HUH?! WTF?

Ok now on to the real point. SE admited to making the exp TNL incredibly steep after Genkai to slow the hard core gamers down from getting to the cap too fast. This is just not the case anymore. Change is needed and they reconignize that and are doing something about it. And from a business stand point it just makes good sense.

What do you think is more important to SE.

1. That few level 75ers "feel" that thier level and the road they took means something.

2. That more people leaves the game feeling that they accomplished the game, therefore that they would buy this game again and play final fantasy again.

After all it is SE making decisions in this game and not us, and they have to think about the greater good. Which one is it?

I think it's all pretty inconsequential. People are going to buy FF or not regardless because they will determine if they want the next FF game based on the last single player not MMORPG. They want to get more people back to FF basically who already quit to WoW. I don't think this is targeted to any of us, because if you had stayed still you probably enjoyed the challenge FF had to offer over WoW. As well the Japanese have no real alternatives as there's no competition for FF there. But I will say I know many are very upset with this update and some have stopped leveling as a result. (Of course Square doesn't care until they stop paying)
And are they going to get people back as a result of this. I'm pretty skeptical to be honest. Are some people going to quit? Probably around the same as who come back. But in the long run this is a bad idea.

Now you see, I have heard this argument that people want this simply because they want Square to make more money so they never shut down FF. But long term, when games get easier and easier is when the based population tend to leave. I say this from my experience with other MMORPG.

But at this point I feel like I've vented my frusteration and want to just wait and see what happens. The only reason I'm really still posting here Darkdante is some of the other guys arguing with me are posting some stupid shit and it's annoying.

firestreak i tried to address one of your points a few pages ago but you completely ignored me man. if you wanna get on that and actually talk issues feel free.. i believe its on page 16 or 17.

This thread is spinning its tires. And I love how the only people that get any response, on either side, are the emotional ones that piss and moan.

If you can't beat them, join them. Here's some emotion you can pay attention to and actually understand, since logic stepped out pages ago.
Picking out one well put together thought out of the many pointless ones is a task I'm not interested in.

To the truly jealous ones, I will see you at 75, sky, Gods, and all that you hold dear.

My precious!!! Boo-friggin'-hoo.
Whiners.

When I get there, I'll show you how I perform at a level of 70, although my status shows 75 and I have the abilities to match.

SE will make more adjustments than just this one. You've always got the option to leave and call it quits.

I was in the FIRST NA god-shell. You know when your easy mode first job was probably still in VD begging for a skull. That shell and I parted ways on less than good terms soon after it began doing sky but I would rather leave it at that since I don't hold grudges and would rather forgive and forget the entire thing.

Mistaya you reached what.. level 70 at the same time as my second job? And easy mode? Maybe your memory fails you but first generation didn't matter a damn what job you were. You can't level faster than every else because you can't freaking solo for XP.

And it's funny though, because I started doing Gods juist as soon as NA started doing them, and I'll be damned if I ever saw you there once. What level were you exactly? How many abjuration did you get? Are you high enough level even to wear abjuration?

The first NA Hakatutu I was at, and I'll be damned if I don't recall you. It was Jsoft's hat and Secret got a hat too. It was no 6 hat run.

And I recall a bunch of level 40 and 50 at that King Behemoth fight as well tractoring people around. But I do recall being one of the high levels that actually was there and killed it

And I'm sorry if my bluntness comes off as being an asshole, but let's just admit the truth here that basically you've tagged along and seen some stuff, but you've not actually gone and done all the things end game LS do on a daily basis for any signifigant amount of time. And somehow you still managed to get burned out of it cause you QUIT FF and WENT TO WoW!. That doesn't seem to be to be the activities of a person who is completely satisfied and interested in all the endgame activity?

And to the last part... I am not threatened by more 75ers. Unlike a lot of people, I have never once made the argument that I'm worried 75 will become too jam packed. By thank you for arguing against comments I didn't make... like usual. I'm threatened that being max level will be too easy. That's all.

And to Panda, it's all getting hazy at this point as we're in something of a 20 page thread, but if I do recall.. I wasn't targeting my comment towards you but to Konartist. I could be wrong.... I don't really care to check. Get bent.

Truth be said - everyone wants to be "the first". No offense but I seriously doubt that, for the first time in what, 2 YEARS, that NA JUST got Nidhogg for their first time. among other crap~
Unless of course you were there, every single time it popped, so you have firsthand proof. x2

I wish they'd make "copies" of the Dynamis areas and BCNM areas, so that there's no waiting line. i.e. alliances (a) goes to Dynamis-Bastok, and alliances (b) had it planned, and they simply goto Dynamis-Bastok (same map outlook+mobs, but not same map as other alliances, if that makes sense)

Actually that would be the first real NA linkshell claim on Nidhogg ever on this server. Kinda sad really, but it's really good to know we're starting to break some ground finally. This is what I wanted AshForever to be, but people didn't have the drive to do anything =\... good job proph, btw! Wait >_> wrong thread!! AHHHH

I agree... but for the most part, people have been coming at me, and I've been trying to point out they aren't making logical sense...

Whiners.

Being as I'm sure this is directed at me, I'm not particulary sure what it is I've got to be jealous about. And I'm not crying about it. I said what I felt, people argued against me. I argued back. Give me a fuckin' break. Having an opinion that doesn't = yours apparently = whining?

This is a classic pattern of the QCDN debates I'm witnessing. I say something that is gererally an unpopular opinion. People disagree with me. People argue against me. I am labeled a "whiner" for arguing back. All in all this change doesn't matter a particulary high amount to me, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with people who think it's a good thing.

What do you want me to say, sorry for not backing down when I believe something?

Other mmo's call that an "instance dungeon." Totally possible, just doesn't fit in FF's model i suppose.

One word: ...
Or for anyone that doesn't know, that's an "Elipsis"

Really though, that's total bullcrap. I'd rather not wind up playing King-of-The-Mountain at the top if 1/3 the server's up there. ><

i didnt say i was at the first hakutaku, read the post. And this has gone completely offtopic and i'm not going to post here anymore.

What the hell are you arguing about? LVL 75 being too easy because they lower the exp tnl by a small fraction? You're ridiculous.

You make as many assumptions about my character as I made about yours in my VD line. If you don't know the facts stop making them up. Thats why I put that obviously inflated line in there because everything you have been saying is that inflated. 75 is going to be worthless because it takes less time to achieve. boo-freaking-hoo. Maximum one less party per level. And fyi, first time through was not as quick for everyone. Talk to dibson how he got to 70 when THAT was the cap, with a lvl 11 subjob that the JP's b*tched at him for because he didnt have cure 2 but they invited him anyways.

Sneaky is right. That was my attitude when I was leveling my jobs. Then it just got stupid. I quit and went to WoW because everyone I cared about quit and went to WoW. Guess they meant more to me than some dumb number next to my name. If I wanted to I could have had my drk and ninja to 75 in less than that month I quit and done everything you claim is so damn important. /shrug I couldve shut up and followed the rules of my linkshell which at the time I found completely unfair. It really doesn't matter now, and I see no need to say more.

Thanks for reminding me not to renew my content id's. This whole thing is one big reminder of the attitudes that drove me away from this game in the first place. /disgusted. Go ahead and keep playing your game based on jelousy. Theres a line between the haves and the have nots. It just a got a little thinner and you're up in arms about it. You've yet to put forth a valid reason WHY your so upset. "It will be too easy." And? Thats bad why?

Like I said last post here so whatever. I'll just fade into the background again since it doesnt matter what my opinions are if i don't have Kirin's Captivator next to my name.

it's not jealousy that makes those of us that think this new change to exp is wrong. Atleast... for me, I see it as unfair to the people that did sacrifice time and money (remember it took the current level 75s longer to get to 75 so they spent more money due to paying monthly to play....) and worked hard for a significantly longer time... the only problem I have is that I'm not getting compensated for the time/money/exp that I've used/made to get to where I am and I've yet to get anything I really want done...done...the people that seem to be all for this are those that haven't achieved 75 yet and are too impatient to spend more time getting to it... and so I see Firestreak being called jealous, which is complete bullshit. Don't start thinking that because someone doesn't agree to the benefits you are recieveing that the person is automatically jealous...cause I know I'm not... I just don't see anything fair for the players that have worked so hard to 75 and died losing 25% exp a death...now it seems they are reducing it to only 8% exp loss after level 25.... why do any of you really think that people that have achieved one or even more jobs to 75 and aren't getting any of all they put into it back.... that this is fair for all other players to get to 75 faster/easier? There's no fairness in it from what I can see... and Firestreak is right...making it easier will cheapen the meaning of being level 75.... look at WoW.... it's nothing special getting to 60 there or to 100 with any craft.... boring....

It was 10%, not 25% (thank god) o_o;

And I started playing FFXI March 2004, my highest level character is 63. Quit after a bunchof slow, beyond-crap parties. Does this mean I'd have earned 75 any easier just because the exp is less? When I hafto but up with parties that give slow exp, or have a noob (or FIVE) that cause the battles to take longer than necessary?

"Back then", when people weren't as anal about gear and subjob and stuff, and there was nowhere near as big a flood as noobs, I'm sure you got exp parties easier, and the exp was probably really good (just as assumption).

But now, when there's half a dozen expectations per job, as well as a sub that HASTO be maxed, it's harder to get a party, period, and there biggest inflation in FFXI isn't the market, but the idiots, which are an unescapable plague that can only be cured with a bullet to the head.

Case and point, I think wether the exp is changed or not, we'll all wind up working just as hard in the end. Unless of course you have a really good static and/or are level-hungry and go for L60-70 in one week. In which... /slap@you for obsessing that much.

no...believe me... the exp and noob parties hasn't actually changed... realize that things are improving exp/hr actually compared to the past where the first wave had no idea how to fight against a new type of mob they never fought before but they did it and passed on the exp location/strategies to other players and it still continues today with S-E adding new locations in. Just then the people had to deal with the exp loss and the newbness and noobness... so it still seems more unfair to me. And I only recently made 75 and got to benefit off of people that "paved the way" for exp parties (i.e. where to exp and what to exp on). And it was actually 25% exp loss even further back when the game first came out here. HP gave back about 15% of the exp loss and R1 giving about 25% RII giving 75% and R3 giving around 95% (they still give that much back but the initial exp loss has been lessened)

Ah...then I guess I'm wrong....

But still, I don't think noobs will get too far past 60. If there's a noob, they'll probably
-Do something to get themself killed
-Do something that gets them kicked from party
-Do something that breaks the party
-Do something that kills the entire party, probably resulting in at least one of the above
-Do something that makes getting a party altogether difficult (mainly bad rep, but also bad subjob, grossly underlevelled subjob)

Anyone asides that may be a moron, but not a noob.....which, respectively, I've seen quite a few level 70+ morons. It's funny how many 75SAMs don't know what a Sukesada is O_o
