I think we've seen that here at QCDN, the consensus is that actions related to the game are clearly equal to other actions made in a persons life.

To some extent I agree with consensus, mostly owing to "first impressions". If this (forum, game, w/e) is the only context in which I "know" someone, I'm going to automatically assume that the person is pretty much the same in real life.

I know a person can act one way irl and an entirely different way in a game or a forum (see Internet Tough Guys), but generally mannerisms such as speech patterns, sense of humor, consideration of other persons, will be reflected from one to the other.

Simply put, in my eyes, while I think a person who sells a character or ingame item is a shitty gamer, but a little less so than a person who actually buys an ingame item or character, I don't immediately assume that the person would sell his/her mother for a fast buck IRL. I do assume that the person doesn't value the things that they have, though.

But you automatically assumed that we were buying them with real currency. I was referring to you.

Did I say "Hey Deja go to Nirvana site they are buying Kraken Clubs for USD, start there."

No.

Although, I wouldn't go about it like this, I do agree with Dejavu a bit. The buyer is worst then the seller ect... Its been said many times.
But, even though I find the buyer worst, I do find the seller bad too. I would never sell my account because personally I find it wrong playing the game with people and having them help you and then you go on and sell it all for your gain. Also, I wouldn't trust those websites.

So, like, do all the idiots who sell their account have some fucking fan club site or something? They really all just come and post stupid shit when someone says one word about RMT.

It seems like.

No one cares about selling accounts and shit these days. We all know it happens and that SE does nothing about it.

Maybe less people care, but some people still do. I would get annoyed that a friend would actually just sell their account one day without saying anything.
And towards the "SE does nothing", thats pretty close to criminal mentality there. Just because you don't get caught doesn't mean its ok. Yes, I know its not that close to real life robbery because its not that SE does nothing, its because they can't really.

Well yeah "some" people care. When I said "SE does nothing" I didn't mean that it's ok to do it. I just meant SE does nothing about it and people talk about it all the time about how it's so bad. Sure it's not "moral", but unless they are going to start doing something about it, there's no point in really complaining anymore.

Same shit different day in my opinion, just like all this shit about Absolution in the other threads.

I agree with your post for the most part, with the exception of the bolded sentence. To me that seems like far too much of a generalization, although I know it is tough to make any kind of specific personal judgments when you only know someone on a internet forum/game.

For instance, I sold my gil, yet I value my possessions greatly. My guitar, my car, my cameras, etc etc... I get quite attached to the items that have value to me, and know how to appreciate what I have. Heck, I wouldn't even sell Sanoske, just because I put so much time and effort into the character itself that I don't want to just pass it on. (reputation notwithstanding)

Granted, this is just personal insight... I know this wouldn't hold true for everyone.

Honestly guys. I think Deja has a perfectly viable perception on things. Not that I agree, but it doesn't make it any less mmm logical.

It just doesn't sit well with many of us. To most it's unethical. However to look at it from a business point of view, it makes sense. WHEN the comparisons were brought into play it made my thought sway. I think it was the tobacco company comparison.

My view point is that because the Governments allow it as a controlled substance they should be more responsible in banning and closing tobacco companies to help their populations. It won't happen though, not in my life time... and I understand why. It's a business, and in this case the Government is also profiting from it.

Sooooooo as much as I don't agree with the rmt (even never recgonising the direct impact myself) I understand his perspective.

It's not stupid.

I know it's against TOS and I know it makes ingame careers a bitch to many, that's why I don't agree with it, but it's the black market (someone mentioned earlier) and no one, no one country has complete controll over their Black Markets. It's a business that will just keep on going as long as there's merchandise.
Yet you see there a flaw in this anology. Camel wants people buy there product, they don't scold the buyer. They don't go to there house put big ass sign in the yard that says "this guys a smoker stay away." So arguments still stands is it not hypocritical to pitchfork the buyer if your a seller.

I completley understand someone being against selling their account and thats a form of RMTing but saying "putting everyones friendship for sale" is ignorant.

If some loser wants to throw hundreds of dollars for pixels, knock yourself out. If someone offered you thousands of dollars for your toon and you need extra cash. Go for it.

I think its a little shady but everyones in a different place IRL so, I guess if you need the money. Whatever. I'm not against people I know doing it. I think thats a bit different than selling gil/buying gil/botting.

Yes, there is a difference.

Did I say "Hey Deja go to Nirvana site they are buying Kraken Clubs for USD, start there."

No.

You, as well as everyone else here, knew that was exactly what you meant.

I was just saying it to mean something along these lines: "Hey Deja if it makes u feel better go search around here."

I was in Nirvana before I quit, I know they aren't paying USD for the clubs.

I didn't say his previous posts weren't hypocritical of him.

I said I understand his perception, it seems as though he views it as a business. I understand that, and I agree with that. It IS a business.

The cigarette analogy works differently for me. In Canada the Government has forced tobacco companies to put graphic images along with the standard warning labels on on their packs to try and persuade their customers to quit. BUT because our Government makes a KILLING on smokes, they're benefiting and cashing out on the cancer sticks, they won't out law it. They are the seller, not the direct seller but they play the largest part in that they are Government. Because it's a business and they want some $$$ they won't outlaw it. So it's the buyers that need to smarten up if cigarettes are ever to be outlawed, shit the Government will move onto the next monopoly to make extra $$$.

The drug analogy I can see as well, if you have never been around the scene whether as mild as buying pot weekly or heavy as a nose candy addiction than you probably don't have the best perception on how it works. People who do/have lived that life style or been around it full time for a period of time have an insiders and outsiders understanding.

I have had friends that did not smoke or do any drugs but sold them because, hey, they have a friend who needs to unload a couple pounds of chronic and could use the cash. I'll tell ya what though, if there was no demand for Chronic they wouldn't be selling it, they'd find another way to make their money.

Long and short of my opinion, I suppose, is you can't tuck everything into a good/bad category to fir your needs because it just doesn't work that way, there are and always will be exceptions and everyone needs to understand and come to terms with it otherwise life is going to be a bitter one.

Thus the circle continues... round and round we go, where it stops...

I have quit already, but I haven't sold my account. I think maybe I should.

You should. Then you'll be telling your friends that their friendship is for sale.

Is there any real reason you're being an annoying brat recently? I'm mean seriously.
I'm sorry that you're annoyed but that is off topic. If you don't like what I have to say then don't read my replies to posts.

And back OTT, I was kidding about selling my account. Its probably not worth anything anyway :D

You do realise that your post about selling YOUR account was just as off topic.

Also quick edit to my post before.

Is there any real reason you're being an annoying brat like all the god damm time? I'm mean seriously

You're right, it's probably not worth shit anyway. :nopity:

The only time I think it's "acceptable" to sell an account.. is if you're selling to a ls mate, someone you know/have played with for a long enough time that by the time you're leaving it's just like passing the bar to your shell. Keeps it in the family, win for you, win for your friends and no RMT or sketchyness is involved. When people start advertising their shit on ebay or whatever that's when it's not acceptable to me. But that's just my thoughts on the subject.

I pretty much feel the same way. Though I don't agree with the idea behind selling off accounts, it's only due to the damage it may cause.

I always kinda thought though if you really had an account 'worth' something, spent god knows how many years playing, god knows how many hours upon hours and wanted something monetary back out of the deal to have a friend buy it.

If they're willing why not. It would be the same it just giving rights to them and having them take over payments without an upfront payment, they could be shit and bring hell down or be boss and take over the world. Either way you're using your judgment and that person will play that account however they choose.

Definitely an entertaining thread. Now all we need to do is wait for his annoying butt buddy Javir to come in and pretend to act neutral and agree with Dejavu anyways. Then this thread will be complete.

U think you're clever, don't u?

This comment does feel right at home tho, in a thread about how people can be hypocritical without batting an eye when it suits them. Miros, you're a douchebag. At least now your true colors are showing.

I'd love some elaboration on my hypocrisy! If you mean I was nice to people when I was red well I had to be. ;o It's nice to be able to point out how much failure some people are now.

I hate to steal a page from your book but...troll on troll...troll on.
