SCH vs BLM

didn't think there'd be much of a comparison since....blm would have the better spells and mab traits as well as places for top of the line gear that's anything magic damage related.

not crapping on your thread but, it'd be interesting to know how close sch comes i'll check the link^^

edit: damn nevermind i'll check when i get home...damn HS filters

Blm will do more, but damn does sch bring AoE's to the table and curing potential too. Really, if your blm party in dynamis or something was 4xblm, 1xcor, 1xsch... it'd be nasty. I mean, sch is meant to be a supportive job so it's hard for me to imagine that it trounces a blm.

I thought you were in college...
Regardless, sharing the same sentiments as everyone else that SCH wouldn't match up the damage that BLM does.
But damn, as a support job it rocks out.

SCH is superior because it can use it's MP more efficienltly than BLM. Granted BLM will have better accuracy and bigger number on BLM, but in the long run SCH will win. If you do dynamis, you could do a parse of the BLM pt with a SCH inside.

Also SCH can play Healer a lot better than BLM/???, can "manage aggro" possibly as good/better than rdm etc ..

I agree. BLM may be able to put up the big numbers, but in fights where you're looking at performance over a long time, SCH will pull out higher.

i am in college...i'm doing a part time job at my HS tutoring lol, regardless...

As far as the healer thing goes...sounds null and void, since healing ability and use is pretty much depending on the player, abilities help but they aren't the determining factor lol.

But performance over long time also usually means higher resist mobs. I wonder how sch would do against something like JoL.

Also, how often can Ebullience and Parsimony be used? Idk anything about sch.

Hmmm, it appears I fell in SE's trap (carefully laid for non patient gamers) and underestimated SCH when it came out... ; ;

At 75, you'd have four charges which recharge once a minute. So using both at the same time, you could do that two times, then have to wait four minutes for all four charges to come back.

Well I'm inclined to say in a long fight BLM will beat out SCH because MP really isn't an issue (plus the aforementioned issues of higher resist mobs). Would like to see some tests though

you have to consider the DoT damage, and also the amazing support and healing capabilities.

I wasn't necessarily talking about damage alone, I'm talking about general use in an alliance.

Also, MP really isn't an issue either when you have that refresh convert thingy

I didn't mean sch had mp issues.

I meant saying SCH is better because it can handle MP better isn't a good point because BLM wouldn't have mp issues in a long term fight.

SCH with elemental skill build shouldn't have trouble on JoL

during dark arts, elemetnal skill = 256 + 16(merits) + 15 (AF body) = 287

which is already overkill for dyanmis, limbus, merits.

then they can wear some +skill from gear
elite beret/+1 (+4/5) elemental torque (+7) elemental earring (+3) wizzard's earring (+5 but need blm sub), genie gages (+ 8 ), merciful cape (+5), druid slops (+5) = +38 (33 if no /blm)

This put you at 220/225 elemental skill on thunder, 230/235 elemental skill on blizzard, which is more than enaugh for most activities outside Kirin. The fact you don't have to rest as much as BLM easily compensate for the 20 skill difference with a BLM.

edit : also Klimaform..

blm/bst ftw.

Sorry, just dropping by. I quit about the time SCH came out. I'd love to see some tests on this. I still read these forums. Can't ever possibly forget ffxi...

It can be used pretty often and multiple times.

Scholar is more MP efficient even on something like chaining puddings. Kaeko did the tests and has posted most of what Tav has come up with and more back in March... here is the post http://kanican.livejournal.com/26917.html#cutid2

Tav's numbers are great and his Nyzul uses further expand the job. However everyone wont be able to output the damage he does because he is another level of Blm and Sch than most.

I am a bit curious to see your resists parsed on Ix drk... not saying there were a ton but even I get some here and there so if your average ele skill on drk is less than mine I'd expect to see more which change your DoT. Perhaps insignificant but nobody ever posts their resists just their top dmg and I feel you can sometimes get a skewed perspective.

As for Scholar on something where u need alot of Ele skill... scholar is unlikely to keep up with Blm but they can turn Love black which looks really cool and is all that matters :P I had a pic but its on the wrong computer :(

Scholar is getting close to the needed elemental skill for highly magic resistant mobs... a piece or two with + Ele skill in future updates and they will be there. Still the job is so versatile it's amazing.

Tav on floors where it says eliminate all enemies have you tried giving everyone AoE -en spells? It seems to work well in salvage so I figure on those floors only it will as well since the mobs have such low HP/Def/Eva etc.

Ix Aerns don't resist my RDM so obviously they wouldn't resist SCH.

You are probably right.
