THE OFFICIAL 2009 FOOTBALL SEASON SMACK TALKING THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong here, I know you guys aren't tryin' to downplay Payton, but I think you guys are missing to notice why he gets the amount of respect he does. Tom is good, Drew is good, hell, they are both fantastic, but Payton is about as close as you'll get to having an offensive coordinator on the field with your team.

That aside, I'm glad the Saints won. They have a good story and I feel like they played their hearts out for the love of the game and city more so than other teams' players. I especially like the fact that Dallas let Sean go to keep Garret (so not a "red head wonder" in my book) and passed on Drew to give Prima Donna Romo the head. I bet Jerry Jones is kickin' himself right now and I couldn't ask for much more. It'd be even better to watch them repeat next season in Dallas.

I tend to look at comparisons in a 5 year period. 5 years is long enough to show consistency and short enough to not drag on stats.. If you look at the last 5 years Manning, Brees and Brady have been the best QBs in the game and thats not an order. Their stats over that period of time are all very very similar. The rest of the QBs you mention are not even in the same area in that period. Its funny because the old boys Warner and Favre put up closer numbers, maybe very close but i dont feel like looking right now. Anyways the only thing i was getting at earlier is with all the media hype over Manning they forgot Brees is just as good at this point. Guess he reminded em eh?

I've never slept on Brees, he's a great QB don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorites even. I wish Brees does get more rings and outdo's Brady actually, not a fan of Brady really. But yeah, you have to put Farve up there, possibly Big Ben. Romo's 5th year will be next year. Not so much Warner because he's waaay too injury prone for me. Out of his 12 seasons, he's only had 3 years with all 16 games played. Which actually adds another thing to Manning's stats, he's never been injured. Or for that matter, never missed an complete game. He's always been 16 out of 16 games.

I think Manning is by far the best Quarterback to play the game, skill wise. Granted hes won just one SB but the guy is the best. The way he prepares, the way he studies week in and week out, how he reads defenses, the throws he makes, his size it all attributes to it.

Brady is a good quarterback, but i still think the system he plays in and along with the guys they plug in, helps him. Manning IS the system. Brees is also a great QB, possibly one of the best Deep-Ball passers of all time, but his size hinders him a bit. Even in the win against Minnesota, he didnt look terribly good after taking some hits, and if you get to him, hit him around or pressure him, he loses it a bit.

Drew's hight may be looked at as in hindrance, but at the same time, to be on par with QB's that are taller then him, more along the lines of your usual QB's too, speaks much for his talent. He cant see over the line like peyton and brady can, but he's right there with them at all times. And to be able to toss deep passes as well as he does makes it even more impressive, dont you think? I love players that are exceptional at positions that they arent exactly fitted to play. I've listened to annalists talk time and again about drew's hight, and all i can think is "and he's damn good at his job to!". hahahaha

I love seein' that kind of stuff too. Especially in the case of the Mavericks J.J. Barea.

Brees' height makes him even more impressive. It just shows you how great he is in the pocket and moving around. Brees didn't even see the field his first year. Then his sophmore season (might as well be rookie season), he wasn't all that bad. His 3rd year, he was pretty bad, but lets be real, the Chargers just weren't that great. So Brees has been good since 2004, and great since 2006. That is a 6 year stretch of playing probowl caliber and one 1st team all-pro, should have been two IMO, and superbowl ring and mvp. He pretty much has the exact same stats as Warner who is retired, and Brees has at least 4 years of peak play, and then 2 years of good play if he doesn't get injured. By the end of his career, he'll be easily considered one of the greatest, especially if he gets one more ring.

I don't know man..it could have been a joke, but Brees wasn't in on it. Too me, it literally looked like a goof up lol.
