great weapons are heavy and bulky and hard to swing. Take a fireman's axe vs a hatchet. Axe will chop tree down faster but is not to accurate in hitting it mark, while the hatchet will not cut as fast you can pretty much hit your mark every time.
Have you ever actually used a heavy item with brass at the end of it for any sort of yard activity, hard work, or to chop down a tree? Let's take a sledge hammer for example. I, for one, get into a very savvy rhythm very quickly and can rear back as much as possible and deliver a very hard, accurate blow to a stake (using when I built my dog his dog run as an example). Eventually it got to the point to where I could hit the damn thing so hard, I'd drive the stake 12 inches into the ground in 3 hits. I was pretty damn proud of that.
