no offense.. but playing BLM never really was hard... you stand up.. and nuke.. knowing the weaknesses of the mobs so you know the proper nuke is good and knowing the things to put on the mob like chock are important and helpful too.. but I don't find BLM as a challenge.. you stand up and nuke and sit down and rest

Uh-Huh. I personally dont find Rdm that difficult. I mean all you do is refresh and convert, hell you dont even sit!

Blah, no edit button. Edit - 7 jobs competing for 2 positions (if you include RNG).

Yeah I think that's what you guys are both saying...

All jobs require a good bit of experience to really understand. Let's leave the speculation and number crunching, etc. to the tards at Allakhazam. Let them have the heart attack over it.

I just have to call out this bit...

The reality is, there is no "skill" in this game, there is only intelligence and timing and the rest is all your equipment. You are not the one swinging the weopan. Skill are the ones who actually, physically do things. Athletes, Craftsman, tradeworkers, doctors, etc all have the ability to be skillful. In the video game world, FPS, certain sports games, etc do take some skill, this game does not. Again, Intelligence and timing are the human factors in this game, not skill.

Skill: Proficiency, facility, or dexterity that is acquired or developed through training or experience.

I bolded what I thought was the important bit. Basically, "skill" doesn't mean physical strength, etc. You say that "intelligence and timing" are the only things that matter. I say that "intelligence and timing" are skill.

But that's a minor disecting of terms.

So, what differentiates between a newbie and a good player? Gear/food/etc does play a role, as I would rather take a player that has good items over one that doesn't. But player skill makes a huge difference, too. A DRK with Haubergeon +1, sole sushi +1, etc. that constantly hits Souleater, Last Resort, and Berserk (or SATA) at the same time, thus pulling hate off the tank and either dying or draining MP from the mages is far worse than a DRK that's still using RK chainmail and mithkabobs, but knows his job well enough to not deal more damage than the tank can handle. Just because a BLM has all 8 HQ elemental staves doesn't mean he's good, and I'd rather take a BLM that has only the NQ staves (or even one that just has the NQ ice and dark staves) but can hit every MB over one with all the HQ staves but doesn't understand the basics of hate control and MBing. A PLD with the best possible gear but no skill at holding hate is worse than one with only passable gear but never loses hate, even when the THF SATAs off someone else. And I'd rather have a NIN that can hold hate and knows when to recast Utsusemi than one that has a scorp. harness +1 and other godly gear but keeps getting hit and/or loses hate because he doesn't know how to play his job well.

You are right! Did you miss the eye roll? Here lemme do it again:

It's called SARCASM! Basically, my statement was just as fucking stupid as yours! Damn, it's like pulling teeth with some people.

ya I know I wasn't saying all that a BLM should be doing.. but I'd say a RDM does more than a BLM ^^v BLM aren't expected to help with healing.. but RDM more so are... but it's nice when BLM do ^^v

Quick exemple of how people take this game too seriously or as a race:

Got invited to fill a spot in a Crawler's Nest party, I was in Jeuno. I accepted and got my food and ammo and stuff. Then for no reason, I decided to play a joke. I bought some subligars.

So I choc there, get in and walk to the sack room. Just before jumping down, I change in nothing but my subligars, dream hat and my scythe on my back. And proceed, all seriously, to my party and do the /psych emote. Of course I get tons of check messages, lots of shout for LOL and ROFL and Good one... except the party kicked me out.... for crying out loud, did they really think that was my official fighting gear?????

Anyway, I used a papillion, bowed and got another invite immediately from someone who thought that was funny!

What I'm saying is some people need to loosen up. I know I'll get bashed on for saying this, but I don't mind getting 2-3K exp per hour unstead of 5-6K if that means we are laughing most of the time.

It's a game... PLAY!!!! It's not a job... ... almost...

You're right Veresko...but "playing" means different things to different people. That's what makes choice such a wonderful thing. I can choose to sit back and get 2k/hr or I can choose to be a bit more serious and go for the 5-6k/hr. Let me say this though...getting 6k/hour doesn't necessarily exclude having fun! I have a blast with my static and we just ROCK! We have 5 regular members and pick up a 6th...and the 6th person ALWAYS says they wish they were in our static..why? Because we have fun AND we rake in the xp.

Kiere, you are absolutely right and I won't argue with this, I did not mean to say that you had to choose between the 2 scenarios. Of course, the ideal thing is to get 6K of exp/ hour AND have a blast doing it!

What I meant is that if I only get 2K and even if I die, but I had a lot of fun, personally I don't feel like I waisted my time. Some may disagree with this! But if I met new friends, made a lot of jokes and laughed all the way, I don't care if I die.

Oh and Kiere, need a 6th member??? lol Promise I won't show up in subligars!

I believe Sethala's point can be summorized with a quoe from the greatest movie ever. The original Dawn of the Dead.

"The only person who could ever miss with this gun is the sucker with the bread to buy it."

Best line ever.

God DAMNIT! 2 seconds after saying I wasn't going to post I see this waste of internet space. Rather than retyping it, let me cut and paste from my original post:

"But you just said..." If you have awesome EQ but can't skillchain or burst or adjust to save your life, you Suck! In fact, the last example is probably the WORST player EVER! It's like being given the keys to a ferari and not being able to beat a Yugo in a race.

I'd cut and paste more, but it's just not worth the effort so Ill just point you back to the original post and tell you to kindly read the whole fucking thing before posting nitpicking Bullshit.

I like firestreaks posts much better. We may not always agree on everything, but at least he makes thought out arguments and doesn't pick out one line and nitpick it with rehashed stuff that was already covered in the post you are picking on.

Well, I wanna point out something here...

DRK is by far the hardest job to do, you guys just don't get it cause you are too busy having it easy.

But when I decide to play WAR, then this becomes the hardest job to play, of course!!!! Voke and all....

And what about when I tried to be WHM, boy that was the hardest job out there. Keeping the damn WAR alive while he is standing there spaming voke and having it easy!!!

And don't get me started on BST, omg this is the hardest job to level, except if I decide to play NIN..... fuck is that job hard, gotta be the hardest!!!

SARCASM!!! Just in case...... everyone here is pointing out how much harder his job is then the rest. I think it 's safe to say they all have challenges to it and rewards, why else would anyone play them??

The easiest job is probably choc vendor, just scam people and laugh at them while they ride away broke!!!!

One question to everyone who uses the "I don't need to get better gear because gear doesn't equal skill" excuse...

Have you ever met someone with insane gear that isn't very good at their job? (Gilbuyer's excluded - that's a whole different topic.) If you have the dedication to spend hours upon hours to get that gear, you definately have the dedication to learn how you can play your job to its fullest.

Admittedly...I don't do this often...because I have the awesomest WHM around...but I DO heal occasionally. Especially when the WHM starts taking hits. I'll also throw in a curaga if at the end of the fight the whm is low and i've still got mp. I'll also cure status effects if the whm is resting (assuming I have the spell...wish i was high enough for viruna these days..lol) I also help the puller when he starts taking a few too many hits by running towards him and casting stun...well i could go on an on...but the point is...most jobs aren't as easy as someone who doesn't do them would reduce them to.

You're my new hero dude... ><

But yeah, I'm a galka Dark Knight, and I don't find it the hardest to play, but one of the hardest to get parties with. Having borderline the worst accuracy in the game, I have to spend loads of money on acc+ stuff. I *could* just wait and get in an xp party and do shit all, but I don't like to play that way. I like to do my share in the party, so I farm to get my good equipment.

Moral of my story is - don't leech xp. Do your god danged part. If you do leech, I hate you!

I'd still say RDM is expected to do a lot more than a BLM or a WHM... and we need to do them to make things work well.. but I do know that WHM and BLM need to do lots of things too and do them correctly so that the party would be good.. same with the melees... and I think the tank has more work than most the party perhaps but depends on the setup ^^ can't be easy holding hate with a taru BLM dealing 1500 damage a MB XD but ya.. each job is difficult on its own level but I think BLM, RDM, WHM, and BRD have perhaps the easiest ride to the top as well as a NIN or PLD cause tanks are always needed.. THF has it tougher after lvl 60 and before lvl 30 I'd say.. and DRG have it tough in general.. poor DRGs... Warriors have it really tough too cause not many invite them or realize their DD potential... but ya.. I don't think anyone can't agree a BLM RDM WHM and BRD have it perhaps the easiest with finding a party...

I'm sure Monk is terribly hard to play.

Reach level 30 - watch everyone stop and start over with advanced jobs. Just stand there and keep fighting and stuff...
Sit in Jeuno chatting and not farming
Hit stuff alot
Do some more stuff
Don't camp NMs and stuff considering you have the fastest claim tool in the game. Bah too much work!
Hit some more stuff and stuff....
Don't level your subjob, too much work....leveling 2 whole seperate jobs Monk AND Warrior??? (No Thanks) (I'm Sleepy)
Sit In Jeuno thinking to yourself that being a MNK/WAR maybe isn't going to be the fastest way to 75.
Go on Alla and bitch about how RNG/NIN is overpowered and needs to be nerfed for "stealing" your party spot for the umpteenth time in the Monk forums.

Bah, it's not a coincedence that there is a sudden influx in Warriors and Monks post 30 now in the past 3 months. If you love the job that's great, I don't mind either in my party....but 90% are only in it to try and get to 75 the fastest, they look like shit, they play like shit, and they make me make shitty posts like this.

I played one of the most sought after jobs to invite and I still had the best, Ill be god damned if I didnt have the best as a 2 week at a time LFG monk. There is no excuse for anyone to not have the finest, but especially Monks, DRGs, etc. Best believe I would have Cross Counters . So be a winner, be like Vang.

Hell, I've lost track of the number of bad Thieves that have passed me in level. Bad gear, can't setup SATA.

It's like the Paladins who tried to gimp their way to 75 decided they could do a better job and picked Thief up.

...no I seriously think it's the Paladins. Not only have I known a few who did just this, but the way they screwup the SATA looks about the same.

I also saw something REALLY weird the other day... Thief in Gustav tunnel.

Talked to his Blm... he was doing a good job, getting SC damage to match mine... yet his most expensive piece of equipment was about 8k. Didn't even HAVE rings. Was doing a good job pulling...

Kind of made me go O_O... I just hope he got that kind of damage off being two levels higher then me...

I was sittting and watching this, and I inspected the situation because I was the same lv range with my flag up, and had about 600k more in gear on me. So I figured there was a reason they didn't ditch his gimped ass and pick me up.

...lo, and there was. :?
