PS3 Official White Knight Chronicles Thread - WKC2 Set for July 8th. New Trailer.

From what I read EU and NA are on the same server.
And I can tell you I've finished more quests than those. Last I remember, I was working on a series of dragon hunting quests.

Looks like I've got some catching up to do then.

Edit: Somehow I've managed to S Rank "Best Served Cold", just gotta redo "A Grave Situation" as an S Rank and I'll have the next trophy.

HOLY SHIT!

July 8 in Japan for a suggested retail price of 6980 yen

But that's not all! It seems Level 5 looked to BioWare's example aaaaaaaaaaaaand:

"SCEJ also announced that gamers who buy the title's first pressing will receive a product code that unlocks white-knight equipment (shield, sword and helm) for the online avatars used in the WKC games. Players who buy the sequel will be able to carry over their avatar's appearance, items, ranks, money, and Georama stuff from the original, although they'll need to complete the first WKC's story mode beforehand."

O_o

That's something I thought they'd never do.

I was skeptical whether or not they'd allow this as well. But it's a step in the right direction...now if they can just fix everything that's wrong with WKC, namely the shit endgame and the ridiculous amount of time it takes to do *ANYTHING AT ALL*.

It's like I'm really playing .hack

Well, that's fine

I sold WKC but my save is still on my PS3

I'm not buying this one right away, though. If I can pick it up off gamefly or something, I'll do that

There is really just no justifying how bad the enemy diversity and endgame in WKC1 is. There's no way I'm spending any money on something like that again.

Ok, nothing 100% official yet but there is a rumor that Level 5 and Sony are gonna do a bundle for WKC2, though not a console one as far as I know. Instead, this bundle will include BOTH of the games, not only that but the rumor further states that WKC will be upgraded to what WKC2 will be.

Take this with a pinch of salt for the time being, however, don't throw out the possibility of it completely. The retail listing included in that article is pretty solid evidence (If you can read Japanese that is). If this is indeed real you can be sure I'll be importing this to give my impressions on it.

Furthermore, if this update for WKC is real, It is unsure if there will be an update for it or not. We'll just have to wait and see.

I did this aswell.

And I fully agree with this. The endgame of WKC was terrible. It was grind the same quests 1000 times and fight the same enemies over and over.

While I understand with what you said, honestly, I can forgive Level 5 for the shortcomings of this game, based upon several factors:

1) This is their first PS3 title, I assume they wanted to start with something basic so they can build into something greater (WKC2 and perhaps WKC3(?))
2) They are a fairly small studio, their resources for developing next gen titles aren't nearly as large as other developers, for example SE. (Level 5 has 210 Employees circa 2009, while SE has around 2,500, also circa 2009)
3) They run several projects all at once, and have to divide time to each accordingly. (Inazuma 11, Professor Layton, WKC, Dragon Quest etc.)

If anything, I'd say their work so far is rather admirable. They've managed to not only develop a completely new IP, they've managed to build this IP into a series (Akin to Mass Effect in a way, though completely different from what BioWare do), and they've done it on a system that is fairly difficult to develop for. Not only that, it's their first HD title, and their first true online title since True Fantasy Live Online was cancelled by Microsoft.

I'm sorry but this defense is completely shot down by the fact that it took them an extra 4 years to make this game.

So, at some point between last night and now I lost all my PS3 data.
Not really a big deal personally, despite sinking a few hundred hours into FFXIII, nothing terrible.
But I will have to catch up to you guys now.

Okay, I'll try and get a little bit more done with the quests as well as try and level up more.

Technically, this game was announced in 2006, released in December 2008, and we only just got the localised version, so, in actuality, around maybe 2 or 3 years.

I could say the very same thing with the way Square Enix have been working recently, and as I said, Level 5 has around 200 employees, they are a very small 2nd party developer working on several projects all at once.

You know what I noticed?
One of the screens has a skill taking up two slots on the action bar.

New trailers, it's basically the opening. A better quality version compared to the one that was leaked some time ago:

I'm getting seriously excited for this =D

There were two reasons for including this. First, they were worried that White Knight 2 would have the image of requiring play of the first title. Additionally, because the gameplay systems of the original have been updated to White Knight 2 spec (see the screen to the above right for a glimpse), they wanted those who played the original to replay it using the new gameplay systems.
I don't mind this, but it means I'll be holding off on playing through the game again after I lost my data.
At least until it's confirmed whether or not both games will come together on the western release (or if there's even a western release to begin with).

There will be. Count on it =)

Argh! Stop with the RPGs! I still want to play the first one for this and I also need to complete Tales of Vespia (although if that stupid playtrade guy actually had it in stock like he said he did that would of helped. /le sigh)

This looks cool also.
