Lost Odyssey official thread

My god i'm 85 hours into the game due to the extra content and that I play games the first time through with no strategy guides or internet guides. God I love this game. Its nice that an RPG of this quality hit our shores.

My team is beyond broken atm lol, I dont wanna spoil anything for anyone about what abilities they have but lemme just say that the humans and extra content make immortals broken without question by the end.

Extra content as in the Pre-order stuff?

You only get a single accessory with the bonus content. So its not that, that is breaking the game, its just that Mistwalker didn't make the enemies scale well or limit your immortals at all (having everyone in your party know gamble is pretty broken itself).

Oh well yeah lol, the only "limit" in the game is for the people who don't grind at all.

Just the way he was talking, i thought he meant something different lol.

What I meant by "Extra" is the optional side quests and zones to explore. One example of this that took me hours because of the complexity of the puzzles and treasure chest locations was the Temple of Enlightenment.

In reality if you wanted to beat the game fast I advise the primo grind location. For me it was Gongora's secret laboratory with the zombie-esque mobs. I took my people from 30-52 there in about an hour and a half. You just equip everyone with resist petrify and keep Sed in the party for the exp boost or learn his exp boost and use it on your other immortals to phase Sed out. Personally I went with Sed as my 5th member to make things interesting since he is basically the weakest human.

If you do up to 50 like that its more than enough to run through the rest of the game quite literally fleeing battles if you wanted to run through it. Personally though I unlocked everything this first time through and now that I beat the game I'm running through it again trying to beat it as fast as I can just for the sake of seeing how quickly I can cruise through it.

As for the game in itself, brilliant. Some may not agree, but in my mind it just crushed Xenosaga and Final Fantasy 7 for me. By far the best RPG I have ever had the pleasure of playing.

Ok, this games seriously pissing me off. I'm stuck in the black caves because my game keeps freezing between the first and second rooms in there.

Try me man, my Xbox is generation 2 and it died after the first Disc. Literally the Xbox couldnt handle the requirements anymore and the Disc tray stopped reading and the Xbox started putting messages on my screen in Japanese. So I sent my Xbox in for repairs(HI2U5WEEKSFROMNOW). I used my brothers' new generation 5 xbox and it played the rest of the game without problems.

Just be forewarned generation 1-3 Xbox's, this game will possibly burn out your CD-ROM optic in the disc drive. I had 2 other friends this week with the same problem as myself, they also had generation 1-3 Xbox's. Luckily I had the foresight years ago to call 1-8004myxbox years ago when I bought it and get an extended full coverage warranty for 30 bucks. The first xbox I had died in 2 months from tray failure and freezing. I got this generation 2 as a replacement.

So trust me when I say it guys, if it freezes often its probably not the disc. Its the Xbox optic failing to read/spin the game.

With how they cram the discs in to the case its not surprising at all they don't read. Just be more careful with them, and if you aren't already, lay your xbox flat.

Oh god I really can't wait till this Friday when I pick this up. You guys are making me jealous.

I wish that were the case for me. I am pretty meticulous with how I treat my disc's for CD's, DVD's, and games. My xbox just plain burned the optic out. I should know especially due to the fact that my job for 3 years was to service optic's in rom drives. Basically the main lens inside becomes distorted from the heat output. Imagine someone sitting in front of the TV for years when they are a kid, your eyes more times than not go bad and distort. The early model xbox's just don't dissipate heat enough to counter the effects of a hard working optic, which this game puts to the test.

I wasn't trying to disagree with you or anything. I was just saying that stacking 3 CDs on top of each other in a case, and having another sit inside a sleeve is probably the stupidest thing that could have been done. Its what happened with the H3 special edition, and they are lucky it didn't happen with this game.

lol One disc comes in a sleeve? Got mine preplayed, so it just had all 4 discs sitting in the middle. I thought that didn't fit quite right.

I still think Vista has that card. Not really sure what the point of that was, though.

Pretty spiffy MS paint job =P. But even with the problems it gives me, I absolutely love the system the most above my DS Wii and PS3. Its far more complete of a system in terms of game quality, type/genre, and content as far as I'm concerned. Although granted they should have done more testing before launching it to get the jump on the first console out war. But I guess the bright side is that the newest models hardly ever see any problems.

As far as the 3 disc's in middle 1 in the sleeve, WTF was with that? What is it soo damn hard to make a double trapper style xbox container to hold the 4 discs? It wouldn't even take any more room really to process. This was a ghetto packaging attempt for no good reason to a game that sells very well atm.

my pre order came with the accessory and a bonus mission, at least thats what the card said and the download description, though im not sure what the bonus mission is yet and the accessory rocks...though it did make the game a lil easier.
I didnt figure out what slot seeds were for because i never looked till disc 3 lmao, i felt like an idiot!

and you know what place sucks the most of all in this game?! TEMPLE OF ENLIGHTENMENT!!!
i HATE that place, i was in near tears trying to find my way to the jewels...and when i finally got to the boss i lost...and it glitched and i got the achievement for beating him even though i didnt.
But when i finally did beat him and tried to find my way out...i was again near tears of running in circles in that damn tetris puzzle maze.
cant complain though, the leveling in there was awesome...every battle was a level and got me up to the 70's in levels.

Yeah the only problem for me was that I did levels 30-50 in Gongora's secret laboratory so the levels in the Temple were just overkill. I mainly flee'd the battles in there to speed things up, but it still took me hours to find the jewels and get the hell out again. I in fact swore after beating the game that I would probably avoid that zone completely next time lol.

My biggest gripe in this game is the lack of "Repels". Those things in FF games make life easier in zones where your trying to just hustle through because you don't need the levels. That was the only thing I whole-heartedly wished they had for more times in this game than I wish to remember.

God that temple made me hate life. But on the plus side, it's interesting to start the game at level 50 off the get go when you beat the game. I loved this game soo much that I'm going to run through it again already.

No one (that i know of) has figured out what the bonus mission is yet, but the accessory gives you Weapon Guard 2, which is crazy good to have your front line immortals learn ASAP.

Yeah, the 360 has really been growing on me. I'm still an avid hater of the original xbox, but the 360 looks like a really good system. I just gotta remember to never buy one of the early models...that's some retarded shit.

How can you hate the system that has some of the best game(s) ever made on it?

(That being Psychonaughts/Fable/Kung Foo Khaos.)
