Not necessarily, I can craft a majority of my tools and then farm the ingredients or trade what I farm for the ingredients I need (well, not lately but when I was leveling). At 75 a ninja with a sky shell can pretty much replace all that expensive gear with sky gear and quested gear and have a nice nest egg in the bank. I hq shihei and toolbag it(greatest change SE ever made). I farmed a lot when leveling ninja but I usually farmed for my ninja tools - I pretty much leveled Ninja to 75 for free except for armor that I sold back for a profit.

Ni wheel is the most effective hate holding tool from about level 40-65 especially with int and ninja af gear swaps for the spells. at level 50 a ninja should be outdamaging everyone and tanking quite fine. The damage of those spells then starts to taper off but it is still somewhat effective at 75.
Blind, slow, paralyze with gear swaps these usually stick and add a ton of hate. There should be no problems with Ninja holding hate from 40+ except a small window 70-74 where Monks are freaks and its tough to hold hate from them.
Actually, I liked nin tanks on my monk because it was easier for me to cap my evasion from 60-75 with them.

Lame response there dude, you still gotta carry all the ingredients then. Yags, if this be the solution, need to be stackable & toolbagable.

If Yagudo Drinks or an alternate item of equal or greater ability are made stackable & toolbagable for PLD use, this would end any debate & I for one would be willing to take all the extra time away from EXPing necessary to make sure I had the gil to afford it so that I could be the very best PLD... ahem... TANK!... possible.

IF THF could do this and that, then I COULD be amazing too.
Yag drinks being stacked needs to stop. That is not the end all be all.
Consider the job itself and the abilities gained. Consider the spells and the ninjitsu awarded as you level. Stop there.

Think of all of that which encompasses the job as both an open and a closed door. Those abilities and spells enable you to accomplish certain things. But by accepting that job and its abilities, traits and spells, you close the door to other options. That goes for whatever job you pick. As NIN, I don't have cover, but do I bitch about it? No. I work with what I got.

We cannot sit around discussing this based on "what if"...

Yag cherry x1 / Bubu grape x3. Both stackable to 12. How many tools does a NIN have to carry around? Like what 6-8 stacks. 2 stacks of cherrys and 6 stacks of grapes will keep you leveling for a good while.

There are 12 different NIN tools. Assuming all are in toolbags, you have 12 spaces there. If you want to actually use them, you need to use a toolbag to be able to use the actual tool...That creates 1 stack of tools as well. 24 spots total.

I don't find myself bitching about it, even with equip swaps.

This whole argument is silly. Everyone knows RDMs are the best tanks anyways.

stoneskin
blink
phalanx
ice spikes
all the protects and shells
fast cast for self curing
refresh
clear mind
haste

I mean goddam, thats a whole lotta shit every tank would love. Crying shame eh?

Absolutely, and moderate levels of woodworking and alchemy will get you 8/12 recipes.

In fact:

Code:
[B]Ninjutsu Effect Tool Level Craft HQ3[/B]
[B]================================================================[/B]
Dokumori Poison Kodoku 19 Alchemy 70
Hyoton ice Tsurara 6 Alchemy 57
Jubaku Paralyze Jusatsu 37 Alchemy 88
Kurayami Blind Sairui-Ran 28 Alchemy 79
Hojo Slow Kaginawa 29 Clothcraft 80
Raiton lightning Hiraishin 31 Goldsmithing 82
Doton earth Makibishi 23 Smithing 74
Huton wind Kawahori-Ogi 37 Woodworking 88
Katon fire Uchitake 26 Woodworking 77
Suiton water Mizu-Deppo 34 Woodworking 85

7 inventory spaces can make 12 yag drinks.
28 inventory spaces can make 48 yag drinks.
48 yag drinks X 3 minutes = 144 minutes of yag drink effectiveness

Thats over 2 hours of your own self refresh. And I know PLD don't need 32 spaces for all their gear.

The toolbags are nice, but they just make it so you dont have to jump back to the AH after each PT to restock. If anything, you should be upset that SE hasn't put a grocery store in Jeuno like I am. I mean wtf? Why are the Elvaans the only ones with a grocery store? I thought Jeuno was supposed to be a trade mecca...

Yes but you also saying the PLD would have lvl cooking, which means lots of gil spent before getting to the point to spend money for ingredients when able to make such things. Nin don't necessarily have to learn a tradeskill to be able to buy shihei which are already stackable & toolbagable, talking about fair here.

Again though this is some that CAN be done...It doesn't HAVE to be done.

And...we're talking about just cooking, as opposed to what the NIN has to deal with to craft all his tools. I just don't see what there is to complain about.

Altho my 2nd highest job from DRK is PLD, I would pref a NIN tank, simply because i've noticed faster exp/hr^^;

If people actually cared about the woes of the 70+ PLD it would be a closer vote. No one is saying PLD is a shitty tank - after all, you'll be front and center in most endgame activities. But when it comes to raking in the merit points, MP sponges are more burden than benefit...for most people anyway. I don't care either way because I can adjust to either tank.

Ya...a lot of PLD around this lvl including myself are getting about as many pt as a DRG does /wave DRG.

And no amount of stackable Refresh drinks will ever change that.

dreamcast.jpg

That one day paladins will be know as the number one tank job.

I will never have sympathy for a job whose most expensive piece of equip to 75 is a sword going for 800k.

God you guys are so ignorant its sad...

First you cry how PLD is better than ninja, now your crying that ninja owns pld and that plds need new JA's like voke.

Give me a fucking break, both are good, PLD can tank 99% of all mobs in this game and is the consistency needed in many fights. So fucking what if nin is usually more efficient in exp, CRY ME A FUCKING RIVER. Pld can be a great tank, nin can be a great tank, pld/nin can be a great tank, war/mnk, war/nin, war/whm, nin/drk, nin/whm....this list is huge. Just because somthing isnt always #1 in exp doesnt meen you need to turn all emo .
