Blmaf2 Vs ????

I was talking about thunderIV =P thats what your original post said.

Derp. I didn't mean Thunder IV.

Protip: Always proof-read your posts.

Derp.

Yeah, that makes more sense as well. I have seen a screenshot of a lil over 2k, but unaware of the setup.

But those are more along the lines of what I had assumed for your numbers as well. Is that with maxed MAB or no?

Thing that really angers me is BLM's who roll out a Burst II with 0 merits in Ele skill, 0 merits in potency, 0 INT merits. Just pointless.

Personally I went:

Ele Skill 8/8 (Can't hit the ball if you don't know how to swing the bat)

Thunder 5/5

Ice 5/5

INT (Savage ._. )

Burst II 3/3

Freeze II 3/3

Of course I was merit maxed when they released AM2, and did Enfeeb as RDM when they expanded the allowances, but it seems like a logical progression even now, except where you'd choose to insert enfeeb merits.

Back on topic: What's everyones take on Grips? I got a pretty generic one, like Buggard+1 or some shit, so people didn't give me crap for not having one. What's the best one for raw, non-situational, pure pudding damage? I'm saddened that a grip puts me at a nice fluffy 60/60. If a mob came and hit me, I doubt it could punch through the massive ammounts of shit I carry. Maybe I'll put my backpack on and butt-tank solo AV.

Well the logical choice is the only one with INT right?

What all is out there? I snagged the only one I saw on AH with INT, but we all know the sun dosen't rise and set there. Are there other rare/ex ones out there?

From the grip list that I saw, the only one that seemed good to me was the Bugard+1.

yeah, pretty much your choice imo are:

Staff Strap = MP +20 Enmity -2
Bugard Strap +1 = MP +10 INT +1 MND +1 CHR +1

Probably pick both up, and use the -ENM on party and the INT on solo for me.

Not going to digress on dark/enfeebling/nuking gear as I hope that's obvious as how to use it. I tend to swap in sorc petasos -> merciful cape -> elemental torque -> wizard's gloves+1 in that order. If I need to use all then I do, if only some if fine I follow that chain of replacing to keep my damage high aswell.

As far as yellow hp for sorc ring goes, my setup is inefficient as I use multiple items solely for lowering my hp, and I think I overkill it but I'm too lazy to figure out the maximun hp I can have on (with penitent's and zenith mitts on).

For my mnd set, the target is to have 114mnd, using /rdm sub, the gear I have adds up to exactly 55mnd, plus the 59mnd a 75 blm/rdm taru has. Not a single mnd was wasted, however it's not 100% efficient, as there are 3 items which are there solely for mnd in the setup.

As far as for my gear while being damaged, or just being idle, I throw on only 1 extra item (cheviot cape), and the rest is made of other parts of my set. The gear used is a terra staff, igqia head/legs, beak necklace+1, novia, af2 body, Zenith mitts, snow/tamas, cheviot cape, anrin obi, and yigit cackrows.

The set pieces were chosen for their defense stat, minus damage reduction, or evasion. Zenith mitts were used since the 50hp is lost anyways from any previous macro, so might as well keep them in as highest defense gloves I own.

I have more blm gear that I didn't list, though I rarely use it, and due to space issues I often leave certain sets in MH. I tend to place a low priority on my dark setup, and my yellowhp/sorc ring stays at home often due to lowering hp can be bad in plenty of situations. I often leave my elemental gear too as I usually know ahead of time what I'll need.

Blm is a job that's really limited by how much you can carry on you, and every piece of gear is situational.

If you're just starting off on obtaining blm gear, I'd start off with nice damage gear that's cheap/easy to obtain. weskit, manillas, AHable int gear, etc...

After that I'd go on to focus on elemental magic a little, buying some cheaper items for it, like druid slops, elite beret, and an e.torque.

Enfeebling gear is fortunately cheap, can get a tiara and use af coat, and you'd do just fine for most things.

Dark magic isn't a huge deal, though most of the gear is obtained from af/2 which you will win on the process to obtaining other gear.

As for mnd set, can get lots of mnd gear for cheap, however it's not as vital for most occasions, though it really helps out.

Overall I'd say you can gear up a blm pretty easily and fast, finishing it up is another story, but the first 90% is easy, and with that you'd do great, and be useful in just about any situation. The last 10% is more often than not just for e-peen. If you work on all aspects of blm abilites, you won't need expensive/rare gear in order to do better than a blm that's has a pimped out "check me" setup, but very little supporting equipment. It's not all about pumping out numbers on blm, infact the only place I ever specifically try to do damage is exp/solo, elsewhere I let my dmg slide lower in order to better perform for the group as a whole.

Wrote this all at 3am lol, meant mostly for the OP and anyone seeking blm gear advice, and to point out just how much supporting gear matters. Alot of people don't realize the importance of having gear other than nuking gear. Also not sure if I said it or not, it's not the gear itself that matters, rather the stats. If you see something on my list that is a lil expensive/hard to obtain, you can look at the stats I aimed for overall on my slots, and find a suitable replacement that's cheaper or easier to find.

Nice post Dave, rep added.

Always nice to see where my 60 slots are going on paper as well ^^. Perhaps a 1-10 importance rating would help some of the BLMs looking for advice on what to go after would help them "at a glance".

This statement alone is what seperates a good blm from a cookie cutter one. Managing hate > zomg damage!

I don't think thats with INT merits (maybe 1), but of course the Obi bonuses/AF2/Ugga.

Eww your thunder III is pretty weak lol, even my puppet beats that :

Lol never seen a EU screenshot. 3 years of french and I don't know a word ~.~

Did you put burn on it? That screenshot is hardly recent however. (I'd say 4-5 months ago).

I should note since everyone else neglects it (most of you are tarus), I have an MP setup which is a few pieces combined from mostly my WHM gear. I need it for soloing although it's not entirely mandatory to use. If I expend my MP pool on a single mob, I can kill it without sleeping and resting, but if there are multiple resists, I would need to and possibly lose chain.

About all I can say to this is:

1. You picked the wrong race.
2. Multiple Resist's? What are those?

Peace,

Because only Tarus can make good BLMes, right?

Most decidedly not. Though, if the only job you wanted to play (at least initially) was BLM, I don't understand why you would choose another race.

(I don't believe that is the case with Lavi though.)

This is because women tarutaru is TOO FLAT. Not that attractive to women... not everyone choose race due to stats.
