Star Ocean 4....

Awesome game so far, the battle system and the crafting system is excellent.

I got it yesterday and have yet to give it a shot :(

I can confirm that you DON'T need to swap discs back and forth to get back to previous areas(might need to for planets, but you don't even need to revisit planets as far as I know unless you wanna do sidequests)

I was wondering...because SO3 had a way better system then S02 lol

The 3D battle system made it a lot more complicated and turning it was less than ideal. In SO2 you could see the whole field and you didn't need to bother with the camera. This follows a lot more with 3's battle system and made the camera even more erratic. I'll stick to SO2.

Well SO4 does have a camera mode that zooms out letting you see much more of the battle field. Just push in the right analog stick and it changes camera modes.

Well I'm enjoying this game a lot. Not sure where I'll rank this yet. I've pretty much played every rpg that has came out this gen and not too many top Mass Effect, ToV, and Valkyria Chronicles.

This was released? Fucking Gamestop never called.

So is there a way to switch targets while in battle mode or do you just have to suck it up and attack what the game wants you to?

I don't think there is, but there is a way to lock on to a target so the computer doesn't automatically switch you off.

Put about an hour and a half into the game this morning. Not bad, though doesn't have the magic and charm that SO2 had. The cutscenes are just a little too long, but overall it's a good product so far that I'll look forward to playing for a while.

Yeah, I know about that. I just hate how the book says "While in combat your target will be your closest opponent", or somethin' similar to that, yet when I run to the one I want to attack and press A, I end up runnin' off to attack whatever the hell the CPU wants me to attack...

So I've Googled and read a few forums but I haven't found anythin' concrete yet, though I know people have beaten the game already, but does your monster data carry over to your next playthrough? I'm kind of curious as to how you'd get 100% complete for the achievements when you can only fight the bosses once. I know their is a little "cheat" type thing where you can save before a boss, kill it, then die and re-run it a few times to max it out but it seems that wouldn't be the true intention of the makers. I'm also curious as to whether or not your levels, recipes, and items carry over to the other difficulty settings, though I doubt it.

So I picked it up. It's entertaining but the first boss encounter and the boss on the Cardinon Mothership fucking sucked balls (the latter because Reimi died right at the end so she missed out on the 10k exp).

Sucked how? I annihilated both bosses and I'm on normal.

That first boss was simple...

So far, the maps are so huge, I feel over leveled by the time I hit a boss.

For the bosses you can do the following:
1) Save before fighting the boss
2) Fight the boss!
3) Save to a DIFFERENT save
4) Reload previous save
5) Beat the boss again!
6) Save to a DIFFERENT save (can be the same as #3 or another new one if you want)
7) Repeat 4-6 until you have 100% data for that boss
8) Continue playing using one of your post-boss saves of choice

Since the above works (I've done it against all bosses for 100% scanning of those bosses), it seems to imply that the data is carried through all of your saves. I haven't tried creating a new game completely to test that, but it seems likely. If not, I would imagine NG+ would carry the data over if nothing else.

BTW: For that achievement, you just have to have fought every enemy once. 100% scanning isn't required, it's just worded poorly.
