PS3 DC Universe Online

Ayira... DC version!

fun is what is most important :) when is it going free?

I believe January 25th. According to the log in screen for CO. I haven't played in quite a while, but it is fun. A game you can enjoy playing solo for a while (up to level 30) before quests actually start requiring you to group up for a big campaign (where you actually fight an arch villian of the game's story).

I kinda hate to derail this thread completely. But, as I see a screenshot from your pc, which I remember you having a rather beefy pc. I'd like to share with you some screenshots I took this morning from CO so you can sort of compare. Though posting them in this thread would take up a lot of space and really detract from it's topic, so if anyone would like some examples of the costume creativity and freedom, as well as the visuals CO offers. (which judging by Reya's screenshot, CO is still far ahead of DCUO, imo. At very least they are fairly even, though it looks like DCUO is trying for a type of realism and CO is blatantly comic styled, while using two slightly different styles.)

I will just post one picture of my only female character in my personal favorite costume that I made for her: Mistress T'Liana, an archery hero with magical powers. I call this costume Angelic Assassin:

I would just like to add that it's kind of hard to take good pictures in CO due to the fact that the HUD is there when you hit printscreen, but apparently isn't there on the actual screenshot. I may have to retake some more pictures to get a closer up look. You can't quite tell, but CO distinguishes 3-5 different types of textures on costumes: Cloth, Leather, Metal (the basic 3), skin and matte. I believe I made all of her costumes leather since it has an awesome shine.

2nd Edit:
Another feature I do like is that with each costume, power sets that use weapons for damage can change the look of their weapons assuming they've unlocked additional weapons in the costume shop (which you do by playing the game and can get some from quest rewards and random loot). These are displayed in the many screenshots I took this morning (at least the bows).

Just wrapped up a few Gotham missions and hit lvl 22 today. I can defiantly see why everyone hangs out there and not Metropolis. I love the voice overs and comic style cut scenes after each mission and alert. The boss fight with Harley Quinn was really funny. The dialog is really campy and pretty hilarious.

I got to level 14 on my main character today! Anyone got a guild thingy up and running yet? The PvP instances are actually pretty fun, I love the 2 v 2 batcave one.

Which server are you on, Dancing?

Virtue and Vice. I'm level 15 now :D

Going to try and get 20 tonight. My ingame name is Luther. For a good guy are look kinda evil but o well!

I'm more than likely picking this game up today or tomorrow. Is it true that if you are a villain you can't talk to the heroes? Similar to how WoW was back in the day?

I'm not entirely sure on this. I've never tried speaking to a villian. Especially on the PvP server that I have a character on haha.

Lol that would be funny... I could see you doing this.

DW: Hi can we be friends?
Random Villain: *doesn't Respond, but draws out sword*
DW: is that a yes?
RV: Commences hacking away at DW's limbs.
DW: D: D: D: D: D:

Except my character on the PvP server looks like Wonder Woman's ghetto ass step sister. Bitches don't even mess, fo real.

I'm pretty sure both heroes and villians can speak to one another, you just have to turn the option on.

I am lvl 29 gonna hit 30 tonight.

Ayira - hero - nature/healer spec'd on Virtue & Vice :)

LOL, you would pick that character.... I need to pick this game up, PLUS it is free monthly right?

I honestly love final fantasy... BUT I can't even play 14 anymore, I really was hoping for a turnaround just like 11 did.

It has a monthly fee but I think it's cheaper than FFXIV? The first month is free.

Technically nothing is cheaper than XIV, since SE have yet to start charging for it.

from my understanding, FFXIV will be free til the PS3 actual launch. Which could be a very long time.

Ding 30 :D

End game raids/alerts/PvP/PvE instances are fun *_*

Wait, wait... This game's max level is 30? For real?

If so.. wow... that's kinda sad. Considering Reya's already reached it after like maybe a week or less of off/on play, I am definitely not impressed. Even Champions Online starts to hit a curve at around 30, with.. I think.. 50 being the max level.

The game isn't meant to be a grind at all. I was able to get to 30 in about a week yeah x_x.

Most of the gameplay is geared towards being level 30, there is a ton of content.
