that, how do I do this then. Two series stood out from others when it came to action and puzzles, that IS Tomb Raider and WAS Resident Evil. Tomb Raider is a lot easier now but at least it's still Tomb Raider, Resident Evil on the other hand, now plays no differently than any other action game on the market, you aim, shoot, move, rinse, repeat, etc. The only thing that sets it apart from a lot of the others is the stories. There really isn't a single thing stoppin' me from sayin' just another Gears, but then I remembered, it doesn't have versus MP.

If that doesn't suit you then just get over the fact we ain't all goin' to enjoy the same things. I prefer the old Resident Evil to the new purely from a gameplay perspective not a "Capcom sold out" Elemmire type perspective, sorry to drag you in to this Ele. I still love Capcom very much and I gladly accept Lost Planet as their apology.

I'd be willing to throw 0 in with 4 as far as stupid resident evil games go. If you are playing the PS1 versions, you probably aren't going to get scared, just because of how ugly the games have gotten. If you play the GC remakes of any of them, especially Resident Evil, and you don't get scared ever, i take my hat off to you.

So Versus mode is going to come as DLC and cost $5 to get. That's pretty fucking lame.

There is something about the fixed cameras and still backgrounds of part 1-3 i just feel was the way the game should remain. I dunno. It is weird for me to praise something so old because i am a graphic and tech whore... But to me the Resident evil series is indeed becoming less and less apealing to me. Will i be picking up 5? For sure... Its the first RE in HD...
