I'd rather have SE give PLD something to even things up. I personally believe PLD should be the primary tanking job, but there are NIN & other's who would disapprove of that, so at least make it even SE....

It is even. What are you talking about?

If it's even why are PLD taking a backseat & sitting around waiting for PT? It's been over a week that I've been seeking PT & stuck at lvl 71. There have been many times that I've got stuck without a PT for a whole month. NIN can cast 2 Utsusemi ninjitsu back to back, PLD can only cast flash & then start taking hits till flash is rdy again. Something is needed to boost a PLD's ability to regain MP constantly, a Job Trait or some stackable item like how NIN can toolbag shihei.

So? Thats because people prefer NIN, not because they are uneven. Each have their uses, and PLD is deffinately a tanking force to be reconned with, but as everyone has said, NIN is faster XP and PLD is safer XP. Both are just as good at tanking. If it makes you feel any better I haven't been able to get a level for my BLM in well over a month, which just goes to show, it's slim pickins out there right now. Took me a good week to get a level on WHM too. Both of those jobs are in as high demand as NIN.

You're ignoring what others are saying. PLD is an excellent tank, but there are things where a NIN tanking makes it easier. When you're in exp, NIN's lower downtime because they take less mp upkeep. No one's saying PLD sucks, so stop acting like it.

Why would they prefer NIN, unless it wasn't even? PLD could be just as fast exp if SE would get off their rears!!!

People are saying it, but mostly, people are showing it with their actions, they're not saying they suck (well some are), but they are saying PLD is a backup choice for EXP PTs. If SE would do something to even the playing field, there would no picking between the 2, just find what's avail & pick one not based on job unless choice is determined by what other jobs you already have in pt. You are ignoring what I am saying, NIN makes things easier due to certain abilities granted by SE, abilities that put NIN as the 1st choice for an EXP pt. This is not a debate with you, in fact....this is a debate many would petition on w/SE if they could.

Sounds kinda silly to me. PLD can drink yag drinks if they want, but I assume you are refering to something in addition to the refresh they get off a RDM. Of course, if PLD magically gained some meathod to regen MP faster than anyone else, they would make better main healers than they would tanks. You can't have it all.

I would count your blessings that you can tank as well as a ninja without paying out the ass for it. Sure you get hit, and there is downtime, but each PT doesn't cost you 80k, not counting food.

NIN is only better because they pay out the ass to be so.

Yags don't stack or toolbag..... otherwise perhaps any debate on this would be resolved.

I don't have a clear preference; I'll make do with whatever tank is there. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. I think there are too many variables in a six-person party to ever say the choice of a tank is the only thing making or breaking your xp. What good is an awesome tank if your DDs are total crap or you have a RDM who doesn't know how to Refresh?

Having said that, there's a level of comfort with PLD that I don't get when I'm main healing a NIN party. I'm much more comfortable resting for a tick or two of mp when I have a PLD tank. With a NIN, I'm always watching to see when I need to throw out Flash so shadow interruption doesn't lead to a dirt nap. The flip side of that is I don't have to rest MP as much with a NIN.

As a WHM, a PLD tank tends to be more professionally satisfying. As has been posted ad nauseum, NIN parties can get away with ditching the WHM altogether (which makes Baby Jesus cry).

Reguardless of whether or not they pay out the ass to be so, PLD don't have anything equivalent they can pay out the ass to be so if they wanted to be, you can't stack or toolbag Yagudo Drinks.

You can level cooking and make your own drinks in the field.

Lame response there dude, you still gotta carry all the ingredients then. Yags, if this be the solution, need to be stackable & toolbagable.

If Yagudo Drinks or an alternate item of equal or greater ability are made stackable & toolbagable for PLD use, this would end any debate & I for one would be willing to take all the extra time away from EXPing necessary to make sure I had the gil to afford it so that I could be the very best PLD... ahem... TANK!... possible.

I've got mixed opinions on this.... on my blm a paladin tank does 1000000x better. no, seriously. i've run out of patience with nin's who think they're the exception to the rule. an exp mob shouldn't really LAST the 30 secs they want me to give them to build hate. with a pld i can TIV off the hop and it's fine, with nins i can T3 and pull hate at the start.

on the other hand, on my monk char i love nin tanks... they save the healer mp that they will later need curing me when i pull hate which usually happens regardless. exp seems to flow faster with the nin tank in the standard pt setup.

Yag cherry x1 / Bubu grape x3. Both stackable to 12. How many tools does a NIN have to carry around? Like what 6-8 stacks. 2 stacks of cherrys and 6 stacks of grapes will keep you leveling for a good while.

Not necessarily, I can craft a majority of my tools and then farm the ingredients or trade what I farm for the ingredients I need (well, not lately but when I was leveling). At 75 a ninja with a sky shell can pretty much replace all that expensive gear with sky gear and quested gear and have a nice nest egg in the bank. I hq shihei and toolbag it(greatest change SE ever made). I farmed a lot when leveling ninja but I usually farmed for my ninja tools - I pretty much leveled Ninja to 75 for free except for armor that I sold back for a profit.

Ni wheel is the most effective hate holding tool from about level 40-65 especially with int and ninja af gear swaps for the spells. at level 50 a ninja should be outdamaging everyone and tanking quite fine. The damage of those spells then starts to taper off but it is still somewhat effective at 75.
Blind, slow, paralyze with gear swaps these usually stick and add a ton of hate. There should be no problems with Ninja holding hate from 40+ except a small window 70-74 where Monks are freaks and its tough to hold hate from them.

7 inventory spaces can make 12 yag drinks.
28 inventory spaces can make 48 yag drinks.
48 yag drinks X 3 minutes = 144 minutes of yag drink effectiveness

Thats over 2 hours of your own self refresh. And I know PLD don't need 32 spaces for all their gear.

The toolbags are nice, but they just make it so you dont have to jump back to the AH after each PT to restock. If anything, you should be upset that SE hasn't put a grocery store in Jeuno like I am. I mean wtf? Why are the Elvaans the only ones with a grocery store? I thought Jeuno was supposed to be a trade mecca...

Every job has its optimal uses...Think fighting with one other job for a party is bad? Try leveling anything that can be considered a DD.

Word. Lately I've been giving DRGs and DRKs spots in my PTs just to get them some levels. I feel sorry for the poor bastards. Lately I've been getting alot of MNks crying about how poor their DMG is on beetles, so they can suck it.
