I'd like to ask, if I may, some questions about your own personal experiences with alcohol, as this got me thinking of what other people think of the sinful beverage. Ultimately what this thread will be is a compilation of answers that some people may be interested in.

I'll set a bunch of questions in a sort of quiz fasion, with some questions that require ratings out of 10 for whatever reason necessary. It'd be better if people answered truthfully on the subject, as I think this will give more varied responses...

Firstly, if you are T-total, Strait edge or otherwise against alcohol consumption please don't fill out the questionaire.

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?
Daily (for example with a meal, or just if you're an alcoholic)
3 or more times per week.
Weekends only
Once per week
Every 2 weeks
Monthly or more.

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body? (By this I mean the effects of dutch courage, slurred words, blurry vision, no longer feel the effects of cold and other examples of general tipsiness. Any of the latter. However the onset of which is only minor.)

Answers should be given in alcohol units (european countries mainly?) or in the form of a specific amount of a certain alcohol (6 bottles of beer, 4 vodka shots, 4 mixed spirits & juice etc.)

When was your first taste of alcohol?

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it? (please give a rating out of 10)

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?

If anyone else has some questions maybe they'd like to have answered by everyone, propose them in a post and I'll include them in the main post.

Thanks for taking the time to read,
Blabj

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?
3 or more times per week.

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body?
Probably... 4 shots (40% alc.) or the equivalent in beer/cider.

When was your first taste of alcohol?
Grade 5.

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?
Yes.

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it?
5

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?
Advantages - Energy boost, falling down doesn't hurt, better at fighting.
Disadvantages - Sickness, occasionally say "too much."

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?
14-16 years old.

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?
Yeah, lol.

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?
I'd go get more.

Fun quiz. :D

On average, how often to do you consume alcohol?
Usually about every 2 weeks, some times more often depending on how much money I have and whether there is anything interesting happening. Also during holidays, I tend to drink more often than at school.

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body?
Approximately 8 units, or 8 cans of beer. I will begin to notice a gain in confidence and chattiness, aswell as not getting cold as fast (or feeling the effects of)

When was your first taste of alcohol?
When I was 7 years old, I had a glass of wine with a meal.

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it?

I cannot drive. Never.

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?
More talkative, gain in confidence, slightly giddier and also I feel as if I have more fun than without. Negatives, become more offensive in terms of arguments and being less guarded with insults and opinions, more likely to do things I may otherwise regret.

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?
I feel that, when at home, alcohol should be a parent's disgression, however I would think that ages 4 upwards should be the minimum age. In bars and clubs I feel an acceptable age would be 17, rather than the 18 age in the UK.

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?
Some nights are made better through the consumption of alcohol, however it isn't necessary to have a good time, it just makes it more likely for everyone to be more open and engage easier. However, some nights can be ruined by alcohol, due to violence or excessive consumption. It depends on the users, mostly.

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?
If the party is dull, or might possibly be made better with more alcohol then yes, otherwise I'm more likely to stick with what I've got, than go over the top.

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?

Usually, once or twice a month. Since we discovered our hole-in-the-wall karaoke bar, once a week.

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body?

Depends what I drink, what I've eaten, etc. Not much, I guess.

When was your first taste of alcohol?

Age 19.

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?

No.

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it? (please give a rating out of 10)

0 - I'd just sleep in my car, I've done it before.

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?

Pro - Makes me laugh more, generally have a good time. Con - Makes me pee a lot.

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?

20.

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?

Depends. Being DD when everyone else is wasted is kind of a downer, but you don't always need booze to have a good time.

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?

Depends on how far new booze is. If its in walking distance, set up a booze crew and let them trek over.

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?
Three times a week

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body?

When was your first taste of alcohol?
Age 5.

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?
Yes.

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it?
7/10

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?
A lot more talkative and confident - People dont really notice it much anymore as my confidence has increased but I feel it.

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?
15+ years old.

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?
Depends what your doing.

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?
I'd go get more.

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?
This one really depends on the time of my life because as of recently i am only drinking maybe once a week or so because i now live alone and it feels weird to drink when no one else is around as well as i had a scare in the past. In the past when i was living with 3 other guys i was drinking pretty much every day and fairly heavily.

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body? (By this I mean the effects of dutch courage, slurred words, blurry vision, no longer feel the effects of cold and other examples of general tipsiness. Any of the latter. However the onset of which is only minor.)
I start to feel it after maybe 3-4 mixed drinks which would normally be like 6-8 shots. Before i feel drunk it takes probably about a half bottle of w/e.

When was your first taste of alcohol?
age 12... got drunk off tequila with my dad. lol

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?
I cannot with a straight face say i haven't ...

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it? (please give a rating out of 10)
This one depends because i am the person who typically tells people that i am either not driving or not drinking/drinking lightly. Now with this being said i have talked myself into being fine on nights that i said that i was not driving so i guess that would have to be like a 7.

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?
There are no advantages to drinking other then a sense of well being and overwhelming charisma towards other people... I wake up in a lot of strange places and also it negatively affected my school proformance. http://www.qcdn.org/ffxi/showthread.php?p=760259#post760259

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?
Honestly the drinking age should be 18 if not younger... the phrase i like is "old enough to die, then your old enough to buy." so unless they raise the armed services age to 21 they need to lower the drinking age.

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?
It may be less entertaining but it would be safer.

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?
tempted... we used to have a designated driver to get more alcohol should supplies get too low. Because when u start a party no one is willing to chip in but once u get 10 or so drinks down the wallets open up and next thing u know u got $100 dollars or more together easily to go buy more beer when before the drinking starts you could have had... 20 maybe.

I could consume alcohol at any random moment, but will take lots of it.

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?
None, what I do while drunk I could easily do sober too. Plus, people who say otherwise are making excuses.

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?
21

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?
Of course, then girls wouldn't have something to blame for their behaviour that night.

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?
I've gone out while in parties and bought more drinks several times to maintain the flow.

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?
Daily, if/when i can afford to, usually just kick back a six pack, or a beer for breakfast. Big fan of wine with meals.

Daily (for example with a meal, or just if you're an alcoholic). 1-6 Beers a day on average, unless it's a drinking night. (Usually twice a week.)

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body?

Around ten beers. I usually stop drinking at around 13-15 beers, that gets me to the point where if I drink more, I may become sick.

When was your first taste of alcohol?

When I was really young. My father used to let us take sips from his beers. First full beer was at age 17.

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?

Sadly, yes.

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it? (please give a rating out of 10)

10.

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?

It relaxes me. I like the taste, I enjoy the effects and mundane things can become enjoyable. Negatively, alcohol = beer gut.

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?

18.

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?

Yes.

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?

I'd go out, but that never happens cause I'm always prepared.

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?

Maybe once every 2 weeks

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body?

2 beers or 1 mixed drink, my tolerance has been lowered after about 3 years of not touching the stuff

When was your first taste of alcohol?

First taste was a sip of my dad's beer at age 5, first time drinking any real amount was a glass of wine with holiday meals starting at about age 13

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?

I wish I could say no, but I had to do it once; otherwise I'd have been stranded in a really bad neighborhood late at night, with no cabs or public transportation available.

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it? (please give a rating out of 10)

1, I'd say 0 if it weren't for the event detailed above

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?

Advantages: more open, easygoing and talkative
Disadvantages: I have to stop drinking early on or else I'll drink way too much, and make myself sick enough to go to the hospital

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?

I'd say 17-18 for most circumstances; small amounts on special occasions with parental supervision are fine as young as 13

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?

Not really, I've had good times with friends both sober and drunk; if anything my drinking nights ended worse because someone would always be puking at the end (usually me >_>)

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?

We'd probably go out to be honest, better to have leftovers than not enough.

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?
Once per week

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body? Usually around 7-8 beers. I'm 6'4" 235 so that works in my favor. Or against me, however you want to look at it. My wife can be tipsy after one glass of wine. :partytime:

When was your first taste of alcohol? In high school. Probably around 13-14.

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system? Too many times to be where I'm at today. I do not do this anymore though, I've had friends be messed up in alcohol related crashes. :(

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it? Usually only drink at home now. I won't get to that limit if I'm out and have to drive.

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you? It can be fun to get a little tipsy from time to time. Having to pee a lot sucks though.

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol? There is a time and place for everything, it's called college. (18)

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol? Nope.

3 or more times per week. (I like a glass of wine with some meals, but don't get tipsey or drunk unless its the weekend)

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body?
Wine - 1.5 glasses
Beer on Tap - 2 glasses

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it? (please give a rating out of 10)

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the intoxicated you?
I feel giggly, sexy, more open, chatty - it is definitely "truth juice" for me
Negative - I can get mean. Tequila makes me a mean drunk....so I no longer drink it

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?
21 is fine, 18 seems still too immature to me

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?
If you are the desiganted driver and everyone else is drinking around you - then yes.
Otherwise - no. You don't need alcohol to have fun - it just adds to it. :)

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?
stay

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?
Nightly, I have a Scotch every night before bed. Sometimes a beer when I get home from work.

How many units would you say it takes for you to start feeling the effects of alcohol in your body?
About 4 drinks in a short period I start feeling cloudy, if it's beer I have a 90% chance at feelign sick before I feel drunk. Still trying to figure out if I have an alergy to beer.
After about 6 in a short time I start feeling pretty plowed.

When was your first taste of alcohol?
12-ish, was sick. Dad gave me the old fassioned "Cure for the sore throat".

Have you ever driven whilst over the legal limit of alcohol within your system?
Technically, yes, because i was under age, and had 1 beer in me.
Practically, no, I don't think I have ever driven whilst drunk.

How likely would it be for you to try drive home after consuming just over the legal amount, if you thought you were up to doing it?
Never. I usually am the guy that either throws the party or regulates the party. I.E. Breaks up fights, gets more beer, babysits the sluts, and boot the date rapists. (Usually) otherwise I find it hard to sleep while drunk, and usually end up staying awake til I am sober anyways, at which time I just drive home, watchign the sun rise...

What advantages do you feel you receive after drinking alcohol? Do you think there are any negative sides to the inbibing alcohol?(changed wording a tiny bit)

Advantages - Wine paired with food can really enhance elements in the entree. It's a good social "Ice breaker". And there's always the default 'thing to do', just go grab a beer.

Disadvantages - Expensive. Scotch is about $70.00/bottle. And going out can be $30.00/hour easy...

At what age do you consider it acceptable to be able to consume alcohol?
Well Alcohol was never "Forbidden" in my house. Aside from my nightly drink, no one in my family really drank. I have seen the flip-side though... And I really can't say anything either way. I find the drinking age of 21 to suffice. It weeds out the dipshits who are in positions to get caught, and leaves the rest of the people that can drink publicly at an age where they can attone for their actions and accept resposibility, legaly if need be. Dinking in the states is liek watchign 40+ year old guys hitting on 19 year olds with fake I.D.'s; when I went to Canada, it was 40+ guys hittign on 16 year olds with fake I.D.'s... It was nausiating...

Without alcohol, would a night out be worse than if you had consumed alcohol?
I am old lol... A night out is dinner and a movie. I pair my drinks up, but it's not "Needed". I am gettign to the point to where I really like being able to see things as they are, and don't really need alcohol to "enhance" that. However.... Once and a while it is fun to go to a bar and toss back some piss and get my swerve on.

If you're at a party, and there isn't enough alcohol, would you be tempted to go out and get more, or stay and make do with what you have?
Answered this earlier, yes.

On average, how often do you consume alcohol?
Every 2 weeks. A dozen years ago, this survey would be answered much differently.

Worse for humanity because people like to drink alcohol? Damn, I wonder what real tragedies like the war, pedophiles, rapists, murderers, britney spears, terrorists, etc. do to you.

Pretty dramatic and condescending statement coming from someone who is clearly perfect.
