That is really sad. It would have been nice for the person who was his inspiration to see what came of it.

Yet he isn't Marxist at all in his political ways. He may have Marxist professor friends but Obama himself is not even close to being a Marxist. There's no way on earth he'd be running for President if he was.

Don't you think that is a naive statement? I mean seriously, if someone had photos of John McCain hanging out at a Ku Klux Klan meeting would that mean there's no possible way he could be a racist?

Barack "Share the Wealth" Obama is a Marxist. Go ahead and vote for him if you want its a free country but don't deny what he is.

of course who you happened to work with/talk to doesn't require you to be complete opposites, in fact more often people who hang out together have at least somewhat similar views, that said I have many very conservative friends. I am generally rather liberal though I still make fun of other friends I have for being borderline communists. Basing a judgement about somone either way simply on who they hang out with is silly.

Barack Obama is proposing that basically we return to the old tax system from clinton with some ajustments and extra tax breaks for those making under $200,000
basically the current 33% rate goes to 36% and the 35% rate goes to 39.6% he also said he intends to raise where those brackets begin to over $200,000(single) or $250,000(married)

if a 3% tax increase to what the taxes were a few years ago is marxism well I guess I misunderstand marxism

by far the most socialist thing our government has done recently is the buying out of most of our major banks and that's something both candidates supported.

anyways regardless of who you are voting for just get out and vote and lets try to respect each other when this is done, no matter who wins we need our country to get through these two wars and get our selves out of this economic disaster.

And FFS, if you can vote... please do.

This needs to emphasized it on our country too. Last month's election was a sad turn out. It's funny how we, who are free to have the democratic process, take it for granted every election day.

That word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

But seriously, I've heard so many people claiming Obama is a Marxist. Do you know what Marxism is? Do you have the slightest clue who has been Marxist world leaders and their policies? Do you even know anything about what Marx and Engels wrote?

He's not a socialist either. If you want a working example of socialism, look at Sweden. Look at how their government works, and some of the laws they've passed. That's socialism.

And your statement isn't great either, that's like saying because Chamillionaire and Weird Al are friends/enjoyed each other's music, that Weird Al's a rapper, and Chamillionaire plays the accordian.
I'm not even American, and it bothers me how little you people know about the people you choose to run your country.

Gotta love anyone who can use a Weird Al reference to make a point about Marxism.

And I get to see Malagra at school on some days! He's cooler than you think Ctoast. ;)

I was voter #1 today! I honestly still wasn't sure who to vote for, even in the booth. It took like 5 mins for the presidential election (Bob Barr looked appealing...) and like 2 for the rest of the ballot (mainly because I knew how I was voting on the issues before I got there).

My mother and I took advantage of early voting in October. I drove past a few voting sites and giggled to myself cause I don't have to stand in those lines that are like stretched out beyond parking lots almost.

Does anyone have a realtime election tracker that they're using? Right now I'm using Yahoo!, but it doesn't look like it automatically updates (at least not without hitting F5/Refresh.

I really hope they don't intend to cause more suspense than there really should be. The news this morning said that if Obama has an easy win in Virginia people will tune out so they are going to prolong it to keep ratings up.

2.5 hours in line today. Early voting wouldn't have saved me time. I would have had an 1.5 driving to and from the early voting poll location plus waiting in line. My Nov. 4th voting location is literally a 2 minute walk from my front door.

Ok I just voted and I am happy this shit is over no matter who wins. At least we have 2 more years till this shit starts again.

PM'd it Lucki

First time in my adult life I voted (last Thursday) or even registered to vote. Nobody since I've been 18 has been worth me lifting a finger over until now.

I still have friends that refuse to vote because they tie Jury Duty to voting registration.
