RMT: Behind the Scenes

For those who repeatly charge and harass RMT in the game: I call Shame on you. It maybe be a low paying job, but its still a job regardless, if you insist on being mad on someone, blame interent brokers such as IGE who give them less what they have worked for.

Its is said how the lives of the people behind the RMT avatars live, 12 hour work shifts and gather outside or sleep just to make it to the next day, and get fired if their account is banned from the gaming company.

No... RMT live rather good lives. They make the choice to work those jobs because they are GOOD jobs that pay more than the average sweat shop which is where they would be if not for sites like IGE. Their job is to lie, cheat and steal from average players and they've done just that. They've even resorted to sending viruses to websites in the hopes of hacking players accounts and done so quite successfully too. They've even gone as far as to attack POL and you want to show them as mistreated? OK...

Don't blame the prostitutes, blame the pimps!

Makes perfect sense.

wasn't this exact video posted a long long time ago?

Well it was added to youtube almost 2 years ago lol.

They know it's against the user agreement when they join up with an RMT group. I feel no sympathy for them, as they knew the risks when they started. If they get fired, it's no skin off my back.

I agree with Xali.

They're not making an honest living so I do not feel bad when they are fired.

Do I think it's bullshit that people in jesus-christ-monkey-balls-poor areas are getting exploited by having a high paying job via cheating on a video game? Fuck yes I do. I would like every one of those guys going 'hey get me gil and I'll give you an american dollar that amounts to a weeks worth of groceries in your city' to get hit by a bus? Definitely.

Who I dont feel sorry for? The NA and EU kids that sit around in mom's house all day that are RMT for their 'American based companies' that don't have jobs and are basically a waste of good oxygen.

Also, seems like it's a requirement that this topic comes up once a year or so. We're just getting this year's done early!

I doubt anyone who has compassion for them would feel the same way if it was their account or a friends they end up jacking to make their " honest living".

I don't understand the big deal. You play the game for a grueling 12 hour shift, and get paid for it? I have to pay to be able to play for 12 hours >.>

Not supporting RMT, just saying its funny how they make it seem, when a majority of MMoRPG players usually play for that amount of time, and even possibly more.

You sit on your ass doing monotonous tasks like farming and fishing. You sometimes farm for money, yes? But when you're bored or you feel you've done enough for the day, you go do something else. Not them.

makes me laugh when the guy talks about "a little room"...

if there is anyway to monopolize something, rmt swarm on it like flies on shit. a little room turns into them owning said market, and forcing ppl to buy from them, like it was years ago.

sounds like china

that sounds like my RL job. Thats why its a JOB, who said it was supposed to be fun?

He who assumes that playing a game for 12 hours a day would be fun.

They're mostly responsible for giving video games item a real money value. That should never happen. Yeah, it sucks that they barely make any money and have crappy work conditions, but they need to get the f out.

In my opinion, buying gold/gil in a game (where it is against the license agreement to do so) is similar to paying for pirated software. You don't support the people that sell pirated copies of software for $2 in china town, do you?

2 sides to the coin. Without knowing the FULL truth, bc god only knows how that vid may have been edited, it's shameful that a large population in China feel these jobs are the better choice over others.

Indeed the Brokers would be more at blame ONLY in the sense that if there were stricter regulations on Brokerages, for instance being punishable by law, there would be no choice but for the RMTs to look elsewhere for work.

I have no doubt that for the most part the do work in more deplorable environments, and I'm fairly certain that they are being exploited. That's what seems to be happening more and more. Outsourcing at it's finest.

He who assumes that playing a game for 12 hours a day would be fun.

And assumes they're playing at all. My idea of "playing" a game isn't hitting the same mining nodes or MMORPG fishing over and over for 12 hours a day.

When you're desperate to take care of a family, you'll do anything. Including RMT. And I doubt people there actually "hack" web sites and auto-upload to people's computers whom use certain sites in discussion.

I think the programmers are here, who steal accounts, give the info to RMT over seas and they do the dirty work. I'm not saying it's right, but, between doing your job and not caring about someone's account which they can get back, feeding your family off $2.00 a day, or working at another sweat shop for 25 cents a day, which would you choose?

They know what they're doing, if I were in their position, hell yeah I would know it's wrong to take stolen account information, but when it came down to those 3 things, you bet I'd take your stuff. Is it the right decision morally? No it isn't.

And for all you flamming RMT stealing accounts, my post is only based off IF RMT actually were the thieves. For all we know it could be some 18 year old in CA hacking sites and keylogging people's information. And using RMT as a scapegoat. I've never seen an official article from SE stating that Chinese RMT were the ones stealing accounts, but what I have seen is SE charging a few people who lived in the US with stealing accounts. So if you don't know what you're saying is 100% fact, don't rail on speculation.

Isn't selling something you don't have the rights to(virtual items) for money a definition of being a thief? Well, it's technically fencing, but you're still using something that doesn't belong to you.

Anyway. I feel about as much for them as I do celebrities hitting the Scientology craze. They're both participating in a giant con pyramid scheme thats only going to make one persons life better. Hint: Not theirs.
