Next update on EXP

Not so bad of an example really because it illustrates my point. If you want to come along and be declared "better" than Babe Ruth, you damn straight need to beat his records fair and square. In my opinion, that asterisk needs to be there until Babe Ruth record is annilihated with a margin to compensate the difference. People already have better bats, better training, fitness programs... do we really need to give players more games to beat old records?

This seems like ond of those things where we're going to have to agree to disagree, because we have a fundelmental different way of thinking here.

Do those already @ 75 get anything from update having to gain all that xp b4 it? ex: that xtra xp added into our lvl as we are doing merrits or merrits themselves?

No. In fact if you are level 75 with 43,999 and they lower the cap to 35,000 for example, that 9k of buffer is erased.

Really, I doubt it's going to decrease that much, if at all at 75.

For all we know this Experience change could just be smoothing out the experience from 50-75, instead of 5 level of 20ktnl 56-60 for example, and removing the excess.

I was thinking on the sports analogy and the difference between the time / rules.

It is very similar to the "most successful movies". There are differing
prices, culture of movie goers, but it was easy to boil down to:

"butts in seats" who had the most? Still it's unfair as there are more
movie goers and it's more popular to go. There's no end to the sports /
movie thing but there will eventually be an end to the xp thing.

It will change. Talks will eventually calm. People will mostly forget.

Remember that the pitchers have gotten better too. In Ruth's day it wasn't uncommon for someone to pitch on 2 days rest (as opposed to 5) and you really only saw two pitches: a fastball (80-82mph, not 95+) and a curve. No sliders, no straight changes, nothing today's hitters have to deal with because of how refined pitching has become. There really wasn't a minor-league system to speak of to season people. A guy that can hit 40 or 50 home runs in the current league would probably bat close to .500 with 75-85 home runs back in Ruth's day.

Its the update on the 20th right???????

YAY CANT WAIT!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Even though I may not be on the same side, and I"m not saying he's winning here cuz I just don't know, I must say Fire can hold a damn good argument against the odds.

Should try to be a lawyer dude ^^. That never say die attitude could make ya rich ^^.

Wow, I love to read the first post in a topic and then read the last right afterwards. Its funny how much a topic can sway from the original point...

He was using and analogy, that was directly from the main point of the topic. You have to read more into it to understand what what going on. But they were on it anyway...

I agree with the sports analogies, because sports emphasize the entertainment of the now over the facts of the past, and they do not end just as leveling should never really end.

When I said 75 is a depreciating asset, I speak nothing of finances. You have a character, and it has a wealth attached to it within the game. Your gil. Your equipment. Your gameplay. Your knowledge of the game. Your linkshell. Your craft. Your levels. Your level has been depreciating in value for the last year and a half, regardless of when you started or how high you are. So has your craft level. So has your gil. Square has implemented tactics in all these areas to match effort with value. You would be well on the way to realizing the necessity of this action if you can spot the difference between:

Making gil harder to obtain to correct for inflation (decreased value per unit).
Making levels easier to obtain to correct for inflation (decreased value per unit).

Hint: How many have the maximum allowed gil?

This is a flame, the ontopic part is below:

Wow what a wonderful thread, someone who takes easy mode in leveling a job to 75 thinks hes the master debater because he replies to every post.

/golfclap

Young Firestreak apparently feels unimpressive anymore in his parents basement unable to cope with the fact he may have to be a little more socialable because more players may hit 75 and have to interact with them.

It must suck being a mage class when the only reason you're there is because of your class instead of who you are. Obviously thats why Firestreak is so upset at this, he will be used by strangers instead of his friends who see that hes a mage rather then the person he claims to be. Thats what I get from him in these posts, someone who cares more about that stupid number then who the person playing the game.

When I started my HNM(that god shell thing is stupid btw like that whole sky thing) shell with Nasya, Phazen and friends, we had small goals and spent months getting things in motion. The only reason we started that shell since we wanted more of our friends involved. We were pretty comfy where most of us were already at in Kurei's shell, well I wasn't there anymore but I had plenty of $$$ to get by :)

Mistaya and I, along with a few others sacrificed our playing time sitting around waiting for a stupid bird to pop or that purple thing in KBD. The rest of the LS leveled for the good of the LS. I only bring this up to explain why we never hit 75, we took a hit for the team.

Apparently when Firestreak did those gods and things he thought his little sect of society was the only group of capable at the time. I'm so sorry my neck of the woods didn't run around and brag to everyone what we were doing before you guys. Who gives a shit what you think you saw, we did it before you. I was in a JP mostly shell when I killed my first Behemoth, I don't recall running around yelling and showing off my shit.

Oh but wait we didn't do all that because Firestreak didn't know.

Its sad to see the NA vs JP shit still exist on this server, that was one of the reasons we left, stupid politics, always us vs them instead of trying to work it out or have fun together. Apparently you have streetcred now only if do it within nationalism in mind, an NA shell if you will. That's fine but you can't rewrite history.

The ontopic part :p

The reason we left for WoW was because the endgame of FFXI was flat, just like how people have been posting. A lot of our friends were quitting too, most of mine from the day 1 of the NAPC release already quit, a handful of players were left. We left to do something else for 6 months, and saw that SE is putting some effort into making the game more fun. We just lucked out that WoW's endgame is even shittier then FFXI's, I suspect we may see even more players coming back like the best ranger in the game... sup Alteredstate :p

I think the xp cap reduction is awesome, more players will have the chance to see more of the endgame and wonder at the sights of Tu'lia. It shows me as someone who quit playing a while back see that SE wants to put some effort into making the game fun again. It makes me sad remembering a number of friends hitting the 50s and just giving up because of the amount of work(building parties, LFG that sort of thing not actual XPing) to put into their character to advance.

*Claps for Ghostinmyshell*

One of the best posts I've seen on this topic.

All I have to say is...

I'm going to laugh so hard if xp only gets cut 1-5k per level, after everyone dug the topic into the GROUND.

haha!! your arguement might have made me think you were intelligent but when you start off by insulting the way Firestreak lives and calling him a loser basically is what made your post die to me before it started it's actual point. You come in and insult thinking you are funny and will get more support on your side from people opposing Firestreak already. It's sad that kipsy came in and just praised you for making that disrespectful and rude post toward Firestreak. Anyone that does join you just cause you made fun of Firestreak... well.. who'd want those kinda people on their side anyway? Then again... I guess you just wanna be with our own immature insulting kind. Seriously, if you are gonna try and make an ACTUAL arguement..don't come in and insult the person... especially as your first statement! God damn... people that do that piss me off... I bet you don't actually think about Firestreak's arguement at all and deemed it completely wrong because you don't agree to it. And, now you seem to be taking the "I'm greater than you cause I took a bullshit 'bullet' for the LS I was in". Seriously, it's people like you that make this forum and the game suck and less entertaining
