You're gone, good, go away

There is no definition of "life". Life is what you like doing, not what others expect you to do.

Just quoting this, because it is probably the single most important post ever made on the QCDN flameboard.

It was aimed at the people who are rating me down and leaving hateful comments for no apparent reason.

Gil buying is the reason I rated you down, guess that makes a moron...damn. You message didn't really offend me, but It'll be funny to see you come back and do it all over again.

What forum are you on? QCDN takes everything offensively.

Lol im not knocking on it dude, i love it.

Im responding to carste as to why my hair is the way it was.

Pretty fresh IMO but I'm into the rave scene.

Out of context, Khaj. I'll miss the idea of chatting with people like you and others that I said weren't assholes. It was aimed at the people who are rating me down and leaving hateful comments for no apparent reason. Not aimed at people that I somehow apparently think I'm better than. Sorry for the confusion.

The good times thread was somewhere to share my story and get a last word and hopefully some form of outside contact from the people I wanted to thank. If you took it offensively, as if it was a lecture aimed at any one person in particular, come down from your damn high cloud already, sheesh.

Thank you to all the people that actually have common sense and understood what I was saying. I made mistakes and I'm on a long, bumpy road to fixing them. I disliked the real world and FFXI was an easy substitute at the time. I'm not happy about it.

Lastly, the gilbuying thing was a light-hearted relief to an unpleasant post. Nothing more.

Glad you came to the flameboard so I can chip in my 2 gil.

Gaming does not build character; it reveals character.

Cheating and quitting is no way to go through this "life" you speak of.

I didnt find it insulting before but now that he's called everyone that plays "a cesspool of morons" because we dont like gilbuying i'm leaning that way.
agree

As for drew you have to realize what you have said, one that your a gil buyer, You are symbol that every legit player hate. You are even above those who do cheats like flee hacks and tele hacks. You supply the demand for RMT to be in this game. Those RMT that nearly destroyed this game many times. Those RMT that started to play dirty by stealing peoples accounts to supply you with money. To not suppect that this would rub people the wrong way is surely mistaken.

Then to make things worse you put people personal achiverments into the dirt. Not all achivements have a throphies or cash rewards. This game is about teamwork and friendship. About striving to complete goals and accomplishing task. I would never sell my toon, I have done so much on it and to see someone else play it be like saving for a lambergini and then giving it away. You see it diffrently which is expected because you cheated yourself by buying gil. Doing so leaves a void in accomplishing something.

You know keep posting like this might have to change my option about you;) nicely said

I have nothing witty to say....

I quit a loooooooong time ago.
I had a monthly allowance from gilsellers.
I also was an undercover Narc for the GM's.
ooh ooh, and I used hack tools constantly...
and and and... I logged into the Playonline servers to adjust my characters base attributes.

And, I picked my nose and ate my boogers.

heheh

does that make me a bad person... ?

My life is post-FF now.. and I feel like an empty shell.... can I buy gil irl ?!
maybe I could pay someone for a irl PL... hmmmmm

ok.. I'm done ... I feel like I really contributed to this thread.

my real opinion...

anyone that buys gil ingame.. should really address how they perceive the game.

Cheating in any venue is a depiction of a character weakness or flaw.

However, SE should really look at the reason why people are so tempted to buy gil... I remember I think Sony had a few MMORPG's.. friend was trying hard to get me to join a "planetside" or something like that.. Sony I belive was going to launch something called like "Station" or something where you could legitimately buy ingame currency through the game manufacturers... I think I remember SE entertaining the notion of making ingame items/currency available for purchase through irl money?

I might be talking out my ass.. but there's my 2 gil. or.. what's the current exchange rate.. LoL $0.002 = 2 gil?
I made a lame funny.
score 1 for me !

You know, not that I disagree with the entire 'buyers of Gil are what causes the vicious cycle of RMTs' - but I have to say I dislike the cheaters and botters way more than I dislike both the sellers and buyers of Gil. If someone sold or bought Gil AND cheated, then that automatically place them on a lower level but by virtue of cheating equating to about -100 and selling/buying Gil at about -3.

No, I don't do either. But I think my mentality might be because I grew up with MMOs ever since the very first one about 13 or 14 years ago. Call me a MMO old fogey or whatever, but the selling and buying of accounts and game currency was frowned upon neither by the gaming community nor by the developers themselves in the first MMO (Meridian 59). During this time I've witnessed the trend change from RMT developing as a business (I was there when IGE was created - approached by them to be a supplier as I ran one of the wealthiest guilds in two MMOs concurrently), and the mentality of the players develop a hatred for RMT. Ok, I caught up with the times. I don't have much love for RMT in the grand scheme of things.

But it's still not even close in my book compared to cheaters. I reiterate that while I don't like it - I do not have a problem with RMTing as a whole if everything is done within normal game play mechanisms. Not no problem per se, but more like acceptance that this is part of modern MMO and won't go away.

Never sold any of my characters or assets in any game never will. I have been given stuff from friends (like a hand me down mule here on FFXI from a guildmate from Everquest) to which I do not see a reason to decline. When I stop playing my stuff is given to friends and my character retired or given to a trusted friend that will take care of my character. As much as it sounds like a jackass to say, pound for pound (or should I say, dollar for gil) I value my virtual possessions far more than real world tangibles. I think those of you that take your gaming hobby fairly serious can relate.

I think I constitute as a legit player. I do not hate Drew - and it's not because he's helped me in the past. I do not hate otherwise-legit players that have bought or sold Gil.

I hate cheaters.
