Well I'm upset to see Liddell come to his end. I suspect one more fight to announce his retirement. I had to step outside after his defeat because I saw his disappointment as soon as it ended and well I'm still a chick and it would have upset me further. Guess the Ice Man needs to be put on ice.
FUCK and he even entered with Reign in Blood for crying out loud! He should have wiped the floor with his face!
The Silva / Leites fight was fucking boring. As I've said before, I know these guys can't very well rush in and risk getting knocked the fuck out. Especially considering the opponents skill level, but give me a break. Leites annoyed the hell out of me. Dropping and rolling on his back umpteen times presenting himself for the taking. As if he didn't get the clue Silva didn't want to play in the sand box after the first 5 times. Silva and his cocky showboating is getting to me too. He's done a fair bit of arrogant dancing his last couple fights and it's just not necessary. We all know he's a phenomenal fighter, so why the Ali? I know the man gets bored, and he's probably trying to get a rise from his opponent to spice up the battle. Then again he could just be having a little fun. Still a shitty show. Leites was obviously intimidated by Silva and yet Silva still played safe. Leites was barely offensive.
It's safe to say Silva didn't much like the crowd in Montreal. After the 5th and the first answer to Joe Rogan he went to walk right out the octogan...
I can just imagine though, those seats cost anywhere between $400 - $800 to watch SUCH a shitty show. Wonder if there will be a riot tonight.
The best fight by far imo tonight was Sam Stout vs Matt Wiman. Although it looked like Matt wiman was on coke, or something. He certainly looked a strange character. It was close, and an argument broke out over who should have won the decision. I think the right call was made though. IT was close by the end of it, but Matt didn't do quite enough in the 3rd to sway a winning decision imo.
Well. I expect to see GSP vs Silva very soon. GSP will probably take him. They're pretty evenly matched BUT.. after seeing the Silva isn't used to going the distance (not that he tired), he played it safe. GSP will capitalize on that. His stand up is just as superior and the man can dominate the ground game too.
