I want to know the reason why you fell in love with Pokemon so much all those years ago, but a specific reason. You can choose more if you wish, but tell me what drew you in to adore the series.

For me, it was Squirtle, bulbasaur and Charmander. I loved that the 3 played off each other, their colours, and having to pick one to start off with.

If I was to pick something else, it would be the strategy guide. I read that thing with glee while looking over where the pokemon were in Viridian Forest.

Capturing my first pokemon in the wild and adding it to my team was what hooked me.The possibilities seemed endless at the time. Several games later, I'm still usually keeping the same roster.

My original was Charzard, Venasaur, Blastoise, Pigeot, Richau, Alakazham. I'm having a hard time remembering to spell them as well.

I liked the old red/blue because there were only 151, not the 53234892 they have out now.

I didn't own a gameboy so I had to play around on my brother's. I never got to save but I always enjoyed the game and the anime. He always let me watch when he played and it was playing the card game with him (He always won since he owned all the cards too). Clefairy was always my favorite. I still use one in my team.

The customisation. And as Reya said, the 151. With what, nearly 400 now? It's a bit annoying...

same, 151, was simply and fun to play and all of them were well designed, looked cool and were likable. I haven't played the new ones, stopped when they released yellow, but I did look at some of the pokemon in them and god damn...most of them are totally ugly and aren't cool.

Mewtwo.

My brother played the game way before I did, and I only got into it in early 2001. He owned Red version, and loved Charizard, just like every other 12 year old in existence. When I saw Mewtwo's design, and then saw him in the show in that armor, I was hooked.

I also played the card game with my best friend and got to use Mewtwo against him to devastating effect :D

Yeah it's lie 450+ now. I lost interest after 256ish (Gold and Silver.) What you failed to name was Yellow though, since that was still the 151 pokemon. Yellow was my first Pokemon game and Pikachu was what attracted me. The fact that he followed you around and had emotions when you clicked on him attracted me to the game.

Then adding more pokemon to my roster had to be the second thing that dragged me along. I don't always use the same lineup on pokemon games, but I always use the same types. Usually Electric, Grass, Water, Fire, Flying, Physic/Ghost. They can have 2 types, but they need to have a major move of one of those types.

Lastly, I loved the whole fact that you had a rival you were "competing" with.

I'll take the time to remind everyone that the QCDN Pokéfan Club is still around, not really altogether active, but we're there! :D

Also:

Steel, Psychic, Flying, Grass, Darkness, and Ice types = teh best :)

I never really played around with those types.

Is the whole type based advantage/disadvantage what everyone loved as well?

The Water>fire>grass>water weakness chain was always exciting.

I loved all things that had to do with raising animally things when I was younger, and to me, pokemon was cream of the crop (is that an expression?)

My roster always changed game to game. It just depended on which ones looked cooler. I never even used a "team". I only leveled one pokemon, the others stayed the same level as what I caught them yet. My main was always a fire-type(<3 Charizard), until, more recently, Lucario (or Mewtwo) became my main. It really sucked when I fought against what my main could do like...no damage to, and everything else was way underleveled...
How did I combat that? I didn't level everything else, I just kept leveling my main until it was just tough enough to be able to do enough damage. I reeeaally wasn't good at "teams".

Someone's a team player! lol

I always leveled my main Pokemon to a certain level, then got the rest to that. So like before the first Gym I always get them to 12 and so on and so forth.

Vulpix <3

I had Red and my Brother got blue, that's how it went for us. I got Gold and he got Silver then I got crystal haha. Same with ruby and sapphire. He didn't get Diamond or pearl though, but he also doesn't have a DS only I do.

We used to have days on end playing pokemon with each other and when we were on holiday that was all we pretty much did lmao.

Back when we could hold a conversation with each other, now we can't even sit in the same room without me throwing shit at him. :/

Good days though.

The weaknesses were amazing. It's what makes Dialga my 2nd favorite legendary - he's the only legendary dragon not weak to another version of himself.

I never liked the weakness thing. It enabled most mons to 1 or 2 shot anything. Was kinda boring in the 1st generation where anyone had a Mew2. Granted, it's somewhat more balanced now, but still a lot of the very low tier mons are absolutely useless.

Missingno.

Nuff said

Beat me to it lol. I still remember first learning how to get him to appear. He also ruined my blue version..
