For my first ever post on the flameboard, I present a tiny rant...
Disclaimer:Before I start, I am in no way complaining about the ads, or the content of anything here on QCDN, if I had a problem with QCDN, I wouldn't come here. It doesn't get any simpler really, if you don't like the content of a site or the ads on it, don't go there anymore, go somewhere else.
The following screenie is what brought this on really, kind of a hint towards how lazy people really can be when doing anything, even playing video games.
(note: I blacked out the address just in case someone wanted it, they can find it themselves, I won't be helping someone find this "tool")
A mob radar?? Seriously, how does someone not know what kind of mobs pop in an area? I'm sure the main purpose of this little trinket is to track down NMs without widescan, it probably even has plugin capabilities to drop an overlay on your map, and give you some kind of radar display on your screen, I don't know and don't care to find out really.
I can understand someone not knowing what kinds of mobs, or what specific mobs pop in a certain area if they're not familiar with that zone and whatnot, that's why some sites have a beastiary(sp?), usually listing the mobs by zone(s) and level ranges, and occasionally what their drops are too.
Back on track...
I can't stand the fact that some lazy (rude term describing said types of people withheld) would actually buy this, there may be free ones out there too, I haven't a clue. Anyway, it just drives me nuts the way people will always look for the easy way out when doing just about anything, I could go into a detailed list of such things, but I'll sit here for hours, and probably get timed out on my QCDN login before I'm finished typing it all out.
These people just make me sick, I may use the windower, but I broke down and got it for one reason, and one reason only: I got sick and tired of logging out to look up info, write it down, log back in, and then find out it wasn't entirely accurate to being with, and then log out again to find something more accurate to repeat the process again just for some info that I would have had prepared if I knew I was going to need it. Yes, that is somewhat lazy of me to do, and I wouldn't even be doing it if SE would have just allowed us to alt+tab out in the first place without the whole "full screen lost" bs.
Again, I wandered off topic ><. These little "tools" such as the old "Mrargus" and the infamous bots, and now this "mob radar" are total garbage in my book, they are fair in no way whatsoever and anyone who would think they need such things should just walk into the nearest clinic or whatnot and kindly surrender their ability to have children so as not to bring about more "Darwin Awards" so to speak. I'm aware that that comes off a bit harsh, and it's a bit of an exaggeration on what I really think, but I'm just simplifying my point.
Seriously, if you need to know what kind of mobs are in an area, try looking up the beastiary on Alla, or the new addtion to the FFXI Atlas that they're working on currently, I'm sure it'll be really useful once they're done implementing it along with the extremely useful maps that they provide with NM/Elemental/Chest/Coffer pops and such on them.
I'm gonna just cut my ranting here, I need my sleep for the day ahead.
I may come back to this and get into a little more detail or clarify a few points that I've probably left a little fuzzy in my currently tired state.
Thank you all for your time.
