Looks like they are pretty busy.

Ok first of all i admit that i am a bit cynical... its actually one of the traits that i like about myself.

Why do you like being cynical? Don't you have other qualities to like about yourself? That seems like a self respect issue to me.

In the begging of the summer, my hard core Republican cousins were here and they were SOOO confident that Obama would loose. "The amount of blacks in America only take up 12% of the population, he can't win by that." I ignored it since they were my moms cousins and I didn't want to be disrespectful, but c'mon. You can't just assume that he's going to loose because he's black. FYI, they're from Buffalo New York.

I agree with TG and want to say shut up as well. Shut up does the trick I think for the frustrating comments. "Looks like we'll see Biden in a few months..." Yeah, be quiet. It's not THAT bad in the U.S. and it's only going to improve as time goes on.

Oh, and my cousins facebook statues (the 16 year old sun of my mothers cousins) are The Dark Ages - rich poor drug dealer.. doesn't matter we all make the same amount of money... obama 08. - no need to worry crack dealers, we all make the same amount of money now.

He was such a good kid.

I may be cynical... yes but i tell you what... i am going to make sure i have ammo for all of my guns in case i need to protect myself.

Yes, I'd say you're extremely cynical. Race-baiting hysterics have been jerking off to the idea of one big race war that'll finally let them go out and start shooting black people coming to steal their televisions or white women, and it hasn't happened yet.

On another note, this made my head explode. I knew Ralph Nader was a douche -- although I regularly argued with anyone who said he shouldn't run and "spoil" the election -- but to have the dude from Fox News give him a verbal assbeating for referring to Obama as "Uncle Tom" was truly an unexpected pleasure.

Ok... Cynical

1. like or characteristic of a cynic; distrusting or disparaging the motives of others.
2. showing contempt for accepted standards of honesty or morality by one's actions, esp. by actions that exploit the scruples of others.
3. bitterly or sneeringly distrustful, contemptuous, or pessimistic.

I prefer to use the bolded definition. And i look at that as being careful and as a marketing major... i have been taught how to be even more cynical in looking for small things that influence people. Such as color theory and spatial arangement. For example look at my sig that Davion made me... There are several things going on in it that people do not know of but those that are close to me may realize.

First of all the order of the jobs i ordered them from right to left in the order of how much i enjoy playing them and made bard "god" to signify that it is the best or my favorite. I also included god to show my complete contempt for western religion in that all of my jobs are also making an evolution type progression and there is no bigger slap in the face to god than to include it as just another step in humanity. Then there is the fact that i decided to make the background blue which is there to represent that i am not trying to be aggressive towards anyone. There are a lot more indicators than that like the fomor face but the truth is that most of the people that look at my sig wont notice any of them or if they do it will typically only be one. I have had one person actually comment on my signature and hit most of my hidden messages and that was Mulletjunky who i believe is largely as cynical as myself.

The fact is that even subconsciously almost everything someone does has a motive behind it.

So lets play with you subconcious for a second. first of all lets take a look your avatar is a soap opera star who plays a power hungry character named Victor which makes sense when i look at your sig and see that you play whm because you want to feel like you hold the power of peoples lives in your hand. Another indicator that you seek power is the large amount of Red and yellow which are power colors and the sun shape that is in the middle of your sig. Also you have your eyes blacked out which is normally an indication of someone who has little to no remorse for others.

Oh but then again you didnt make the sig Iso did so maybe this is just how Iso sees you. I am not saying that cynicism is perfect but it is a useful tool to drawing some initial ideas about a situation and how someone wishes to be perceived. Peoples motives are not always clear and cynicism helps to shed light on that so i still believe that it is a very good quality.

Don't just think something ask yourself why am i thinking this and you too will become a cynic.

There is so much to comment on in this thread, but this one post stands out. Sorry Ecks, but that's a bullshit excuse. I myself really REALLY hated my choices for president, and in fact have not been excited about a candidate since 96, but I went to the polls, not for the presidential election, but because of some local races and state issues. Election day is not just about the president, there are a lot of things that get voted on and I'm sure that you could easily find something that means something to you and probably several things that impact your life.

Alanon, don't want you to think I'm ignoring you, but it's late and my body and brain aren't rested like they were yesterday. So I'm holding off my response, which will probably come Friday. If this thread is closed by then we can continue in PM if you wish. If not, no real loss to either of us.

In short, what I said is how I feel. Everyone has their reasons to vote and that's my reason for not voting. You don't feel the same way, why should you? You aren't me. I don't expect you to understand me. I was merely making a statement and giving my reason for not voting. It frustrates me to no end when I hear people get pissy because someone tells them they didn't vote. My reason is my reason, my belief. If you don't like it, quite frankly I don't care. Looks like I went and responded anyway. Time to finish relaxing before I doze off for the night.

After what has definitely been one of the most exhausting election years in recent history... I have only this to say:

AMERICA GOT THE PRESIDENT IT DESERVES.

The beauty of it is, no matter who you voted for, you will probably agree with that statement. I know I do.

Heh, I'm along the same lines. When I saw the results I said to myself, "Congratulations America majority, you voted for murder and if not murder, chaos in the very least case situation." Heh, even if somethin' bad does happen to him, I don't think it'll end like with the others. This is gonna get nasty.

Welp, nothin' more I can do than sit back and watch what the majority of you stirred up. Should be interestin', thanks in advance for the show. May our punishment be light.

Soooo... we are being punished for putting the right person in charge? So, out of fear of assassination, and ensueing chaos, we should have voted McCain? Even if we had a direct threat from someone specifically saying Obama would be assassinated upon him being elected, I would like to hope the vote would still have turned out the same. I don't know where you grew up, but this is not a nation of cowards.

So what made people like Ron Paul trustworthy (I think it was you who supported him)? Did the way the internet portrayed him have any effect on your opinions of him or would you of agreed with his positions even if they all belonged to a "guy you know from work". If Ron Paul was a nobody who posted on QCDN, would you of gone "hey! this dude should run for president!"

As for obama's motives, I honestly believe his main motive is to be a great man for the history books. He wants to be a name an 8th grader in the year 2400 both recognizes and can say a little bit about, being the first black president isn't enough for this, he needs to make a lasting impression on this nation. He's not doing it for "the people" he's doing it for himself, it just so happens that what's good for "the people" is good for him, and that's why I do have a trust in him. If I'm right about his motives, it's going to be hard to corrupt him with money and power, because what he wants is greatness. Weather or not he'll make a good president has yet to be seen, but I can't find any serious major faults with him yet and I like most, not all of his policies, and shows enough promise to be worth a shot, moreso than anyone else.

I agree with this fully.

It's "ensuing". I guess we're not a nation of idiots either.

Wait for it.
Wait for it.

Ah thank you because you seem to be helping me to argue my point. I do support Ron Paul and I can tell you exactly why i did and would still if given the chance. Consistency. You can look at a speech that he gave in 1988 and one that he gave in 2008 and he is talking about the same things that are fundamentally wrong with our system. Beyond that his voting record during that period is perfectly inline with his values and what he talks about. He is not perfect by any means but i still believe that he is and was the best candidate for the job this year.

As far as his motives for wanting to run are concerned i originally did question them but over time i have come to the conclusion that he is the reluctant leader type in that he is only running for the office of the president because he disagrees with everyone else who is currently viable for the position.

I also agree with you on Obama's motives i do believe that his desire is to get to the Iconic status in history and just because of the color of his skin i believe that he is already there. Now i do believe that he also wants to be Iconic for what he achieves and with a democratic house and senate behind him this is a strong possibility. The problem is that we have a spending problem in this country and the only solutions that he and Pelosi are really giving us are other ways to spend money. I do believe that he will achieve the Iconic status that he desires but for one of 2 reasons... Either he will be Martyred before he gets anything substantial done and become the next JFK/MLK or he will become the next Carter... Either way i see the country as worse off once he is gone.

Now i am not trying to make the case for McCain here either because i think that he is just as bad if not worse for the US as Obama is the only difference is that with Obama in charge at least the rest of the world may be willing to help us instead of wanting to Shoot us. Also i see McCain as a power hungry jackass who thinks that POTUS is owed to him for what he went through earlier in his life... I have never seen anyone who seems to feel more entitled than him.

This really is a historic election no matter what way you look at it. It is the beginning of 4 more years of putting fuel on the fire. The question is really what exactly is going to happen but i can almost guarantee you no matter what it is we cant afford it.

Bear in mind we have nearly a decade of Republican rule to thank for the current sky-high budget deficits. One of the differences between Bush and Obama/Pelosi is that the latter are actually planning to ensure we have the money for it. You may not agree with their plan to roll back the Bush tax cuts, but you can't exactly accuse them of being fiscally irresponsible.

Ecks man, I didn't mean to make it sound like a personal attack. I'm just saying that just because the presidential election did not interest you, does not mean that you shouldn't vote for other issues. I know that the presidential race is the hot topic and that the media tried to build up false suspense on election night to keep us watching their coverage, but there were other important things going on.
