Tiny Gripe 2.0

Most players don't macro swap for WS, just like most players dont macro swap for nuking/enfeebling/healing etc. The mass majority of players that play this game use one set of gear for everything.

But full Hecatomb gives so much str. =(

Maybe the gimp wars, but if you want to come close to the damage of a good war or mnk, you're going to be subbing war or sam, and becoming a MP sponge, on top of that souleater MP sponge action. When you start draining healer MP, that's less hastes that get cast, slowing everyone down.

A fully merited drk/drg/sam/thf/whatever melee will outdamage a new to 75 war/mnk/nin, but that's not a fair comparison. Compare yourself to the fully merited and well geared if you want to draw a comparison, and you'll come up short.

Yeah I agree with that, an average drk can out DD a war that just hit 75 easy. I was just saying that as an example, but to me i'd perfer a war with an maneater/jug+ ridill gives me more of a challenge. Besides the more the war hits the more dmg I can do.

Thats really the only thing that can make a drk good in most cannon pts. If you got crappy Melee's in the pt hitting like a snail/missing its gonna be slow, but the faster you guys are putting the dmg out and giveing the mob TP the better the drk cause you can abs more TP way faster, and in turn makes you faster.
A ws + the first round of attacks and you can tell right off the bat how fast the mob is gonna go down, that should be around 86+ tp after you abs and TP again or save and be rdy for the next mob and keep goin in that cycle and you got yourself a good pt.

Things that dont change from ws/tp gear generally. shura/hauby, b haidate never change unless it's a mnk with shura legs, rajas ring, brutal earring, o kotes, in some cases str+ rings, amemit mantle nq and hq, brown belt+ on mnk, pcc on ws unless one owns the ele gorgets. In the cases where it does change it's a swap from haste+ gear that would suck on ws to str gear. look at a thf in tp gear and you wonder if thier dex rings are crap, look at a drk in tp gear and you cant tell if they have anything decent for ws ect ect. Not only that but those crappily geared will generally go for epeenWS over solid dot making the tp gear generally worse than the WS gear.

Things like Haidate, PCC, and Brutal are owned by a minority of people...Most all jobs have WS gear that'd require swapping out head, waist, hands and feet at the very least.

It really depends on who you look at. I had been 75 on my Drk for a pretty good while and 75 on my War for not that long, but some of the gear carries over and some gear i got for my War on my Drk.

Are you still talking about people fresh from 75 or people who have done sky to death and are already working on sea/kings?

If your melee doesn't swap out majority of his gear during ws... they most likely suck

tp > ws
Head:
turban > o.hat, n. abj head, shura head

Neck
pcc/chiv chain > gorget

ear
suppa > minuet/triumph

body
usually doesn't change but can from haub to n body, shura/haub to osode

hands
dusk > well anything really, n hands/o kote

rings
acc > str

back
stays the same really

belt (not in case of monk)
swift > warwolf/warrior's stone/anything with str

legs
b.haidate > war af2 legs, shura legs

feet
haste > nfeet, in some cases rse, rutters

most of this gear is swapped and most of it is not extremely hard to get, usually just take some time, but most are just plain bought

talking about how easily one can tell if the overall gear on a cannon job aka war/nin/mnk is good simply by looking at the tp gear since most of it doesnt actually change.

Most other jobs swap out much more gear for ws so you can't tell that a non cannon job has good ws gear by looking at the tp gear.
for example. look at a mnk in turban, pcc,ect earrings, shura body, okote, rajas on one finger, random ring in the other, cape that should nevr change anyway, brown or black belt, shura or b haidate, dune boots.

you can fully expect the mnk to swap out the turban for an optical hat minimum, if the ring was a +acc one you can expect that to be swapped for str, maybe the boots to be swapped if theres something better.
For war and nin the swaps that are done are fo removing haste for ws and most haste+ gear is something that one would obviously change.

now look at a drk like yourself. How much gear do you have to swap out from tp gear? Alot more than 3 peices right? A sam I know swaps 6-7 peices for ws. Half the gear he's wearing gets swapped out. You can't tell what gear is going to be swapped out on a non cannon job for ws from looking at tp gear like you can on war/nin/mnk.

Edit: incase everyone hasnt noticed I'm saying that the places where gear will be swapped are so obvious you hatve to be stupid NOT to tell that it's getting changed out for something better on ws. Do any of you guys realistically expect somone with dusk gloves, turban, swift to not swap it out for something better?

We're talking about the majority of idiots with cannon jobs.

And i think you're stretching it adding heca hands/head, and Northlands AF2, and probably don't even have dusk gloves.

Most players with cannon jobs leveled have it to merit in, shit, most WARs don't even have woody/meater, I've seen some fugly weapon combos that make me want to go die in a hole somewhere.

oh yeah, my bad... I thought people actually enjoyed improving

I swap gear, where's my praise? ; ;

I swap 7 pieces for WS, so what?

Considering how many times I've seen it, yes. Walahra Turban barely takes any effort to get, swift belt is just luck; dusk gloves might be borrowed or maybe they just have a bunch of gil and bought them. Unless I actually see them blink during a weapon skill, I'm not going to assume that they're changing their gear based on what they TP in. Most of the people who play are idiots who don't understand what gear swaps are or what good gear is; monks in akido koshita/af legs full time, for example.

I swap gear on every macro for my monk besides anything relating to my subjobs(utsusemi, voke/berserk, jump/high jump); I've got whole macros that all they do is change gear around for different purposes(ws, tp, evasion, guard, chakra, chi blast, etc.) but I don't expect every monk to do that; in fact, only the very best seem to do that. Most of the monks just wear one set of gear and assume that because it's the best for a single purpose that it's the best for all of them; but that goes for just about every job too.

Meh I keep on forgetting how stupid people can get. I probably shoud lower my expectations of how stupid people can get. However those gearswaps I listed were not based around how easy they were to obtain but how idiotic you would have to be to not use something better and for the most part easier to obtain for all of 2 seconds. turban dusk gloves and swift belt obviously arent going to boost damage on anything WS related hence I said do you expect somone to be stupid enough not to change them out. warwolf belt is ridiculously cheap for anyone to afford for a gearswap, op hat generally is semi easy to get since it's 100% drop rate if you dont get any of the other alternatives,dusk... well even war af will be better on ws for rampage than dusk gloves.

What's wrong with Fransisca/Ifrit's Blade?

What's wrong with it, you ask? Well, it doesn't beat my Furnace Tabarzin/Viking Axe combo. Viking for the +10 Acc, you see and casting fire is crazy good for DoT.

Don't forget Rune Choppers with refresh on, as long as you have a 1337 RDM.

Tungi ftw cause we all know it enhances double attack.
