DS Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies ~ NA Summer 2010

I'm weighing the benefits of grinding everyone's jobs to level 10 or so and dumping the extra skill points into their "main" jobs.
Also Armamentalist seems kindasorta useless in the storyline. I can see how it's buff/debuff-centric spells might be useful in the endgame, but right now he's just a weaker melee.
But damn, that pimp hat is calling me.

Fire Fource is like a weaker Oomph, good for bosses until you get the spell at 39.

How far in is job system? In hours that is. I hope it doesnt take as long to get to as it did in DQ7.

10ish depending how quick you are.

It's the next town after the events/dungeon in Coffinwell, but have to do a quick dungeon in the region before you can unlock vocations.

Argh! My birthday can't come quick enough. I can't wait to waste the rest of my holiday on this game. It looks like so much fun. Still wish it had wi-fi co-op though, but whatever. I'm sure it'll still be great.

Does this game have anything like the monster arena from DQ8? I loved that thing.

Nope, no monster recruiting/infamous monsters.

Releasing this Friday here in the UK. Here's hoping that this gets to the top ten in the first week. I'd be extra pleased if it can beat Ubisoft's crappy Dancing game shovelware, though it will be an uphill struggle as, according to a friend who works at Game, hundreds of morons bought shitloads of copies of Dance on Broadway. Thankfully though he is going to try and convince them otherwise.

Yup mine should be here by Friday... Hopefully my mother will be out when it gets delivered... If so I'm totally having it before my birthday haha!

Finally started playing the game mid-week and quickly got hooked. I've made it to the point where I can switch vocations and want to toy around with a few job changes. This game is going to keep me busy awhile, I have a feeling.

I bought this game today and got pretty far in it so far. All I have to really say is, good game is good!

Oh, it can.

The main game itself isn't too long unless you level various vocations high level for skill points, but the post game can last hundreds of hours, in which you can fight bosses from previous DQ's, get past DQ character outfits (this is a Wi-Fi quest and post game thing), and trek through various grottos.

Not to mention the Wi-Fi quests, which are planned to provide new content once a week for a full year after the games release.

Then there's leveling the vocations to 99 and maxing all but 2 skills, then reinvocating back to level 1 for a 4 star accessory, and re-leveling to 99 again to master all skills.
Plus the various achievement/trophy like accolades, filling out the alchemonicon, monster book, and item/wardrobe list.

I've got to go to Swinedimples now myself for the last fygg, but leveling up more vocations for skill points.

Been having a lot of fun playing this game so far (yay for early birthday presents) been playing along with Justin and we've gone for similar setups but I'm using a fan whereas I think he's using a sword. Just unlocked the vocation changing business and moving on from there now, I farmed up some items in advance that I need to make a fan I want to craft in the future also. Fun game is fun so far!

This weeks sales for games in the UK came out. DQIX debuted at #9. This doesn't look good =(

Meh the Nintendo charts have been full of crap in general in the UK for a while. Shame really, there are some really good titles people are missing out on.

DQIX has been at #1 on GameFAQs and Gamestop.com since it's release (or in the case of Gamestop.com before it's release), so I think it sold fairly well in NA.

Numbers aren't in yet but I'm leaning towards DQVIII figures, if not better.

I'm going to get this as soon as I can but busy with FFXIV beta and work.

Just unlocked the ability to change vocations at Alltrades Abbey. Now I gotta do these extra job quests. This might be time consuming ;P

Well, it's all maps you can get in-game regardless, just some before they distribute the Wi-Fi quests later on down the road.

Zoma's is from Gamestop, and Estark will be from the Best Buy event, both are Wi-Fi quest rewards.
