Whoever said the Saints didn't have anything to win when playing Dallas and Tampa? We did, but I can give excuses because I'm a fan and not a player. So here goes.
Against Dallas. 5 offensive players out, 6 defensive players out. Against Tampa, the same. There I went their. Injuries are part of the game, but any team who lost their starting corners, and two defensive tackles would reel from that. No other team had as many injuries as we did that was still in contention. Saints also had the most on I.R. again out of any team...two straight years.
The Colts did lose their two corners for a bit, but you know what? They play zone all the way. The Saints play man defense almost exclusively, which means losing both starting corners had much more of an impact.
I'm not saying we'll even make it to the big dance, and if we did, I'm not saying we're guaranteed to make it. But yes, if the Saints play to their full potential, the Colts aren't near as explosive, not even close. Saints had the number one offense, and put up much bigger numbers then the Colts. Saints are 4th in rushing, and 5th in passing. Number one passing yards per game. They run twice as many formations as the Colts which create much more matchup problems. Colts only have 3 viable weapon skill players. Saints have double that. If both teams play turnover free football, then the Saints win. If the Saints turn it over, well the Saints lose.
