Dragonius

Because you know ??? items are serious business TG.

Whether or not they're serious business is irrelevant, taking an item that isn't yours and bouncing without a word is fucked up.

Whether or not the potential appraisable item is "good" enough to merit a spot in your gear is once again irrelevant; you don't know who would/would not want that item. It may not be serious business to you, but the game has more than just you in it. There are some worthwhile ??? items, afterall.

second, the accused, auto-translating bloodbead ring with some shifty eyes does not constitute taunting, or claiming that he got the drop... If I had to guess, I'd say the OP sent him a tell that was a little more pressing and accusative than hed be willing to admit here, and in response the dude was letting him know he already had the item and didnt need to steal it. I base that hunch on BoF's account that hes CC'd him for it before.
I don't think you know the definition of taunting.

Agreed. Had someone do this on a possible serket ring before. The leader said brb, disbanded party and logged. Awhile later he was out in thickets xping.

How great, someone decides to pitch a fit, then pitches a worse fit because the first one didn't get him anything but being treated like the little bitch he was for pitching the first fit.

Hell, no one can even prove Dragon appraised the damned ???ringm but seeing as the OP decided to throw a big hissy fit before talking to him, then yes, I'd expect anyone in the game to either toss it, or appraise it, and no matter the outcome, to tell the bitch that he got the best item possible from the ??? drop.

Act like a bitch, you'll get treated like a bitch.

They are to SOME people...:crazyest:
From where I'm sitting, it doesn't appear all that necessary to explore the reasons why he made off with an item, moreso just to know that he did. It would become more important to explore why after Dragonius himself chooses to tell why or why not he did.

I'm not saying he did or didnt take it. Yes it could seem like he force dc'd or logged out, but I've have dc's that have taken 20 minutes to fully take place. going down to r20 then back up so i could move like 5 feet, then back down and finally 20 minutes later completely d/cing me and sometimes i wasn't able to get back on for a day, a few days , and one time over a week I wasn't able to get back on.

Hell, he could of easily had something planned to do a little bit later on, and he was starting to d/c (not knowing how long the actual DC took to be complete) decided to go take a shower and get ready and decided it wasn't worth it to jump back on. Hell I wouldn't jump back on and wait the 5 minutes to get through all of that PoL bullshit just to have to wait another 20mins- an hour to get everyone back to whitegate just to appraise a ??? item. He could have been planning on getting everyone together when he logged back on, but after seeing this little shit throwing an absolute childish bitch fit he decided to be a complete ass to the little bitch about it because of the ass's behavior. I would have.

Agreed. People are saying stop crying and move on, but I bet they will act differently when this actually happens to them. ??? items might turn out to be junks well most times, but that doesnt make stealing right. Im not saying the said person in this flame did in fact fake d/c with the ??? ring, just saying what I have seen from some random Nyzul runs.

2 times this happened to me, ??? boots from Simurgh both times.

First time I made a flame about it, 2nd time I just blisted the guy.

d/ced as soon as we got out of assault, waited for him to come back, for like 15 mins, no show, people got mad and left pt. Then after about 25 mins, he got back on, without sending tells to anyone that was in the pt, appraised item. Then when I asked, he went " Oh sorry d/ced, and just some junks". (2nd guy)

First of all the OP.... people disapear with ??? items in pick up nyzuls, grab a tissue and move on.

I don't know if this is another friend defense post or what, but if you were doing a run and someone went afk for a min and then d/ced for 20mins but with Argus ??? neck you are saying you would just move on? I've done a load of assault runs and good stuff do actually come once in a while. Some people even actually prefer the Nyzul/Assault ~10% appraise rate then camping nms like Bloodsucker and Argus. I just think alot of people are not putting there self in the Deadbeet's shoes.

In my eyes, this is the most poignant post in this entire thread. Mostly from a "hallelujah Blaze, been there, done that, still got a tee-shirt" point-of-view.

Well, one asshole can usually assess another asshole's situation pretty clearly...

Its not a friend defense, i dont know anyone involved. But are you trying to imply that people deliberately do nyzul to get these aprticular items??? because I could understand if you could predict their appearance in your run and then deal with the 10% rate.... but as far as I know these NMs appear completely at random with an infinitesimal chance of being the NM in question. Second, your retort is also flawed because this was a boss run, and they were definitely not after ??? items.

My point is in a pick up group, unless you specifically say what the conditions for ??? items are, do not be surprised when you get burned because you choose to adhere to some unspoken rule....

This is the trend that is the downfall of ffxi as a whole, the player base adopting these unspoken rules of etiquette and morality to help make the game more "fair". I agree with most of these unspoken rules, and I follow them, and I enjoy associating and playing with people that do too... But it is wrong to automatically expect someone you dont really know to adhere to those same conventions, and if they don't, you are free to choose to not associate with these people ever again.

In short, practice what you preach, but dont be a jehovah's witness about it.

That still doesn't make what happened right.

True, but you shouldn't have to tell people what is obvious all the time. Dragon knew that he had to turn it in for the group and not take it for himself. Unless your new to Nyzul you know that and thats how it is. Thats like joining an exp pt and lotting every item for yourself. And you didn't answer my question though, what would you do if it happened to you? If someone grabbed Argus ??? and did the same exact thing, would you just move on?

I see what you are saying arthur , i really do, and I do agree with you , my point is , thats the risk you run in a pickup group... regardless of the reasons, I would confront, and if unresolved, blacklist and move on

People are still using the retarded "x is serious business, i'm being sarcastic so i'm funny." Do you realize how stupid that is?

Who gives a fuck what a mod says god. I'm so bad etc etc.

Am I doing it right? (this is ironic in two ways.)

See but what you both are failing to realize is that ??? items are serious fucking business.

And BB you are saying it like you know exactly what happened. No one knows whether purposely meant to take it or just d/ced, couldn't come back, heard he was flamed, and was like "Fuck this guy" and appraised it/dropped it.

Those and redundancies; "serious biznizz is serious". Really?

This is probably what I would do, but the OP probably just wanted to warn the community so it wouldn't happen again.
