Started playing about an hour ago, i only have a guitar.
My first impression was that it was too simple. The character models looked low quality and clunky, and when i saw the guitar notes they felt weird because they are not circles, but flat little bars of color.
once i started playing for awhile, The songs became fun fast and the band animation felt so energetic and fun, and the crowd even sings along some times.
The feeling of the band being a real group of people who enjoy playing together is there unlike GH that felt like a bunch of people slapped together to do cover songs.
you will know if you five star'd a song before it ends as you hear a little chime every time to get a star higher, and the star meter bar is right there to tell you how far you are from it.
During solos it shows a percentage that counts up the more notes you hit, if you hit every note it will say 100% perfect solo, or a lower percentage if you miss some.
one thing ive noticed so far is i have not seen ANY hammer ons and pull offs. i started on hard mode, and find it odd i have not seen any.
Any songs that make their appearance from GH will have the same notes has its original appearance.
The song list, overall, feels more fun and better than GHIII. ive liked every song ive played so far.
you can customize your character as well, which is a nice added plus. and when you complete songs you get cash and more items to add to your character, i cant wait to see how this pans out with the other instruments.
i love how the band interacts with each other, it looks so fluid, so real. This makes it feel so much better than the stale band in GH, and each song has its own animations! awesome!
