The Treasure Hunter skill & You:

I don't see the big deal, almost all camping NMs for items not ex/rare tend to be a waste of time, unless you LIKE camping. The End.

Drops everything to help people I know or don't know get drops, help everyone who needs it and asks me on ranks and on Khazam keys, gives away brass/silver hairpins to mages in lower level parties who might need them or make use of them, has given away old equipment to people who needed it, helps people stuck in the dangruf wadi because they don't have the map. *You wouldn't believe the number of people who've gotten lost in there in full AF. *

I'm sure I'm missing some of the things that this nice Thief does to help people. For no reason and about at any possable time. While I do believe in karma, it's a pretty much an empty belief in this game. It's a blue moon anyone will give you a break if they aren't a friend or an ls mate. Karma rarely if ever nets returns.

So please do NOT refer to Thieves as greedy or unhelpful. A lot of us go out of our way to help other people, and we don't like being labeled negatively by our job anymore then other jobs.

Funny how so many people who have been saying this crap about Thieves are the very people who got mad when I insulted mages in general. Buncha hypocrites...

I've been reading this and thinking about what Phraust is saying how if everybody had THII and camped it this would increase the amount of PCC's in the market and would bring the price down.

Then I went reading around about the drop rate and figured it was something like 10% which is low. The monster is a 24 hour spawn, that means you have aprx 30 chances for drops a month. If 10% is even pretty close to the true drop rate or hopefull not lower, that means Argus will drop the PCC aprox 3 times month, maybe more maybe less. I"d say more prob like 3-10.

I dunno about you but those numbers are pretty discouageing. Even IF everyone got all drops or a little more each month which is unlikely. I kinda doubt something with such a low drop rate would affect the market price very much by adding so little to the total amount of PCC's there are.

I don't know our population, but I figure its at 6,000 -8,000 with that much people looking at the very few PCC's there are out there and will be added to the pile, I don't think the price will be going down anytime soon by making sure people get the drops.

If price does happen to go down, it will probably be something totally unrelated to this, ex. inflation decreases, new item is added.

I just can't see everybody getting enough PCC's for the price to go down much.

DarkDante Argus can take up to 120 hours if not more to spawn from last TOD.

If Leech King spawns then the timer is reset. So in esscence you can have something like this.

Mon - Argus spawns
Tues - Argus spawns
Wed - Leech King spawns
Thurs - LK
Fri - LK
Sat -LK
Sun - Lk
Mon - Lk
Tues - back to Argus (hopefully)

anyone experienced at that camp knows it can be almost a week before seeing Argus. LK spawns alot more IMO than Argus ever will.

Soooo if that Mage does claim him on that next Tues and wastes him with no drop, and THFs have to wait another week or so to get one, they have every right to jack it up as they see fit.

Geezuz then its even worse then. And yes you have every right to jack it up. You of course need to keep in mind that if you jack it to high, peoples attitude toward it may change and that is bad for sellers. If everybody starts sayin a PCC is not worth it, well...... price will probably drop.

So while not having THII does waste peoples time (of course it does, your chances are simply smaller without it), it more so affects those camping Argus than it does the people that just come every so often, or even the people buying it.

My point though is that no matter what, THII or not the price aint going down anytime soon. There just wont be enough PCC's because the drop rate is just to small.

My heroes. Not to say other jobs don't pull that kindof crap too, but I will say THFs aren't saints who randomly go out of their way to help someone, at least I've yet to see one.

I offered to help you just the other night with my TH 2.. even said I would try to round up some more ppl to help. :?

I totally forgot, I was having a sugar-crash that night >< I'm so sorry ;-;

i agree with firestreak.

and damn, thieves have more of an ego about TH2 then i ever imagined.

This conversation got more than side-tracked, and more than taken the wrong way. Some incredibly stupid shit was said.

But I agree with you. My TH2 > Disney World!

Funny how I tried to get that thread back on track and argued that non-thieves campers are not responsible for the price inflations of expensive items (or that having them stop camping will not bring the price down if you prefer) and it totally got ignored, even by the original poster......

Now this is a thread about a few thieves looking to get ride of competition.

The best job to camp NMs with is thf/rng or thf/war in my opinion, in some cases rng/thf, now people plays these jobs and camp NMs because they are the most suitable at it. What I am getting at is don't blame it on the job that maximizes the capability of camping, blame on people that want money.

The only competition that I am seriously worried about, is pt competition from other thf. Every thf who camps no competition is the name of the game and the idea is to rise above.

And btw, lets say thieves magically stopped camping, and other people were to get the drop:

1. No TH or TH2 so a slightly less degree of items dropped. Less supply, same demand, prices increase.

2. Even if TH and TH2 did not exist and that is not the factor: other people get the claims and drops like any thief in that position may do. Is that really goiong to stop inflation? I doubt it.

Basically your Thfs driving prices up argument is a causation-correlation fallacy. Prices are increasing on NM drops, thieves camp NMs and often get the drops therefore it is the fault of the theif job players. In truth it is the fault of the players who most often get claims and drops which happen to be playing the most adept job for camping - thieves. People not Thief. If Thf didnt camp yet others did you would see the same thing, most likely even worse due to the greater market.

Thank god I got my internet connection back now. Wanted to see how this tread developped, so sorry if my answer is a bit late.

a) I never said Thief or thf/rng was not the best job for camping NM.

b) I never denied the fact that TH2 helps the drop.

c) I never said thief, as a job or people playing it, were responsible for driving the price up. I simply said that Phraust'S theory of non-thf sub or main (without TH2) are responsible for the price increase on high-priced item, is wrong. Phraust is not pointing the finger in the right direction in my mind. That'S what I said. Now one does not imply the other neither. I demonstrated why in the post previous to the one you quoted.

The price increase that is happening lately was never said to be based on THF, but on monopoly of items be players, not the job.

d) If you are gonna respond to a post, please quote the right one.

Ok, it seems to me that there is little disagreement, or nothing really worht discussing. Sorry if I misinterpreted your post or whatever. And I dont understand how I can quote the wrong response.....maybe there was a better one, if that is what you mean.
