To me, at least, QCDN used to be great. When I started playing this game and found this site, I thought it was awesome that I had a place to go outside of the game to meet people, ask for help, see some funny shit on the flameboard, and watch others progress. There was little moderation, partially because Sculli was roughly as useful as Reeve, and partially because nobody needed or wanted moderation. It was a social board, where you could come and post, whether it was 2 words or 20 pages, and just chat. It was fun. It was enjoyable. It was worth checking more than once every three days.
Now, and really over the last year+, post counts and reputation bars and whatever the hell else people obsess with anymore, combined with Nazi-esque moderation, turned this into a garbage hole that repels users like Lindsay Lohans pussy. I do agree with Audino in the fact that people like Meeze/Jamal, and even the worst of the worst such as Blazn/Shaunessy/Windaria etc., are needed. If you want to keep users around, there has to be something interesting. This board sees what, 100 posts a day? If that? The assholes and morons attracted people. Some of those people spilled into the other 20 areas of this site not named the Flameboard and actually contributed. Whether it was useful contributions or not is debatable, but nobody cared back then.
I know the QCDN Holier-than-thou Empire will probably refute, but to the rest of the regular users: How many times have you seen someone in-game and chatted with them because of something they said or posted on this board? Hell, that's how I've made half of my friends in this game. Back then, it was usually some one-liner or clever post that made me think "That was pretty funny, I'd probably enjoy hanging out with this person". Now, that gets you banned.
I remember meeting Kotsu because we were both "threadcrapping" in one of those old porno spam-bot threads. He became one of my better in-game friends. We didn't care about PC+1's or reputations, we were making jokes, having fun. It used to be about fun. The whiners and criers came a running. Those people should have been told "Deal with it, read past it, or leave, your choice!". Instead, they were accommodated to, and this is what you have left; A hollow shell of what once used to be an enjoyable place to read and chat around for an hour or two a day.
