Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

The intelligent thing to have done would be to wait until you play the game before arguing about its quality when all you have to go on is pure bias.

Quoted for motha F'in truth.

This. I thought the game looked pretty cool after playing the demo, after playing the demo, this game will be nothing more than a preorder i'll be putting towards Rock Band 2 Bundle.

But none of you have played the "game". Just a Demo. Tales of Vesperia demo was absolutely boring and terrible because they had most the characters, moves, and everything else locked down. That game is awesome!

How many times does a Demo not represent the game? How do we know the story won't be super kickass, and you'll get some really nice combo's with the force abilites as the game goes on.

There are factors that have to be considered.

First, there's more out there, entertainment-wise that I want than I can afford to spend. High def projectors, a PSP with a TV-out, several PS3/360 games, many blu-ray movies...

I can't buy a game that I anticipate I won't like just because there's a chance I might end up liking it.

Then, considering everyone loves this very mediocre demo to death, I can only assume people are going to love the game. If people disliked the demo the same as I did, and then turned around and loved the game, then I could theorize the demo was just a bad show. Unfortunately, that won't be possible, because people cheer for this demo too damn much.

Sure, consider the demo's dilemma. For many games, the demo just shows the gameplay and the actual game is in the level design. Take for example, Pixeljunk Monsters/Eden, Gripshift... all of them were so-so on the demo, but when I got to the medium and difficult levels, they were my favorite games of this gen... I can't be sure that Star Wars: TFU isn't the same way... but, it's a $60 game to try out, not a $10 - and I can't buy every single new release hoping to find a gem in the rough.

I hear ya man. I only spend on stuff that I truly want as well. TFU is not on my top list. It'll wait awhile. Im just hoping it's something like Shadows of the Empire lol.

I have Tales of Vesperia, and Infinite Undiscovery first. Then Fable 2. Might try TFU after that, but then again i might be playing Fallout 3. If it was a KOTOR game, that would be different though!

After playing that game in store yesterday, i'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. They made it from a "Tales of" game and made it in to another generic JRPG. Yet another game i was hoping would be good, but got next gen'd.

Tales games are inconsistant. I loved the Abyss and I can't finish Legendia. With a backlog like I have, I can easily chill and wait for price drops, though I might need to grab Disgaea 3 since who knows with those games what'll happen. Probably wind up costing $100 on ebay by the year's end.

Give it a try when it comes down then. It truly sticks the same formula Tales games have always used, just made it better. Playing it in a store won't give you a very good scope of the game imo. To me, Tales of Destiny II (not the remake of Tales of Destiny) was the best. Tales of Abyss was 2nd.

This one tops them big time. Great voice acting, really good story, and so far I truly feel the power of the characters as they level. Also, the level of detail in some of the enviroments make visual quality of Eternal Sonota look amateur.

For straightup RPG's. This one and LO are really close for me. (discounting ME)

I played the demo today for SWTFU and I must say I dont see what some of you dont like about the game. It is complex enough that you have to take full advantage of your force powers on the harder difficulties otherwise youre gonna become swiss cheese. I admit that on the easier levels its just a hack-n-slash button mashing fest tho........but either way I am buying this game for the simple fun factor of being able to grab storm troopers and launch them like rag dolls lmao

Well I got my new copy of EGM today. They gave SWFU a score of C. They said that the game has a pretty good story, but gets kinda hard in the later levels. They were upset that you can't just molest everything you see in the later levels w/ their force powers. So that should be a positive for those who said the demo was far too easy even on hard difficulty. I will probably still pick up this title because I really enjoyed Jedi Academy on xbox. This seems to be a step up from it.

Yeah, I read that too. They really trashed the game. Good thing I don't care what EGM has to say about it. (or anyone for that matter, except my friends) I'm still buying it. It will be awesome to play. I did find it funny that they were so upset at the fact that while you have these badass powers that enemies find a way to nullify them to some extent.

Well duh.. the game can't just be one big cake walk, that wouldn't be challenging at all. While I understand their basic gripe, that that aspect weakens the very idea of the force powers, expecially since in this game they're truly "Unleashed" in ways that haven't been explored in previous SW games. But seriously, while they are awesome, the game can't be challenging if you truly were to make the force powers 100% realistic vs. your enemies.

>.> If that were the case id just fling every baddie into the cieling and watch them crumple or thud when they hit the ground. Eventually that would get boring and I'd have to return the game.

Well its very plausible through the years that technology was created to combat force users. It is also very plausible that the Emperor has special groups in his army that were trained to fight and kill force users. If I remember correctly the Emperor's Royal Guard is trained to a certain extent in the ways of the force.

So basically, you criticize impressions of the demo before playing it yourself, and now you're criticizing reviews before playing the actual game. Basically Lucasarts can shit in a box and you'll demand people love it.

I just said that you can't criticize a games difficulty by a demo was my beef. They said that if you enjoy the movie series you will really enjoy the game though. I enjoy the series so I will give it a chance even w/ the average reviews it has received.

Don't mind Fire, he's got a problem with me rating him down because he critisized the demo and picked it apart for everything that he felt was wrong with it.. which was everything in his opinion.

He's just sore because I don't agree. I feel the game is going to be great, and hey, less than 10 days left until it's release.

Honestly, you don't have to have played the demo to form an opinion. I then played the demo, and felt stronger about it. There were minor camera issues, but once I got used to the way it (the demo) played it really wasn't disappointing. I will also say that I have not really played too many fully 3 dimensional games that utilize the camera in such a way as TFU does before playing the demo. Therefore it took me some time to get used to the controls, it will still take me a little time once I actually own the game to get familiar with the camera vs. character articulation once again. I really am not quite used to having full control of the camera while playing such an action orientated game.

That was my only qualm with the demo, but that's minor and can be fixed by familiarization.

I couldn't care less about my rating and I have no idea why anyone would.

I don't care that you disagree. I, however don't care for the basis of your opinions. When a demo is out that's free to download - and people are discussing their impressions based on that demo, it's fairly stupid to enter that discussion, and go off the handle, based on your opinion, not actually playing that demo.

I was interested in this game as well... UNTIL I played the demo, that's the thing. I love Star Wars, that doesn't mean I'm going to support a half assed game cause it has the Star Wars IP.

I had no problem with the camera. It just felt to me exactly like the last Star Wars game I played, Star Wars Episode 3, only that game had co-op, which was the only reason I enjoyed it. It was nothing spectacular, and there are a lot of really good games of this type. The fact that a game this average game is getting so much hype, and getting a lol... midnight release, it just silly, and it really needs to get taken down a peg.

Seriously Force Unleashed is going to blow by the demo impression.

I'll rent it, blast though in a weekend, send it back.

Throwing wookies off a bridge doesn't get old. It'd be nice to crush the skull of an ewok, though.

My favorite bit was the gungun hanging on a trophy room wall, encased in carbonite.
