Alright, this rant is all based off of this post:

wait.. having two lvl 70 jobs is saying he plays a lot? look at the jobs he level to 70+ XD I mean.. come on.. getting BLM to 75 is as easy as RDM and WHM.. it's not hard.. only hard for WHM with the R3 part being 1.5 mil now.. but ya >_> the only job easier than RDM (prior 41), BLM, and WHM to level to 75 is BRD.... getting those to 75 don't take long at all.. I'm only a 72 RDM cause I dun really play much more than a few hours a day and have taken months upon months of breaks XD *should be doing homework but slacking >_>* XD

EVERY other point in this thread had been disected. So I just want to point this one out. WTF??? Blm to 75 is easy? Sure if ya play it gimp. Whm is tougher because R3 is 1.5 mil? Excuse me? Ive busted my arse to get my eq and job levels, and to have my hard work dismissed because my job is percieved as "easy" is a tad insulting.

I also want to point out something I find rather ironic. Firestreak posted a link to a Jezza post and said she criticized Vang. If you read the post, she didnt criticize Vang at all (actually she said he had some good points). She was infact criticizing people that follow Vang's post around and kiss and/or crawl up his arse. She also state (and here's the ironic part) that she wants to have someone like that. Well Jezza my friend, you apparently now have firestreak stalking you posts. Gratzzzz.

Be careful what you wish for....

sorry.. but it's true.. you don't have to have the best gear with these jobs to get a party..nope.. not at all.. BRD is the easiest of them all... since it is in the most demand and least likely to find...and.. I dun see what you mean by gimped.. if you mean subjob. that's easy to level up to 37 in a short amount of time... needing up to 6k exp to level is nothing... and if you mean equipment gimped then you haven't read my opinion on gear with that thread... having the best gear does not make you a good player >_> http://www.qcdn.org/viewtopic.php?t=6137 read ^^v

This deserves it's own thread so I am making one for my rant. I apologize ahead of time as I am a little tired so this probably hit me harder than it should of.

WTH? I am sick and tired of posts like this. Sure, I will grant that it can be easier to get an invite based on certain jobs. However I resent the fact that just because I am a Blm, that getting to 75 is "easy". Damnit, I put a TON of hours into getting the best gear I could, none of it was "easy". I got news for you, there are all kinds of jobs out there that get to 75 without a problem. I have seen several people who play "less desired" jobs sprint past me.

As a friend in this game says, "It is not a race to 75". This is so true. I hear people all the time say that they don't need this or that or that they will get it when they get to a higher level. If you want to play that way, fine. For me, however, I took several months off of leveling so I could farm/craft/mine/log my way to a set of HQ staves. My personal theory is (and this is just for myself) why should I wait till later or not at all to get this eq? I only get to play this job one time through, why not get that piece of eq while I still have lots of time to use it? I want to play this character the BEST that I can, and the REALITY is that it means playing it with good eq. Again, this is just me. If someone else wants to play it a different way, fine.

To comment on skill. I am so sick of hearing that eq doesnt equal skill. This is both true and complete bullshit at the same time. The reality is, there is no "skill" in this game, there is only intelligence and timing and the rest is all your equipment. You are not the one swinging the weopan. Skill are the ones who actually, physically do things. Athletes, Craftsman, tradeworkers, doctors, etc all have the ability to be skillful. In the video game world, FPS, certain sports games, etc do take some skill, this game does not. Again, Intelligence and timing are the human factors in this game, not skill.

As far as equipment goes, this game is based on a "dice roll" system. I am not a big D&D nut, so perhaps someone can explain this better than me, but basically what this means is that in every action there is a simulated "dice roll" event that takes place. Every time a weapon is swung, a DR happens to determine if you hit, another to determine how much, another to determine crits etc. This isnt ALL chance, the outcome is also influenced by modifers. Where do these modifiers come from? Equipment and Food. You could be Albert Fucking Einstein, but if you have sub-par eq, and you play with Spongebob in all HQ eq, Spongebob will hit for more and more often. This is an undisputable fact.

I had the pleasure to play with another Blm my level the other day. He had decent eq. But he only had an Ice and Dark staff, and no elemental torque. He used a rolanberry pie, while I used a melon +1. I constantly outdamaged him by 50-100 pts per spell and 150-300 on bursts. My enfeebles stuck more and he got half resists alot where I had virtually non, there by increasing the DoT gap. Was he an "unskillful" player? Not even a little bit. His MP conservation was excellent, he didnt cast any stupid spells, and he didn't miss bursts. So what was the difference? Eq and food.

I am sorry if what I have to say offends and makes people angry, I am sorry but it is just a fact of VanaDiel life that every point of AGI, DEX, STR, INT, ACC, etc does, in fact, matter. Can you have good gear and be a good player? Yes. Do you need to have great gear and be a great player to be the best? Yes! Can you have great gear and still be a bad player? Yes! Now before someone comes in and says, "But you just said..." If you have awesome EQ but can't skillchain or burst or adjust to save your life, you Suck! In fact, the last example is probably the WORST player EVER! It's like being given the keys to a ferari and not being able to beat a Yugo in a race.

Do I call out other people if they dont have the "best"? Nope. Will I call out a person who doesn't skillchain, etc? Absolutely. Again, I play my job/character in such a way so that I can be the best. However I am tired of being told that I play an "easy" job. I am tired of keeping my mouth shut on this topic because I dont want to be accussed of being a "gil buyer" or risk being outcasted for being an "elitest". I worked DAMN hard to be the best and to be put in a generalization that my job is "easy" or that Whm has it tougher because of the cost of Erase or Raise3, is just an insult to my work.

If saying all of this makes me an elistest pig, so fucking be it. I am tired of watching from the shadows and keeping my mouth shut.

You speak the truth.
I don't see you as elitest, Al. You're just taking your time to play to the fullest extent via the equipment/food that the game offers.

/praise

/cheer! I <3 u Alanon!

No you should stay in lvl 1 gear and if anyone questions you say "Fuck you! I shouldn't be getting hit anyways!"

Oh hell yes, I agree with everypoint said in that post. So sick of people being like, why aren't you 75 yet, you been on forever you should be 75 etc etc etc. Its not a god damn race people, I am going to take my time and be one of the best damn WHMs I can be. And guess what... Its not easy, granted I have seen assholes whiz by me in 3 months, but you want to know what? Their gear is shit and they begged for it and help every step of the way, people who know me know that I made my own gil. I worked for evert penny, and to me my gear has that much more value to me. And people know that if a piece of gear will positively effect my performance I will buy it, I have Ice staff and wind staff to cast Debuffs and buffs. I plan on upgrading my Ice staff and Wind Staff to HQs when my BLM gets to 51? Why? Because they will make me that much better.

Deciding not to get Vermillion Cloak was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but in the end there was no justifying the gil because its not like you can have a real EXP party without RDM anyways, and I am getting Nobles Coat at 68 anyways...

As a friend said (and I do not doubt he will chime in at some point) Its not a race to 75, it is however, a competition to be the best. I mean to be.

Aaaaaaa freakin men!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wish more people would realize that.

Im happy at that responses. I was really expecting to get slammed on this. As far as the "race" thing and my philosophy goes, let me give an example:

I was talking to a Rng friend the other day. She REALLY wanted the PCC charm for her ranger. However, she said that she would wait until being a much higher level so she could do HNM runs and buy it.

Here's my take on that. I am not saying that a Rng HAS to have a PCC charm, but if a Rng REALLY wants it, why put all the effort into obtaining it later when you are already at end-game. Why not put the effort in earlier so that you can enjoy the fruits of your labor for that much longer?

Quick exemple of how people take this game too seriously or as a race:

Got invited to fill a spot in a Crawler's Nest party, I was in Jeuno. I accepted and got my food and ammo and stuff. Then for no reason, I decided to play a joke. I bought some subligars.

So I choc there, get in and walk to the sack room. Just before jumping down, I change in nothing but my subligars, dream hat and my scythe on my back. And proceed, all seriously, to my party and do the /psych emote. Of course I get tons of check messages, lots of shout for LOL and ROFL and Good one... except the party kicked me out.... for crying out loud, did they really think that was my official fighting gear?????

Anyway, I used a papillion, bowed and got another invite immediately from someone who thought that was funny!

What I'm saying is some people need to loosen up. I know I'll get bashed on for saying this, but I don't mind getting 2-3K exp per hour unstead of 5-6K if that means we are laughing most of the time.

It's a game... PLAY!!!! It's not a job... ... almost...

You're right Veresko...but "playing" means different things to different people. That's what makes choice such a wonderful thing. I can choose to sit back and get 2k/hr or I can choose to be a bit more serious and go for the 5-6k/hr. Let me say this though...getting 6k/hour doesn't necessarily exclude having fun! I have a blast with my static and we just ROCK! We have 5 regular members and pick up a 6th...and the 6th person ALWAYS says they wish they were in our static..why? Because we have fun AND we rake in the xp.

I used to think (being a tank 99% of the time) that some jobs were "easier" to play than others (/point WHM). I quickly changed my opinion when I tried to lvl these types of jobs :D .

And yes some jobs do have 0 lfp time ... but, IMO, this type of job do have a +50% "being invited by a crappy party" bonus

Excellent point.

Well as a thief i get so little invites that ill usually take the first one i can out of desperation. I always get the really crappy one where the mages think its cool to be higher up on the hate list than the rng and then the rng cant turn the mob when it time to sc since the tank's been keeping it off the damn trigger happy mages.

 I am shocked that a mage job would be considered easy...

I mean as a RDM I can barely even watch the battle, I am too busy watching my static's MP bars keeping up with refresh on the mages/pallys, hasting the other members, dispeling the damned mobs, then enfeebing and nuking.... Is that somehow considered easier that hitting "attack" and standing there until a SC is ready? (Oh - almost forgot - as a mage I am also waiting for SC's to burst off of)

I am NOT in ANYWAY saying that non-mage jobs have it easy. I don't really believe that anyone does. I mean, yeah maybe we get invites faster - but I leveled my Monk to 10 in a couple of hours...my WHM - not so easy to level. I am sure DD's have more to worry about as they raise in levels, and I don't lack respect for them at all...unless they take mages for granted (which is an easy thing for most to do - especially RDM's I am noticing)

Anyone who says playing a mage is "easy" is an asshole who obviously hasn't spent enough time on the job to have an educated opinion.

and....I <3 AL

Fist off, I'd like to say I both agree and disagree.

Some people level to 75 quickly, like myself did compared to some of you, because simply, we really really enjoy the "exp grind" that so many people on this board say that they can't stand. I love exp parties. I loved playing BLM. There is of course something to be said about getting all the important gear, and getting every spell, but since when was getting HQ everything the standard? Standards change as prices change, and means to get items change.
My gear is much better now than when I leveled BLM. Why? Cause when I leveled BLM
1) Scrolls costed much more. Flare = 200k for example.
2) The HQ gear costed more. My NQ Ice staff was 460k, Dark was 600k. These are around the prices of the HQ stuff now.

The statement is true, that simply if you wish to reach level 75, and that is your goal, a high demand job is easier and faster.

As for actually in the party, BLM is no easy job. Anyone who tells you that is simply a shitty BLM. But I enjoyed playing it and I spent so much time calculating different playing strategies, seeing dmg/mp/time, looking at chains, and maximizing my efficiency.

I guess there's just a middle ground.

A: Poeple who want the very best of the best: I respect that, and you are in no way worse than people who level faster. That's your choice.

B: People who want to reach level 75 and have the appropriate gears. I know this is gonna sound bad, but some of the best actual players in terms of strategy. EXP Party experience builds lots of useful no-how.

C: People who want to get to 75 as fast as possible. It's not that their gear is bad, but they are missing what most would consider required. ( Based on how much it costs / affects you). E.g., you may not want a Morian +1, but at least get a fricking Morian set at 30, it's not so expensive for the extra INT.

That post I believe was refering to the B section, where a vast majority of players considered acceptable live at. If you do want to actually reach 75, BLM will simply have an easier time getting party. It has nothing to do with gears of how much time put in, it has to do with the fact that most party setups benefit from a blackage. Hell even with 2 or 3 blackmages another works well.

Another note: Besides actually enjoying leveling, there's another reason to do it. Many of you know all about God LS. But how many of you know what it's actually like to be in one? Most God LS have more people than required to beat every NM they fight. Why?

Well if you're a DRK you're useful for collecting Ro-Meave Water for popping Genbu. But when genbu actually pops, you'd be better off being a BLM. For hunting the waters, those pots are highly resistant to BLM. See the problem here?
Need Melees to get the water, yet need BLMs to kill the NM. Hence there are BLMs sitting around doing squat to furfill their obligation to fight Genbu, and during the fight melees standing around doing little.
If everyone had several jobs, the same work could be done with less people. More reward, higher chance of getting abjuration. Be a RNG for killing pots and then switch to BLM for Genbu. Isn't that another way to "play to one's full potential"? As filling in for different jobs as needed I think I offer much more to the table. As for gear... well levleing WHM now. Got V Cloak(though I bought at 2 million not 4), HQ Light staff. Astrals ext.. could use a Serket, but I'm not gonna stop and get it. Maybe when I find a spot where I actually think 25 more MP would have affected the party in any way(if it's Nin tank I never go past halfway usually, if it's PLD they usually run out of MP before me retaining hate).

So I don't know, maybe these points are valid to you. Not criticising your way of playing, but defending mine a bit.

no offense.. but playing BLM never really was hard... you stand up.. and nuke.. knowing the weaknesses of the mobs so you know the proper nuke is good and knowing the things to put on the mob like chock are important and helpful too.. but I don't find BLM as a challenge.. you stand up and nuke and sit down and rest... as an Elvaan RDM however I help with nuking, am often the only one hasting the melees, refreshing everyone in the party that needs it (a lot of the parties consisting of everyone in need of refresh) and healing statuses and HP all in one battle... I don't get much time to sit down and rest... granted BLM is not an "easy" job but playing RDM is certainly harder than BLM.. if you don't think so.. level up a RDM Elvaan and see how your MP fairs and how you do... oh.. and there have been times I've out nuked a BLM (sad ya..) and times I've had the most MP in the party (again.. Elvaan RDM.. I dun think I should be beating a Mithra or a Hume.. or especially a Taru ><) but I do my job and I work hard as a RDM as long as it's not when I'm getting an invite when I'm dead tired (I tend not to party then as it is but friends have begged me to come cause they need a RDM even though I'm tired I go...) and I have been complimented by JP, NA, Euroopean, and various other players of other nationalities... complimented on keeping all refreshed who need it while healing a status element as soon as it is cast on the person (usually the tank) and keeping all hasted and many other things... I work hard as a RDM... and I know with the best equipment I could be better.. but I don't have hours upon hours to hunt things or farm (ugh.. boring.. both ><) so I can make 4million gil just to buy a ring that'll give me 30 more MP.... I see a lot of jobs easier since I find that RDM is perhaps one of the hardest jobs to manage.. cooldown of spells.. casting time of spells... it's really hard to make all the timing work.. and manage to keep enough MP for the next battle... I think WHM, SMN, PLD, and many other things easier than a RDM.. but that's my opinion.. and I am pleased to hear you are a player that is working hard to get the best equipment.. I try too to get the best that I can... and I have a lot of good equipment that costs quite a bit... but I get maybe 3-4 hours to play and I try to set aside that to level so I can get the stuff that I really want which are drops from Gods and HNMs which give me the nice Rare/ex equipments...

Forgive me as I don't have any experience as an Elveen BLM, but as Tarutaru I was constantly attempting to use my MP resources to try to build the chain as high as possible by guaging how long until the chain breaks, how much TP there is and is needed. There is it time to finish the mosnter off, when is there spare time to allow the melees to build up TP before the kill?
Just standing up, nuking and sitting down without really thinking, isn't always the best way to play.

The only sense that I see BRD, BLM, WHM, RNG, & NIN being any easier than other jobs is their number of invitations to XP parties. Most of the time, people try to form a back line + tank first, and fill in the melee positions. This leaves 2 spots for 2 melees. RNG is preferred because of their dmg. But let's say that they are not preferred and we can lump them in w/the rest of the melees (MNK, WAR, THF, DRG, SAM, DRK).

That's 6 jobs competing for 2 spots, and when you take into account the popularity of jobs such as THF and SAM you can see why there are fewer invites. There is only 1 spot for BRD & RDM, 1 spot for WHM, and 1 spot for BLM. These jobs are not really rare to find (maybe BRD), but you have a much less number of people to choose from.

This is the only way that I see it is any easier to get to 75 w/one job than another. When you are invited to more parties, you get more experience. Experience points equal levels. Competition and popularity of some jobs makes it harder for other jobs to get to 75 because they have less chances at experience points parties.

Every job has expensive equipment that they want, so that's really a moot point for anyone to make. Anyway, that's just my 2G, and I hope it made sense. >.<orz
